Fire dept. I work on 24 off 48. It's near impossible to get on in Nashville so idk how it is where you live but having to only work 9-10 days a month and being off for 20 days is great for the family. Plus pension and gov benefits

That would be awesome but custody issues come into play when it comes to relocating from Texas.

    Bree,
What about being a guard in a school. It's sad that we even need them but what going on in this world is crazy.
Here in NY they hire retired police and military for that position. You would work days with weekends and holiday's off just like your kids.
Can you claim a hardship with your current job and get a M-F, 9 to 5 job?
Hopefully you will find something that fits.

Ever consider project management? A lot of your skills and military experience may serve as a good transition into that field.

I agree with this, Bree. I don't exactly know but I have a friend who does this and loves it; she said she basically oversees big projects from start to finish, making sure everything gets done. You get to know who does what in the company/ or the field, and coordinate). What you've shared about your job experience seems in line to me.

You'd need to take the initiative, do some lookin' around yourself, to get a handle on what it is, and how many such jobs there are near you but, for a job I'd never heard of, I now know this is a good gig to which your experiences should translate.

As far as i know they aren't hiring security at the schools here. They have parents that volunteer. My current job won't give me a Mon-Fri job at the pay i make now. Doesn't work that way with them..... at least not on the corrections side.

The lady that taught my certification course is ex-air force and teaches some military and transitioning veterans groups as well. If you're interested I could ask if she's willing to talk/email about the profession.

    Educational level?

Teach college classes. I love it. It’s the same schedule as my kids. Summers off, spring break, fall break, Christmas, etc.
