Catalytic Converters

Seriously though, thanks for the various links. I'll be parking this truck outside when I get it and this is a serious concern of mine.

 

I was born in 1944 and at no time in these last 78 years has the phrase “You do realize…” been construed as being “rude”, at least by reasonable people.

 

I would agree, but people are less and less reasonable these days.

 

I bought that one and installed it the other day. Seems to get the job done! They also send security bolts for free

 

I know nothing on this topic but would adding protection and skid plates block heat dissipation and cause more issues in the long run?

 

They're vented to help with that. And I'd rather risk potential problems down the road than to find them missing one day.

 

At least the 1st Gens are kinda charming in their cranky snarkyness. Not too sure about this new generation...

 

Installed the CCM cat shield last weekend. Very nice fit and finish, and comes with security fastners. Got the 3/16 plate with rear cat protection- $650 shipped. Received 5 days after ordering.

The truck only has 2 cats and the other 2 past that are resonators. I wouldnt buy crap because it's not needed.

 

It's likely an overestimation a catalytic converter thief will have the wearwithall to differentiate between a resonator adjacent to a catalytic converter that's disarmingly similar to the converter and the converter itself. Most tundra post-theft pictures show the resonator and converter cut out, i.e. thieves cut out all they can get and ask questions later.

Well, you're wrong.

 

Will the catalytic converter shield/plate need to be dropped to grease the drive shaft universal joints? Or do the shields not go back that far? Thanks
