Yep, I have a helmet, with ear muffs and face gaurd, assless chaps (for you @thumper7799 ), logger steel toe boots, thick gloves, and proper stance.

Funny you should mention that ...
I have the same pair of jeans! Had just made a cut and stepped back to get away from a log that wanted to roll. Hung my heel and in the process of catching my balance, just nicked my jeans at the knee. The jeans pulled the still moving (but not under power) chain into my left knee. Not a bad injury but still required 11 stiches. If you ever want to go to the front of the line in the emergency room, just walk in and announce that you cut your leg with a chainsaw! Chaps are the order of the day now.

I'm rocking an old Husky L65, 20"bar. Darn thing still runs great, starts easy, not as light as a modern saw, but I only use it for camping and a couple or three loads of firewood a year. Full safety gear every time. Watched my brothers leg get saved years ago by his chainsaw pants when a branch deflected the Husky 2100 he was running. Now that was a saw - 99 CC's of manliness.

    My L65

Not too sure. Some info I found suggested they were introduced in 1974, but other places said late '60s. This one has a chain brake, which puts it in the newer end of the range, best I can figure. I have another that is now a parts saw (It got a bit squished when birch tree I was falling split and pivoted on the stump, wasn't sticking 'round to save the saw) that does not have a brake. I'll be 35 next month, and I'm pretty sure it's older than I am. I've had this one for 13 or 14 years now, and ran the other one for a few years before that.

I've done basic maintenance, but it just won't give me a reason to "upgrade".

How is this thread not bigger haha.

I ported intake and exhaust on my stihl 361 today. Removed the fuel adjustment limiters also for proper afr. Need to buy some black heat paint for the muffler before bolt up.

Can’t wait to crank some fuel and get some loud fast revs tomorrow.

I’ve since sold the trusty old L65, since I couldn’t say no to this minty old Husky 61 white-top with a 24” bar. Then a while later a heck of a good deal a bit newer grey-top 61 that’s had a bit more use. And I really don’t need 2 chainsaws.

Love the way it looks too. Build quality is right up there. Stout little truck. Solid. Have to admit I'm liking not having to fill up as often. Ha! I'm starting to see more now lately. I think Nissan's goal is to sell a modest 70K this year which they should do. It's been well received. Yota will sell a lot more Taco's of course but the new Frontier blows the current gen away. Never thought I'd be saying that. All mid sized trucks are selling well. A new Taco and Ranger soon. The Chevy ZR2 is pretty bad ass actually. Hopefully the new taco won't have the same lines as the 22 Tundra. The Taco has always looked decent.
How are things in EhBerta? How's the "goat" doing?

Nice that’s good to hear- anything to save some cash at the pumps right :annoyed:

We’re good up here (far enough away from the capital:anonymous:) just counting down the days until our provincial restrictions are lifted:fingerscrossed:

The goat is good enough. I don’t use it that often anymore tbh. Just plowing in the winter and pulling a tire harrow in the summer. Just got a BD tuner for it from a forum member so excited to give that a go soon. Other than that same old :)

I have five wooded acres, heat my home strictly with firewood. I fell my own trees, buck, limb, cut and split everything myself so I have a saw for every job. My newest addition is the MS461 full wrap with double dogs and a 28" Stihl light bar. What a wood chewing beast and perfectly balanced which allows me the ability to use it all day and I'm 53. I love me some wood!

I was raised in Drain, Orygun on a 70 acre ranch with 20 acres of old 2nd growth D firs and cedar. I remember my dad having an old heavy ass McCullough with a 3' bar. I had a Pioneer with a 2' bar. Cut and split a lot of firewood. I used to buck cedar windfalls and split them up and cut them into "bolts" . Sold them bulk to a guy that would split them up into shakes. Damn....50 years ago. Yeah, I'm old.

I was picking up my chains from being sharpened last summer and happened to ask the guy if he had any older, small saws for sale. Gave me this little beaver for $60 with two new chains. Starts on the second pull every time. Perfect for camping

A couple years ago, I got rid of the Jonsered (Husqvarna) and bought a Stihl MS391 with a 20" bar. Love that saw. It has been serving me well, taking down big oaks that have been killed by the oak wilt (big problem in these parts). After the big ice storm last year here in south central Texas, I had a lot of damage to clean up, downed limbs, etc. That MS391 was a little unwieldy and wore this ol' body out pretty quick. So I also bought a little Stihl MS194T with a 12 or 14" (can't remember which) bar. That little lightweight is a joy to work with.

We live in the hills on the edge of a forest; open space as far as the eye can see. Chainsaws have become as necessary here as anything else. So when we moved in a couple years ago, I bought up a bunch of Echo’s pro-line of tools including a 20” chainsaw. It’s pretty good but has proven unable to handle the trees we have to trim the most - large eucalyptus, which is an extremely dense wood. Had an 86 foot branch fall recently; almost 40” diameter at its thickest where it broke from the tree. The echo just couldn’t handle the density of eucalyptus wood. But daaaamn. I rented a Huskarvana 36” to tackle that thing. I was done cutting the entire branch into small enough pieces to fit in my dump trailer in less than 4 minutes. Holy God that thing is a beast. Pretty darn sure I’ll replace the Echo at some point I have a spare $1500 floating around to buy the other one.

I’m in western Oregon, and have always made due with the little Husqvarna 345 that I bought for camping almost 20 years ago. We’d always lived in town, so that was just fine. We bought a couple acres a few years ago and built our home on it. While it isn’t a densely wooded property and we don’t use wood for heat, I do need to cut some tree parts a few times per year. And, I’m always looking for excuses to buy nice tools…

That said, I picked up a new Stihl MS400-CM last week. Wanted a 362 till I learned about this 400. Same size and weight of 362. Same saw and the same engine bottom end. Larger bore and magnesium piston increases displacement and power by about 15% over a 362. It’s no 462, but it’s a beast compared to the 362. Doubt I’ll need more in my lifetime…
