They dropped my Valhalla shield and then stole my cats. Left it on the ground under my truck. But way to be... well you know what you’re being. And it isn’t helpful if that’s where you were aiming.

You’re not wrong. I edited my post. It was not helpful.

Sorry about the damage to your truck. That’s the first and only instance I am aware of that the plates were removed.

I'm sorry to hear this. I have a couple questions though.

Did you install the shields with security bolts?
If you used security bolts, which ones did you use?
Did you also use the Rock Domes so the thief would have a more difficult time just cutting the bolt head off?

Nope. Just whatever nuts and bolts came with it. Reality is they are going to get it if they want it. I could make it harder but they could also screw up more stuff getting it off.

I’m suitably annoyed that I may order some security screws when I get some new cats. I think the real solution is going no cats and turning off the rear 02 sensors until this gets under control. I don’t see anything I could do other than that dissuading a determined thief.

Nailed it. I have no cats. No codes. No worries. Yes I've been targeted and no they didn't do shit to my truck. They instead rolled underneath a Sequoia and started cutting on hers.

I went full header replacement and opted for no cats (I do have a set to install if the time arises). The exhaust has upstream o2 sensors (Denso) and I'm DAP tuned. I've only had 2 CELs which went away with new sensors.

My local inspection shop doesn't do a visual so I get passed every year.

What about wrapping the running boards, steps, sliders, etc. w/some razor wire. I'm pretty sure thieves aren't paying attention to them when they dive under the car, and I'd imagine they work even faster coming back out from under it. Some significant lacerations and DNA left behind seems to be fair trade....

That’s insane. I’ve got the full coverage Cat Security plates, really hoping that will keep these shit heads at bay.

This shit is getting out of control. Every time a new thread pops up about this, it makes my blood boil. Nothing worse than a common piece of shit thief.

Magnaflow universal cats seem to be working for some. I would do those for temp use and install a O2 spacer to clear codes.

Desert Eagle Offroad is up your way, I think. If you have a 4-wheel drive, you might contact him and see if he has any shields in stock for when you get your truck back. Valhalla is a good way to go also, especially if you don't have 4-wheel-drive. Just thinking you could avoid shipping costs if you are near Desert Eagle.

That sucks - I've got a Desert Eagle on mine and it was a bitch it get it installed under the Pro Skid Plate. The could pull the bolts from the back but I have no idea how they'd get that pro plate loosened enough to pull get it off. But, like you said, if they want it bad enough, they'll figure out a way.

Appreciate it. I don't have 4 wheel drive. I went ahead and ordered the shields from Valhalla. Taking the truck to the shop on Monday..we'll see what they say.

Or run a hidden drop cord from the house and hook it to the cats at night and wait for the scream...or at least for the lights to flicker

Shop left me a vm saying that they have other tundras in same condition and to get OEM it could be 6 months to a year wait......

Might be faster with after market parts but several toyota dealers told me to wait for OEM because aftermarket will have CEL issues.

So pissed. I think I'm going to have to buy another car...maybe a 4runner.

I actually decided to just get a catless exhaust so I don’t have to deal with it. If anyone needs OEM cats lmk. I think they only have 39k miles on them. I’m in the DFW area.

Thank you, but I don't need them.
I'm driving a 2021 rental Tacoma and Toyota is paying for it until my parts come in.
I'm sure there is someone that needs them a lot more than I do.

Interesting to see if your CE light comes on and if your truck passes annual state emissions testing.
There are certainly ways around it if either happens.
Plenty of places will sell you an illegal sticker and report to the state that it passed for the right price.
I have a coworker with a supercharged Ford 150 without cats and he said his truck is correctly tuned and passes inspection.
    Good luck..

Ya I have a harrop using VFTUNER, and I decided to go with LTH with this exhaust switch. So I’m going try defoulers or I’ll just go to my friends “guy” for the annual.
