Does anyone sell clip in setups to use the OEM bed rails to attach bike forks with the wheel off?

I've ridden Sea Otter, Waterdog, UCSC and been to the Carlmont side, but no big hucking. As I get older with more responsibility and less time I'm moving more towards cross country, gravel, trail type stuff and less big jumps.

Yep. I have one. Works slick. Nice and solid. The only downside is you have to pull the wheel and it isn't compatible with my tonneau cover, so I dont use it anymore.

Thanks for the picture! Does the axle mentioned in the instructions come with it? When you take the wheel off, you have an open fork...so what does it clip onto?

You use your axle. It comes with several different thickness adapters for the different diameter axles. In my case, I have a 20mm threaded axle. I pull the axle to drop the wheel and then re-install the axle to the fork. Then I set the axle into the holder and clamp it down.

yep. not too many of them around these days. frame is about 22 years old. i had it custom built when i was racing full time. still just as comfortable today.

when i win the lottery, i'll retire it, strip it and hang it on the wall. replacement frame would be a custom carbon job from alchemy who, by the way, has a couple of welders and a couple of painters who came from serotta when they shut down.

the more likely scenario is that i'll strip it down and take it to alchemy for a new paint job.

I have two in the back of my Tundra. I velco the front wheel to the rear and run cable locks through the front and rear tie downs. Mine have seen a lot of miles.

You don't see too many Ti bikes anymore considering their popularity during their day like Moots, Seven, Kish, Litespeed. All just beautiful.

The Arktos 27.5 looks insanely fast just sitting still. Would love to demo one some day.

i love my serotta. not as light as carbon but the handling makes up for it. descends like a beast and stays planted under power.

there's a reason the arktos looks fast. the designer went to alchemy from yeti. same guy that designed the original yeti sb frames.

what i love about alchemy, besides being local, is that they hand roll all of their own tubes. they used to buy carbon from taiwan like everyone else but then invested in the kilns and the rest of the hardware to do it all in house. i've taken a tour. it's pretty impressive.

I’ll be buying the new 1up. I’ve had a Kuat and it was ok, but the new 1up seems bombproof. That’s a lot of bikes! https://www.1up-usa.com/product/equip-d-double/
All the racks you mentioned are good, the 1up is just way more robust. All aluminum construction.

I still want a Ti cx bike. Badly. When I travel I can only take one bike (family takes up the other 3 slots) so I can't take both the road and mountain bikes. A cx bike with two sets of rims in Ti would be sweet. It wouldn't handle real mountain biking but out west, you can rent decent bikes in a pinch.

    N+1...

I have the old version of thw Kuat and it's good but not great. The new one looks much better. The 1UP looks way better. I want some roof top 1UP's for the top of the tonneau cover (I put bars on). A friend of mine has the roof top ones on his truck and loves them.

That would also solve my bike limitation and I'd be able to take more than 4 bikes. But I still want a Ti cross bike.

i have the kuat for 4 bikes. thing is bullet proof. the spare tire on my bumper doesn't let me use the innermost bike rail nor will it fold up but, that's okay, i don't leave it on the truck full time anyway.

i actually kinda wish i had sprung for a north shore rack.

I heard that they had a Designer/Engineer from Yeti over there and the suspension was comparable , if not better, than the Switch Infinity. Not sure what spec of the is truth but it's enough pique my interest! ColoRADo and UTAH has some sweet bikes. I can hardly find anyone on an Alchemy here. Road trip is in the plans.

i've not ridden one and have only seen a handful actually on the trail. just knowing how well my sb-66c handles and how the alchemy guys build frames, i can only imagine it's a rocket. lottery dreams... :D

Always need 4-6 bike carrier. Hard to find.

UHHHG. Racks are the bane of my existence.

    I have a Northshore NS-4. I wouldn't do it again.
Pro: Easy to load bikes, pretty stable.
Con: Back Wheels drag on steep departure angles. It's not the the rack the hits, it's your carbon rims. Ask me how I know.
    - Started rusting almost immediately.
    - Super heavy to lower down for the wife or kids. Awkward to raise back up and hold ion place to pin it when loaded with bikes. Almost need two people. Usually I have the kids pin it for me.
-Will NOT hold oversized head tubes like ANY EVIL bike unless you bend the metal holders out.
-NO road bikes or gravel bikes...well it can, but they are awkward.

Yakima/Thule tray racks: Used both, both were just meh. I like the adjustable side to side trays but they didn't last long

KUAT: Have the newer KUAT on my wife's car. 4 bike tray. $$$ Problem is with 4 bikes if bars are any wider than 740mm you'll end up banging into each other. Most of our bikes are 760-800mm bars.

My buddy just showed me a brand new rack he has. It was a vertical , wheel tray but the to release the rack and lower it was a strut. SUPER nice and slow. You don't have to hold anything. Two of my riding buddies used it and bought their own immediately. They are PRICEY, but comparatively to a 4 bike KUAT or NS, its the same. Seem like a good alternative.

    Check it out.

They kick out some pretty epic videos.

I love the guy dragging in the new bike box, "hear me out, it was free shipping...and it's the last one I promise". Always N+1 lol

out the door early for a long ride. beautiful morning. would have preferred being in the dirt but there isn't any chance of me heading to trails this weekend. so, just cruising around town. was nice not having to battle the wind from the past few days. might try for some dirt therapy next week.

the Kuat will be wayyyyysturdier than that Yakima. The bikes sway a lot and rub a lot on that Yakima style hanging rack. You’ll be a lot happier with the Kuat tray rack.
