I read that Tundra, Tacomas, F250 and the Prius top the list for converter thieving A-holes.
At my office/shop this past week the little fuckwts took 4 cats off 2 of our F-250s and a Tacoma.
One of our guys started up a F250 and you'd think it was a NASCAR race in the parking lot with that rumble.
Cops arrived to write up a useless as shyte crime report.
They told me the nearby Toyota dealerships are getting hammered by well organized gangs who can jack up a Prius and Sawzall out a cat in no time. Prius ones are fetching $2-3,000 in Chicago ( Figures)
Since I have a Tundra and its easily accessible underneath i wonder if I'm living on borrowed time here?

What a bunch of faces. Any place where these losers would turn in the cats has to know they were stolen. Why take them in and or pay out money for crap that you know is stolen? The folks turning them in should have to show ID and get finger printed on order to collect any money. If nothing else would be easier to catch if PDs were adequately staffed and funded.

Of course....you could not steal in the first place!

    I agree with you but.....

These recycling centers are not crooks. You have to provide your name/id/business of where these catalyst are coming from. Unless you are a junk yard/auto repair facility, or owner of parts and can prove where all the exhausts are coming from they will not take them.

Trust me, my wife has fired a "few" employees that were stealing copper bus bars and attempting to recycle. They were arrested on the spot and then fired.

How people are getting away with it from what I have heard is shipping containers heading overseas/out of the US.

After reading about all these thefts on here finally ordered my Valhalla’s shields. Don’t know the wait time, but I’m sure it will be worth it.

Dealer is going to install a shield not sure what brand.
Pretty sure I'll add a Valhallas rear shield to it.

They gave me a rental 2021 Tacoma.
Not really sure I'd call it a truck.
It works but I really don't care for it.
    It's too small..

If you want to keep your truck get a shield for the CATs. Insurance companies are now totalling vehicles if they get hit 3 times by thieves. Since they have to pay for a rental vehicle, which is expensive because of the vehicle/chip shortage, rental companies are charging more than usual. With the supply chain problem and CAT shortage (see 1lowlife's post) those rental car prices are costing insurance companies a LOT of money. So it's cheaper for them to just cut people a check for their vehicle instead of having it repaired a third time.

Wow. First I've heard of this development. Is this across the board, or are particular insurance companies known for it?

My State Farm policy has a $1500 limit per claim for a rental.
I passed that several days ago @40 per day..

The service advisor said he would get Toyota to eat anything over that since it isn't my fault they can't get parts.
Luckily my rental is from the dealership.
Not sure how it would play out otherwise...:eek2:

The cat theft happened at noon in my employer's parking lot.
My Drone alarm app went off with a 2ng stage trigger.
Employer accepts no responsibility for it.

I was told this by a friends who works for Toyota parts distributor. So he knows all about the shortage, supply issues and demand for CATs.

So knowing that, then having a coworker have the CAT cut off his first gen Tundra in front of his house while he was home, I ordered a Valhalla shield. Thieves are always looking for the quickest score.

I heard Russia and that region of the world. I’ve been very fortunate to not have anything like this happen to me. Both the wife and I park in the garage, our work facilities are gated/armed guards, and our place is gated and could be armed.

Nope. It's the dirtbag criminal theives' fault. Just because somebody will pay them for a crime doesn't absolve them from the responsibility, or from being a piece of shit.

I live in the boonies but still got a cat plate (got the Desert Eagle one) for the once per year I travel to FL or TN to fly so I dont get hammered. So far so good.. worth the $$ to deter the crackheads.

The easiest way out is to remove the badges from your truck and replace them with Dodge Ram badges. As long as the thief can read he will think that is not the truck he is looking for (Ben Kenobi voice).

I work for the dealer, when I scrap old cats that were replaced it’s a headache to do. Even though I bring them whole. (Not sure someone would unbolt a whole Camry manifold for a cat, but hey, I’ve seen crazier shit)

I’m actually on the fence about even bothering to install cats when I do my exhaust. These bastards have been cutting the skid plates people install lately. 2 priuses have been totalled at work because they cut through the skid plates and took the cats. (Yes prius skids are now a thing)
