First world problems, but the thing killing me the most about Covid is no bike parks opening!

ALso, I miss Canada riding, BC and Whistler are heaven on earth.

Fair enough! It’s a bummer the parks are closed still there, ours are open again obviously. I need to get to bc here soon, although interprovincial travel is frowned upon I think...

Well guys went on a modest ride today on my local state park trails. Finally got the little one back into daycare so I feel I can set some goals.

    1. Cut weight down to 200lbs max (225 as of today)
    2. Be able to comfortably ride in the big mountains for 3+hrs.
    3. Keep up with my riding buddies that I used to keep up with.

Those are some starter goals. Want to make sure I enjoy it and don’t stress about the things I cannot do. Just enjoy the ride and camaraderie of MTB. I started this to get healthy and enjoy nature 15+ years ago. Want to restart and get back to the basics. May even break out the flat pedals!
Have fun out there and stay safe. The ante has been upped from the good ole days with folks going way faster and jumping higher over the years. Rubber side down. (I’m talking to myself here too)

And on the retail therapy front I’m really itching to get a 1-up rack for easy bike loading. Think this will help me get out and ride a little easier and with the FWC on the way it will soon be a necessity. Should I get the one bike rack and an add on for low profile or just grab the two bike rack in case I want/need to eventually carry four bikes? I’m planning on making this a long term purchase. My most common rides are 10 minutes from my house solo, and 1 hr from my house with my neighbor (though for now his wife forbids us to carpool, oh covid)

If you can ever see yourself wanting to haul 4 bikes, I'd get the 2 bike rack. Better to have the option in my opinion.

picked up and installed the NV 2.0 base rack. man it is solid ! no wiggles at all and carries biked easily. Great idea ! thanks guys for the advice.
Also found out you can add the trail doc kit for the base version as well in case I want it in the future. KUAT has great CS, they are sending me 2 kids adapters free of charge.

do you guys recommend the Maxxis Minion DHF 3C EXO TR 27.5 Mountain Bike Tire - 27.5 x 2.3 ?
About to upgrade my son's bike, a REI DRT 1.1. stock tires are only 2.1.... I think max I can go on the rim is 2.3

I’m on 27.5x2.5” maxxis dhf and 27.5x2.3” dhr-2 I went riding with this setup last weekend and love it. So grippy with low rolling resistance.

I should mention, I came from worn shwalabe magic marys 27.5x2.3 front and rear. I was washing my front tire out often- hence stepping to the 2.5. So these feel amazing in comparison haha. I’m in honeymoon phase of new threads :)

I like this setup, I’m debating between this and the hitch option. With the 1up on the diamondback, you can’t open the cover, correct? How fast is it to get the bike rack on and off?

No, the cover doesn’t open. My plan is to get a bed slide. As for taking the rack off, the bars themselves have a quick release so not a lot of time. The whole thing will come off in one piece. The rack itself has 4 bolts so not hard either if you want to do it that way.

DHF is a solid choice, been running it in the front for a while now. Great front or rear. If you want good front bite and better rolling resistance pair it up with a Maxxis aggressor in the rear. Just like our trucks, no better upgrade than tires.
