Can you talk me into a crewmax from a DC?

Definitely don’t pull trigger on a near 60k investment simply because you would have to wait a few more months. It will make getting the one you want all that much better :). I have a crewmax because I will need the space for car seats and dogs. I would loooooove a dc and probably would have gotten one if it was our camping rig. I have an old land cruiser and a RTT for that :). I think dc for you makes much more sense!

Sounds like you made your decision. Congrats on the gift. It will be worth the wait to get exactly what you want. I made the mistake of settling on my first tundra. I enjoyed it but not nearly as much as I enjoy my current tundra.

Just traded from a CM to a DC. It’s all about how you use the backseat. Mine became a storage locker because the bed on the CM is just too small. Definitely worth the wait if you need the bed space.

I’ve got a CM and so thankful I didn’t settle for the DC that I looked at but you are in the opposite situation!

Hahaha, yeah I'm planning on keeping this baby for a looooong time. I've never had the option of a new vehicle before and all the choices led to way too much analysis paralysis.

To also chip in, the DC backseat is NOT small. An adult can comfortably sit in the backseat of a DC. Maybe if you're coming from a mega cab Dodge or something is the DC backseat tiny, but even if I had kids I would get the DC since the bed space is the reason to have a truck, and that 6.5ft gets used up fast.

I guess that depends how "very well" is defined. Rear-facing seats definitely need to go in the middle or else the seat in front would have to be moved uncomfortably forward, but in the middle it works great. My son is six years old and about 48" tall and sits right behind me. I'm just a hair under 6'5" and have my seat pretty far back and he still has leg room. Again, the crewmax definitely has a lot more room, but the DC still has a lot of room as far as most DCs in the industry go.

If I was single with dog, I would be in less of a hurry. And Magnuson now makes a supercharger. It’s a game changer for the Taco.

Definitely pick one that best suit your needs. I chose DC because I bring the whole kitchen sink on camping trips, do occasional dump trips, and not much overhang when buying plywood/lumber/etc from Home Depot. The back seat is not bad either in my opinion. I'll never go back to shortbed truck.

Patience is a virtue. Wait. Get the Tunny you want. A DC is ideal for your needs. You are in Utah which is pretty much the same here in CO weather wise. You will survive until January:thumbsup:

Plus with a DC you can have more underseat storage than with a CM which comes in real handy if you are out about a lot in the sticks. I have all kinds of stuff in my underseat OEM storage bin. You would have to chop cut out your cab floor to get less than half the underseat storage in a CM. My 1 cent.

Plenty of room in the DC and it’s the true pickup that looks cooler. The CM is a Sequoia with a tiny bed. You’re making the right choice. Worth the wait.

Do you plan on having/or have kids?

The CrewMAX definitely made the choice easier for us since we have kids. 3 rear facing car seats, needed all the interior room we could get.

    just another angle

The only kid I have (and want) is a pitbull.

I do work as a nanny for a family with 3 (4, 2, 2mo) but I primarily use their vehicles.

One last 1 cent for me. You will be waiting for a new color DC PRO! Yota will make many more CM PRO's in that new color. IMHO that makes that Lunar DC have more value in the long run but that shouldn't be the game changer. Getting the Tundra you desire is the true game changer:thumbsup:

I think the DC is the better choice for you. The 5.5 bed is short for sleeping and camping in.

    You're my new favorite person!

I hadn't seen any 2021 DCs anywhere and my dealer hadn't heard anything. Another dealer in town (a rude one at that) told me January and that made me panic a little

Double Cab all day. I’m 6’ 4” and sat in the back of my DC just fine. I also have two pits and they rode in the back with plenty of room. Loved the 6.5 foot bed.

The DC PROs are rare so you’ll get a lot of compliments. I did and mine was just a SR5

1st world problems! I struggled with the same decision and I ultimately went with the CM because I travel with adults frequently enough where the added room in the cab would be utilized more. About a month ago I moved a full size bed for my son and the bed rails and mattress didn't fit in the box and there were a few :rant:moments of regret but that was fleeting.

Have your dealer search the country for the DC and buy a plane ticket if to far to be transferred. When I was looking for my quicksand CM the dealer had it brought in from another dealer 225 miles away.

Lastly, I upgraded in July from an 04 Limited with the 6.5' bed and it seems the cab on that truck was larger than the new DC. Does anyone know if that is true? I should have measured but never did.

It's a 4" queen size memory foam. I don't know the brand though. I got it from a friend that ended up putting a regular queen in their "vanlife" sprinter van.

Sounds like we have to talk you into waiting for a DC. It doesn’t make any sense to go with a shorter bed if you are basically during it into a camper.

My advice is wait or go find one :)
