    $7K to replace both cat's, make me wonder how much it would be to reprogram the ecu to ignore the cat back O2 sensor and just run strait pipe. Just idle curiosity of course, that would be illegal.

    Where do you folks live that you get the Cats cut off your vehicles and stolen. I have only heard of this happening with junk yard cars, not vehicles that are sitting in you driveway. I am baffled...

    I wonder why they didn’t just extend some Reinforced wings over the cats. Seems like it would be easy to do when cutting the plate.

    Maybe you dont get out that much?

    My shop is in a small industrial park in a crappy area and there are a few Car Dealers and Contractors there that have vehicles stored outside and this is a really all too common occurrence along with just outright vandalism and theft to be fair about it.

    I am pretty sure this happens anywhere there are like circumstances and enough people to have all kinds present.

    They are pretty dedicated and methodical in these parts.

    Yeah that’s pretty hefty considering how many cats the tundra has. Compared to 7000 dollars to replace it seems reasonable I guess.

    I tried scrapping a couple of them once and the yard wouldnt give me any money without vehicle titles for them.

    I'm not sure where they are taking them, but where ever they are cashing them in at now is probably already illegal anyway.

    I'm guessing OP lives in CA. You cant use cheap universal cats there. It wont pass inspection. It's a rip off.

    Damn... where do you scrap cats??? I've been looking online, but I've come up short... I have my MR2's converter for the last 6 years, been trying to scrap it but no one in CA would take it, lol... on the other note I had my Celica's cat replaced and it seemed it was getting serious at the beginning of the lock down.. them Prius are getting totalled out due to their cats being a dealer only option.

    Yes, they're dealer only options, I was chatting with the muffler shop guy at a mom and pop shop and he said he had 5 on order and his phone was consistently ringing for the hour and a half I was there...He stated they're dealership options only and they aren't just the cat it makes it more expensive when it comes with the whole piping, but that's the only options for the entire hybrid line which is pretty much all the Prius... Sourcing them from the dealership is gonna take a couple kidneys and maybe a couple of eyeballs as well...
