I heard car alarms going off around 0300, I looked out my window and saw a 4door sedan going down the ramp and told the hotel manager and local police when they came to take the reports. Hopefully they can get a plate number but more than likely there were no plate or a fake paper one.

    Hello,
I went with the 1/8 steel. Line-x it for more texture. Came out nice.

Wonder if beads of jb weld would stop Sawzalls since it's hard as hell. Or jb weld sawzall blades if no access to a welder.

Anyone make a rear plate that will work with this?

if you are willing to drill holes in my plate(s) then yes. A rear plate alone wouldn’t help for cat theft, but would work for skid plate purposes. That being said I don’t see why you couldn’t put a front cat plate couldn’t be bolted with the transmission skid you have in the picture with a few holes drilled in it

I was thinking to get the 2 plates you have in thick aluminum. question for you

1-do you have info where they bolt up to? maybe pic
2-I believe you have 3 plates to be a complete set up I am guessing the front plate I can add anytime.

    thanks for you help
2021 tundra trd off road so I dont think they will be a issue with fitment

I say rear plate because I already have skid plates up front, so I thought adding a rear plate would at least cover 2 of my 4 cats.

Yes obviously larger population centers or towns close to them are more apt.

I was thinking the other day, has anyone ever had their truck vandalized possibly because of their cat plates? I wonder if thieves would get pissed that there are plates and key the truck or flatten tires? I imagine most of the lowlifes just want the cats as quick as possible and will move on if they cannot make a quick cut and run.

I live in the middle of nowhere in the Ozarks....and they've struck even here, about 10 miles away. Sounds kind of far, till you consider that's exactly how far away the closest town is.

thinking of adding an alarm system using an arduino board. for the catalytic converted i'd use IR motion sensors and a loud as hell alarm. also figure out how to send out a text to myself every time the alarm goes off.

since my tundra doesn't currently have the alarm system armed i could put in some magnetic sensors on the doors and the camper shell. i live out of it so it would be nice to have the added security for all my stuff that's inside.

huge problem here and wow is it frustrating. I have not had a problem myself, but nervous to put my lift on without one. One of the major MTB locals had a huge hit about 3 months ago - they skipped the protected ones. And yes @IowaGuy I've heard of retaliation - VERY VERY rare but have heard 2 different instances - both tire slashings (one on SL tires and one on Load E - just scratched the tire). I have been looking myself and <deleted> I found my answer here. Thank you @Classy63 for your solution and only wish I was still down in Houston to pick them up locally.

    protect the valuables!

Same; and all jokes aside, they’re (meth heads) specifically WHY I have a set on order. And protection, and the like.

I would imagine since they want a quick buck, they wouldn't waste the time vandalizing when instead they can hit the car next to yours and make a bill.

Lately I have seen more video's on cat thieves using weapons for getting away. In that situation your G19 might help you out. However, good luck proving someone that is unarmed stealing something from your truck was life threatening.

Yea, wouldn’t work in my state. Can only use deadly force when your life is in danger and all means of escape has been exhausted. No right to protect property.

It's like that in most states.

There's worse things that eat at a man more than letting someone steal your property. For instance, financial ruin.

Years back, my CHL Instructor told us that shooting somebody would cost around $20,000+ and that was if your life was in danger.

Wow, that must have been a long time ago. Hell, I spent that easy on a Civil Lawsuit for an auto accident 5 years ago. Couldn't imagine a "wrongful death civil suit"...
