I've lived overseas and the midwest, and travelled a lot. CA is something else. I've been wanting to move for a while now. Thinking SC.

And whatever you do, please double-check that power steering reservoir sooner than later. With how bad it's on tilt, I can see you running into issues with the pickup/return hoses grabbing air, and you don't want air in the lines.

You can see the (I believe return) hose at ~4 o'clock on the reservoir. Fortunately the supply line is closer to 6 o'clock, if memory serves, so less chance of pushing air, but ... you don't want to find out the hard way.

Congratulations on your new Gen 1 and welcome to the community. There are alot of very knowledgeable people on this forum that are willing to help you. One of the things I would focus on if it hasn't been done to your truck yet is your timing belt/water pump/thermostat. At the mileage you’re sitting at it’s a must if it hasn’t been done before.

checking it now. Looks like the only thing keeping the reservoir there is the hard and brittle hoses. Was thinking i could just replace the fluid and two hoses this weekend then set it back into those two grooves.

I plugged that back in by simply attaching it. Should i use a clamp or is that enough?

Same aged stain as below also here. No noticeable fresh liquid.

Interesting. Must be brake fluid then. Meanwhile, is that reservoir overly full, above the max line?

I'll grab some pics of how my PS reservoir is installed in a bit.

As with any vacuum lines, they should not be sloppy easy to slide on. If that one is easy to put on and has an adequate amount of extra length, cutting about an inch off will let it have a slightly smaller inner diameter and should cause it to be snug when going on. I would put all vacuum lines on a short to-do list for a quality check and possible replacement on your new to you truck. We don't want un-metered air bleeding by a loosey goosey vacuum line and mess with the ECU's brain.

How is it slotted in the bracket, though?

The larger hose is available from Toyota. The only way to get the smaller hose from Toyota is to buy the entire hard line set for $500. I bought an aftermarket hose set from Rock Auto for much less and cannibalized the rubber hose.

On the left side in my photo is a little tab. Pull back to unlock and then it slides straight up to release. The reservoir has two vertical ridges molded into it that slide into tabs in the bracket.

    this ^

i was unable to slot it in because the attached hoses wouldnt let it extend that far to either slide it in from the top/bottom,

You may need to remove the bracket, then attach to the reservoir, then re-bolt the bracket. That may be why it wasn't fastened correctly in the first place.

Also be sure to only use the OEM style hose clamps. They have better clamping for than the helical screw clamps you get at the FLAPS

The reservoir sits at an angle on some trucks. Thought it was an early truck thing. Mine sits at an angle as well. Some one else (@Jack McCarthy I think) said theirs was the same way.

@shifty` and everyone else. I did as advised and removed the bracket and slid the reservoir inside it, then re attached it. The metal molding to hold the reservoir was v shaped and it easily just went down into it. 5 min job.

Maybe it's an early truck thing then? That reservoir on OP's truck was clearly not seated porperly. The fill line is sitting at a 30 degree angle from the fluid level in the pic he posted.

Mine is the same way. I just make sure I have more than I need to compensate.

As my father would say "It looks like the work of a Nova Scotia carpenter".

I'm not sure where that's from but it implies they never used a level in their life.
