I got out for a short ride today. The trails are still pretty much mud. It's basically a slog, not a ride. Also, I'm disliking my Rockhopper more and more. Big time buyer's remorse. 29" wheels suck, the handling sucks, the shifting and gearing sucks. I'm gonna start looking at a new bike and hopefully pick something up when I get back to work. I'd like an enduro style bike, but I'll even take a hardtail again if it gets me off this Rockhopper. I just need something that can handle 50:50 technical climbs and downhills with a bit of casual jumps and free riding now and then. Something I can throw around and play with.

It maybe just the setup. What year is it?
I think the 27.5 bikes rail. My Ibis Ripmo is 29 and that thing rocks. I also really liked the Evil Wreckoning. That bike is a beast and heavy but I think the Ibis climbs really really well. The Pivot wasn’t far behind either. My wife’s yeti is a rocket uphill but more of a trail bike. Although to be fair I’m way overbiked for my
Trails but it’s fun as shit.

Hell yeah. I may end up with a 27.5 though. Took one for a spin last fall. The difference between it and my 29er was like a Supra vs a 1 ton truck.

It's a 2018. I'm only 5'5" which is quite probably part of the issue.

Yeah you really got to go by feel and comfort to! That SB130 a few posts back is a sweet ride. Dentist money but still a sweet ride , lol.

Well most of the trail systems are closed and I wouldn't want to visit our local hospital (Covid site) if I were to get hurt. Which is likely given my past luck. I'd probably crash on my head and break a collar bone again if I were trying to dial it back and ride safer.

I've had this Gary Fisher a long long time. I love the bike, and we have battled many trails in our day, but he is clearly the elder statesman of the trail these days. I am definitely looking for an affordable upgrade. I'm just a casual rider anymore, so paying astronomical prices for a bike just isnt feasible for me. At that point, the GF will be my cruise around bike. I like it too much to let it go.

last month, boulder city council discussed closing all trailheads in boulder county and denver now has a mandatory mask requirement. i can barely ski with a mask covering my face so, i'm still zwifting in the basement. i did order one of these to try but i don't have high hopes.

Considering I have a higher chance of being killed in a car accident on the drive to the trailhead than I do of crashing on my bike and dying from covid contracted in a hospital, I have no issues going for a ride.

I'm so outta shape now, I can barely breathe on the uphills. I'd die if I had to wear one of those during a workout. ;)

Finally got around to making a quick diy fork mounted rack for my Tundra out of a 2x4 and some bolts. Went for a ride and took my ultralight rod and made some pitstops along the trail for some fishing.

Baller! I used a 2x8 in the back of my trucks for awhile. Finally switched to the rail mounted RockyMounts last year.

I want to eventually do a rail mounted setup, my truck didn't come with the rails so i need to install one first. Those bikes make me jealous! Really nice setup.

The RockyMounts always looked really nice. I just really don't like taking the front wheel off and on all the time so when it's just me I go moto style strap down.

Curious if any of you know what’s happing to me. Well, I’m having some issues with my 2016 boxxer World Cup solo air spring forks... I just had a local bike repair guy rebuild my forks as they were due. Also had him add a volume reducer (token) while apart. Now the forks are all friggy. With max fork pressure I’m at 40% sag without anyone on the bike. I have tried opening the top cap’s up, sliding a small zip-ties into the lower fork seals to equalize any trapped pressure’s and redone factory manual setup three times today. I even tried leaving the bike upside down for an hour to soak seals. Any ideas?? Tia.

Try letting all the air out, then re-airing. If something simple doesn’t work I’d take it back and have them fix it, unless you don’t trust the shop anymore. Hopefully they’ll expedite your reservice if it was their fault or worse now than when you brought it in.
