The rear of the cats is not going to be protected on any of the plates, from what I'm seeing. The issue is getting the area at the sides just in front of the front cats to be protected. MOST do not do that. The modern $99 Cordless Milwaukee MINI-SawsAll with a $6 long blade will get to this area and be done in 30 seconds. After they cut the part you pointed at its all pulled out as one piece. All the BS skidplate talk is great when the thief is using a 30 year old tool. It seems to me the Valhalla shield does protect this front area but have only seen pictures. Nobody protects the ass end, again from what I have seen, where a simple rod or chunk of steel would prevent the huge cats from sliding out. I bought the CBI Full Skid purely for off-road protection but had to modify the front with extra steel plating and the rear with a simple addition just to prevent easy removal. Skidplates absolutely work if they are built properly but I have yet to see that.

$744 back in January, that was including the nut plate, his security bolts, and black power coat.
It was worth it to me for full coverage.

I just preordered his V3 plate that will put a lip/wall up on the back end, it was $180.
Plus $50 or so for the bolt domes from another vendor.

Cutting them off is too quick. Eliminate a step and just burn them off with your small blow torch.

WOW, I guess I just wasted $900 and 3 hours of my time after waiting 8 months to get my truck back from stolen cats.
Maybe I should just leave my fullly charged Sawzall under the truck whenever I park it..

The shields are deterrent, not a guarantee.
99.999% of thieves are going to go on to an easier and faster target..

The thieves that stole mine were such dumbfucks they left one side hanging..

I had one side side of mine stolen yesterday. Front row parking of a office building with walls of windows in the middle of a work day didn't make them hesitate at all. Someone on the first floor saw the vagrants and stopped them from taking the passenger side. Good samaritan gave me their license plate # and vehicle description, and I turned that into a name and address in minutes. Toyota said there was a waiting list for parts, so I went to Napa and picked one up same day for $700 including an o2 sensor (much better price than the $1400 OEM, quality I'm sure isn't as good but I can't fathom being without my ride for months). Driving was embarrassingly loud and added to the already blistering anger.

I've been lurking occasionally in this thread for a while and thought about getting those deterrent plates, but I thought my area would be plenty safe without. Shame on me for having some lingering faith in humanity haha

Im gonna end up using their own sawzall on them out of principle if I catch them messing with my shit. Really annoyed I’ll have to spray off the driveway and haul them off to the swamp afterward. Gas isn’t cheap and all that…

Disclaimer: I did this out of desperation. Do at your own risk.

I had to use my truck yesterday and did an hour round trip. Damn noise finally got to me. Today I went to a local auto shop store and bought muffler pieces to build a straight pipe. 95% of the noise is gone and no more exhaust smells in the truck. Going to keep it like this until it gets fixed (still have no ETA on parts). Yearly inspection is next May so I hope the parts arrive by then. At least now I can carry my kayaks. About $60 for all of the parts.

My catalytic converters were stolen while parked for 40 hours at a barbed wire enclosed parking lot at the Austin airport. Truck sounds disgusting.

I have a $1K insurance deductible and I believe the wait for Catalytic converters from Toyota is lengthy (months?). Plus, getting OEM back on means I need $500 in Cat protection out of my pocket or the time to deal with this again potentially in the future.

    Should I go aftermarket?

If I go OEM, can I have someone weld in a straight pipe for the months I have to wait for repair (I know it will have a code with no O2 sensors)?

I need the truck the next 4-6 months.

Any Gen 2 Sequoia aftermarket success stories?

Sorry that has happened to you.

The general consensus is to stick with OEM as aftermarket catalytic converters aren't as efficient and will result in fault codes (check engine light).

As you mentioned, while you are waiting for parts which seems like people are saying 6-9 months, order some cat shield so you are protected after the truck is fixed.

Is there a way to modify (straight pipe) so you can drive until parts arrive?

It took 8 months to get my replacement cats.
My dealership paid for my loaner for 7 months while waiting for cat parts.
    Insurance paid for 30 days.
See if the local dealer can do it for you.

    As to running straight pipes;
It's illegal in Texas, I think it is illegal for a shop to even do it.
It depends on when your TX inspection is due.
If you just had it done, you've 12 moths until your next one.
But you will have CEL and other dash lights when you drive.

    Good luck..
