Yes and no, depends on how often you take it apart, antisieze will eventually get washed out by mother nature. Stainless and steel do not play together well over time. You might be bettor off using silicone to help keep the elements out, just my opinion.

 

Should be a way to rig up your cat so that it shocks the hell out of the low life trying to steal it... Heard this is becoming a common thing again.

 

Everyone still able to contact Desert Eagle? Texted Ken last week, he said call him in a week. Did so, and no answer and the voicemail is full. Tried twice. If there’s a list for the cat protection skid plates I’m in.

 

I gave him my details when I texted him. He confirmed receiving. I believe he’s going to PayPal invoice people once he gets the plates ready to go.

 

I texted and gave only my name, said I saw the forum and was interested. His reply was only to “call him in a week”. I don’t want to pester the man, but....

 

I texted him last week and he told me to call him in a week because that crazy texas winter storm shut everything down. I texted him today, and KW said to watch for a call from him on Sunday to arrange payment

 

I got on the list Feb 5th. He originally told me he was looking at Feb 25th to ship. That date came and went, so I texted him again to see where we’re at. He told me to expect a call from him this weekend.

but now I am concerned with cooling of the cats and transmission.

it’s bull shit that we even have to give thought to securing the cats on our vehicles from theft.

Edit, I spoke with the tech that installed the plate, he said there should be no cooling or heating issues with the plate installed for either the cats of transmission. He said there is still plenty or airflow, just that if I take it into deep mud to be sure to wash out the top f the plate, I looked at him and said, yaaaaa you can tell this is a pavement pounder for the most part...

 

I’d be surprised if you see a difference in trans temps due to that plate being installed. Do you already monitor your trans temps with a Bluetooth OBDII scanner and the fusion OBD app?

You could install the plate, then make an appointment with a muffler shop or a welder to weld a rebar cage on each side around the cats or weld some chains to the cats and frame. Then sell your plate.

 

I decided to text Desert Eagle again today, and got a call right back. Kent (or Ken not sure) said he's backlogged because dealerships are ordering the skid plates 100-150 at a time. The retailers (us from the forum) he can handle. I was placed on the list so I should hear something in the next few weeks. And for those of you saying he is a really nice guy...you are not wrong. He was awesome.

 

Dealerships are getting hit hard. I ordered mine from a dealer in texas at the time they had 20 in stock.

Back in the '70s we lived in a subdivision, I had a new Blazer and once in a while I would see footprints on the hood. I had a full power fence charger, I made a good ground and hooked the hot side to the frame. A few days later my stepson said it shocked the hell out of one of his friends. There were no more footprints on the hood after that. It worked for me, hope it will work for anyone that wants to try it.

 

Anyone do business in purchasing a cat shield from Valhalla shields in Cypress Tx.?...

 

My Desert Eagle skid is on the way from KW tomorrow.

I will be drilling a couple holes in it to make it work with my RCI skid.

 

Yeah i have the RCI as well so we are in the same boat. Mine will be here Tuesday.

 

Mine was in Ocala (About 100 miles from here) at noon today, so I wouldn't be suprised if it's here a day early.

I hate to be a squeaky wheel, but I park outside (truck is too tall for my 1959 garage), and there has been some recent cat theft activity in the area that is making me nervous.

 

Just imagine if the cc thieves started selling skid plates. Anything is possible!

 

If anybody tries to steal my cats I will definitely use another type of Desert Eagle as my deterrent!

 

I dont blame you, but it takes those thieves a minute or so, seriously they are stupid fast, doubtful you would ever know it happened until start up.

 

My cat was stolen on my 2000 Honda Accord with 302k miles original cat in front of my house many cars are getting hit in chicago we got a couple descriptions of the getaway cars on an app called Nextdoor with out of state plates just hoping one day one of these cars fall off the jack and crushes one of them.

My wife works for the local school district's transportation dept. They had a cat stolen from a box truck this weekend that was parked behind a locked fence. That's 2 that I know of in the last week. So far it looks like they are hitting the commercial vehicles. Probably figure our small town is easy pickings.

I called Don McGill and they are holding a Desert Eagle plate for me. Said they just got 35 in. It's a 2 hour drive to Katy but better than a few weeks without my Tundra.
