No luck required. Do I need to get my lawyer to come on here to explain basic law????

GAP is peanuts $ per month. I believe in Murphy's Law. No GAP and you get in a very bad accident?? Injured severly?? Miss al ot of work?? Too cheap to pay for extended short/long term disability?? Give me a break again I wasn't born yesterday!!

I'm not arguing with you Matt. GAP insurance does nothing but cover the loan vs value. That is it. This doesn't cover short term/long term disability.

Gap insurance is an optional insurance coverage for newer cars that can be added to your collision insurance policy. It may pay the difference between the balance of a lease or loan due on a vehicle and what your insurance company pays if the car is considered a covered total loss.

lol wut? When my wife was rear ended in her Highlander, I asked if the party would be cited for following to closely. He said "absoulety" and did so.

Get a copy of the CR and see for yourself if the other party was issued a summons.

Rest of the responses: TL;DR :D

DV is required by law in most states that I am aware of. They usually require a fight but just one written appraisal from the dealership is all that is required. I have fought this for three different people with three different insurance companies, and won

A good insurance company will definitely try the DV route. Can't hurt.

    Whoa, this escalated fast!

Matt's right, Grant. Honestly, look at any wreck site, if you don't see a LEO pulling someone from a burning car or holding someone at gunpoint, what do you see them doing? Writing on a clipboard either in their car or while talking to the people involved. That's called writing a report. My buddies on the force always tell me it's better to write it in the field to prevent any memory lapses. Or at least take notes. I got my report on my last wreck years ago RIGHT after it happened. They'll give you an official case nbr and should be available the very next day.
Really? You think an 8 year old kid getting shot is funny? @mudsweatngearz

Law, you still are not getting the report right then and there.

He isn't laughing at the kid being shot, it is the huge overreaction.

The cop said no report right now ...period. Now if you are bad enough to take on 3 cops and beat a report out of them on the spot
Like Chris says...it aint happening in AZ anyway. The cop said no report right now ...period. Now if you are bad enough to take on 3 cops and beat a report out of them on the spot....well then you are the baddest ever

No not right then and there. Got mine after a day. At least that's how it was in the citiy I got in that wreck.

Ahh I can see that now. Was kinda hard to tell, though. In any case, I wouldn't have laughed if someone told me an 8 year old was shot, overreaction or not.

I have found out personally. Accident 5 years ago actually. Not my fault. In Denver. Was handed a copy of the police report right then and there. Gave it to my Geico agent the same day. By the way I hope no one ever needs "to find out personally" what it's like to see blood coming out of an 8 yr old's ear because he got shot in the temple at close range next door. Any first responder here will confirm that it totally sucks.

I went through a fairly similar scenario just over a year ago. My Tacoma however was totaled by a texting driver who had no insurance, no license and the vehicle he was driving was not his.

In my case, I carried uninsured motorist coverage which completely saved my bacon.

My insurance company gave me a very generous settlement for my Tacoma which I promptly put down on my new Tundra.

I am about ready to close out the personal injury portion of the settlement which is looking to be very generous as well.

At that point, my insurance company and not me will be tasked with recovering their money from the kid.

Always carry uninsured motorist coverage. It adds about $9 a month but with so many people driving without insurance, it's well worth it.

So are these uninsured drivers also driving without vehicle registration? That is one thing in CO you have to prove is that you have atleast liability insurance added to the vehicle by vin number before you can register the vehicle.

Guess the other option is they get insurance when registering and let it expire.

In California, you can register a vehicle without proof of insurance....unless it's a brand new vehicle.

They try to combat driving uninsured, by making a citation $1000. But the reality is, if they can't afford the insurance they won't be able to pay the citation either.
