Love this thread! Once I get my bikes up on the Tundra, I"ll contribute. So far only the former Tacoma championed my rides.

16.5lbs and FAAAST!...mind you, it's all about the 'engine' (power plant) right?

I enjoy mountain biking as well. I've been so busy with life I haven't been out much the past few years. No pics at the moment but I have an 09' Cannondale F4 (hardtail, hydraulic disc, headshock) I bought new, still looks/rides like new. I have some BMX/MX roots and would really love to get into downhill, reminds me of BMX and Motocross a bit.

o_O Are you serious? That's ridiculous! It always threw me through a loop when a brand new 450cc motocross bike is cheaper than some of these high end bicycles... but, that's also comparing apples to oranges.

My steed. Nothing really fancy but it is my first proper road bike and has been a perfectly reliable friend over the past 4 years. I just got it tuned up and will be using it to commute daily since I only live 3 miles away from my work.
I also thought people were nuts spending thousands on a bicycle until I rode one.

Me and my girl have gotten into biking lately. Looking to take a step up from the walmart beach cruisers and get a decent hybrid bike geared more towards comfort than anything else. Will see the occasional trail, but mostly neighborhood paved roads and grass.

Any suggestions on a good entry level hybrid bike? I'm a bit overwhelmed after trying to research some online. Looks like Schwinn and Diamondback are both good options, but I'm not really wanting to spend $500+ on a bike at this point, just want something that I wont have to replace every 3-6 months.

I would check with the different dealers (trek, giant, etc..) to see if they can order you a model that's a few years old new. I did that with my wife's bike and save $200 over the new models retail price.

Go for a Trek, Scott, or even Ghost from REI. Each of these manufacturers sell a lot of bikes and you can typically haggle over last year's models for around that $500 range. I got my wife a $1400 bike for $600 from a local shop that was clearing out. Don't know where you live but all of our bike shops turn into ski shops and have to flush out around Labor Day. I grabbed a $3700 bike for $1900 of the rental line. Just don't commit to the "pretty" bike that your wife will want. They make pretty ones expensive for a reason. They aren't always good components.

You can get a decent used bike at below 500. Check Craigslist.

Stopped by a few local shops today. Think I'm gonna go with the Raleigh Venture 3.0. Torn between that and the Jamis Explorer. Seems like the Raleigh has better shimano components then most others at that pricepoint (still on the low end of the spectrum but thats to be expected for what I want to spend).

Sorry took so long to reply to you. Yea man the 11-6 is awesome. I had a cane creek double barrel on my SB-66 it was really good also just with this build I wanted something little better. But I will say if you can get an 11-6 or try one out you will be impressed.
