Nothing wrong with a Taco. I had a 2000 3.4 Prerunner for a bit and it was a great little truck.

Retirement plans have us doing a bit of towing close to the limit and the Taco just didn't tow worth a crap. Would have kept it forever other than that.

I wish I had video of the vehicles I pulled out with my ‘06 Tacoma. I could tell stories, but then everyone would just think I was telling stories.

I know how you feel. I went the other direction. I had planned to keep my Taco for at least another year until my bass boat blew up. I figured at 30-1/2 years old I had got enough use out of it. I was trying to hold out and buy the replacement boat and truck at the same time. Here is a pic of my Taco with 2200 Bay Champ hooked up coming home from La.. The boat and trailer actual weight is 5000 lbs with gear. Taco pulled it fine at 70-75 on hwy as long as I did not hit slow traffic and have to go around on a hill. The biggest problem I had was the size of the gas tank. I filled right before hooking up the boat and then twice more on the way home. The Tundra could have made the whole trip on one tank.WP_20170630_001.jpg00T0T_4OqrrcIdiIO_1200x900.jpg

Yeah, I’m sticking around for sure. Tacoma World sure is full of a lot of mouth breathers. Just had a dude tell me that the Tundra's 5.7 was gutless compared to the Taco's 3.5 o_O

Those 4.0s do have some balls, especially in an xtra cab

I'm really considering trading in my Tundra for a TRD Pro 4runner - there is a cavalry blue with the options I want local to me right now.. The only thing holding me back is all the room in the Tundra and the fact that I have so much in it aftermarket.. That being said I'm pretty sure I could trade in the Tundra and get the 4runner for only a few grand out of pocket.

Plus it would be easier to fit both vehicles in the garage...

He wasn’t quite that specific in his attempt at comedy.

But, the atmosphere there is far different over there to be sure.

Yeah, I assumed he was talking about the 3.5 because we were in the 3rd gen section. Either way, he’s probably feasting on a box of crayolas right now for thanksgiving.

Absolutely. It’s not even remotely close. Honestly, the 3.5 doesn’t feel too different than the 4.0 with the manual. Both of those engines don’t even belong in the same solar system as the 5.7.

It was a want vs need thing. Nothing wrong with the Tundra but it was just too much for my needs. I don’t own a trailer, I don’t haul anything heavy. I go off roading in the desert a lot and live on a base with the smallest parking lots imaginable.
I was originally going to buy a Taco in 2016 because that’s all I’ve ever hac but i couldn’t find a manual version and I was not impressed with the issues the autos were having.
I loved the Tundra. It’s arguably the best vehicle I’ve owned. But I got the Tacoma just for live-ability reasons. If I owned a trailer or needed an actual truck, I would have never traded it.

It’s already started... TRD Pro grille and shift knob are en route and I’m debating on spending 3-4 k on a set of kings or going the 6112/5160 route again. Don’t want big tires. The last thing the Tacoma needs is less power at the bottom end.
