Looks great, glad you got it straightened out, I luckily didn't have the same issues as you. Good job.

This thread is hitting home hard for me. Ordered a covert bumper months ago. Got in a covert with a bull bar which doesn’t even exist in their catalog. Called and spoke with Eric and he said they were shipping those prototypes out for review. They were cool enough to offer an exchange and take care of everything. I asked about instructions. He said they have prep videos only??? Now, I have all the same questions OP had. They have a video to trim the bumper but no install. I am supposed to relocate some hard lines but have no idea where. For this money they could have at least scribbled some instructions down on paper. Anybody know how you have to relocate those lines behind the bumper?

It took the weekend for me to calm down Buuut, I think I do like the added protection. Putting a Rigid 30” SAE AND Warn Zeon in this weekend. I’ll post up pics and y’all can weigh in on the look. Just wanted to share my personal experience thus far with CBI.

Sorry to hear that, but I’m not surprised. Hopefully someone here has experience and can chime in.

I don’t know what’s going on at CBI, but I’ll never buy anything from them again.

Yeah, their customer experience could use some work. We shouldn’t have to send pics and call to “walk through” install. Wife’s new 4Runner might get something else…:(

OK, so I'd be pissed if they sent me a random prototype instead of what I ordered....

BUT. That protobumper is as intriguing as hell... I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like mounted.

Their webpage links to their YouTube channel, a search for "tundra covert" lead me to this (partial? )install video:

Disclaimer - I have no affiliation with any aftermarket manufacturer, and my truck is still bone stock aside from floor mats and a tonneau cover!

Yep, that’s just a prep video. Doesn’t illustrate any of the issues with moving the front hard lines or what can or can’t be reused. All that video shows is cutting the plastic. They need a part 2. Victory Offroad has the best install video I’ve seen so far.

Nice looking setup, I'd love to have a set of LP9's on my truck without a full blown off-road bumper. Any pics of that from the side?

Damn! Your truck looks good. I super appreciate you. What winch are you using and did you do a relo on controller?

Yep, that looks great! I definitely see some LP6's or 9's in my future. Could you tell me what diameter that bar is, and how you mounted the lights? Do the bar mounts come with them, or is that something you purchased separately? Baja Designs website isn't too helpful in understanding mounting options.

Wanted to leave as much plastic behind the bumper as possible. Do you think this will work or should I trim the vertical?4CC8F13D-65F4-4FB7-B2A5-F0C8BFAA9E48.jpg

That S8 install in the hood bulge was a PITA to install wasn't it? I modded my install....between the bar not being centered from top to bottom and the huge gap at the bottom between the bulge and the bar, it was driving me nuts.

I bought the mounts separate. They are made by Axia alloy. 2” diameter tube

I’m using the warn evo 12k. No need to relocate the controller with this one but had to cut some of the metal support behind the bumper. I just use the access hole in the grill to release the clutch lever.

From the pic it looks like you need some more trimming. I did not use any of the supplied trim either as I wanted a clean look. Using a flat file in one direction will help clean the cuts as well.

Wow, what a POS product. Thanks for the thread, OP. Will avoid this brand and probably stick to ARB.

Wow! I'm on my 2nd CBI bumper and have nothin but great things to say about their products and company. They have always been super supportive and helpful when I've contacted them, usually by phone. I can see where the lack of directions would bother some folks but it's just a bumper, It ain't that hard.

I ran into this exact problem last night. Took months beyond expected shipping date to get. Zero instructions, and it looks absolutely horrible with the factory skid. I’m so disappointed with this entire company. I ordered sliders that also have issues. May end up sending them both back but now my factory bumper is already cut.

LTaco I would love to know what you had to relocate in order to fit a winch in this bumper. I’m almost positive I’ll be moving what I believe is either the steering cooler or trans cooler.

What year is your truck? Mine is a 2020 so no trans cooler but I did have to slightly bend the brackets for the power steering cooler to keep some distance so no rubbing occurred. Yes it was a little bit of time consuming to get everything adjusted correctly but the time spent doing so was worth it. I did have to cut a section of the thin metal of the factory bumper support for the winch solenoid... nothing out of the norm for most slimline style bumpers.

Nice build. Lots of quality parts. I did not like the design of that bumper in pictures but on your truck it looks great.
