I was told by a Toyota employee that there will be 3 engine options, 5.7L, 4.0 twin Nagasaki noisemakers, and a hybrid. Don’t shoot the messenger, just passing the info along but I do trust him and he’s passed info along to me before that proved correct :crapstorm:

I find it funny that they call the 14 a redesign after 7 years. Um, nope. not really. Refresh maybe, but not much different than the previous version that was 7 years old.

Clicked on a related article after reading the OP. This is a great quote, and the reason I own a Tundra.

“While it might seem to outsiders that Toyota is slow to advance its truck offerings in the U.S., Sweers points out that he has to make a truck that's reliable everywhere in the world. A truck engineered for the U.S. customer might not need to survive the Australian Outback, but the trucks he engineers for the U.S. could survive there, too. "You can go anywhere in any brand, but you need a Toyota to get back," he boasts.”

I mean I read it kind of fast, but I didn’t see anything about an “android auto 42in plasma screen” anywhere...

I mean, I don’t “wheel” my truck like the BASTRDS or SGU’s but if the Australian outback was a snowstorm, that’s where my Tundra earns its paycheck 6 months a year.

Just a lame joke, inspired by a good one.

Why do Native American’s hate snow?
Because it’s white and on their land.

Thank god I purchased one when I did is all I can say.

Is it just me, or has Toyota been making everything worse with each generation?

It's not just you. The Toyotas that people seem to love the most are the older models (Tundra, 4Runner, Sequoia) as everything else has that awful 3.5 V6 and transmissions that act drunk. When I had my 16 Taco, I was literally fighting the transmission every time I drove the truck. I've heard similar things about the new Camry. Apologists will blame it on fuel standards, but I was never interested in excuses while driving the Taco. Instead I was growing to hate the truck. Fingers crossed they don't screw up the new Tundra. I intend on keeping my current truck as long as I can, but nothing lasts forever.

People tend to look fondly on the past. Look at all the hype around FJCs now. Where were all those people when they were available all over the place new?

So I was down in San Felipe for a race this weekend and two guys on the team work for TRD. One builds the engines for the NAPCARs. So I had to ask him what he's heard about the new Tundra.

He dropped a bomb on me.

A diesel-electric hybrid and that it will be able to out tow anything because of the electric motor. They're only waiting on the EPAs emissions approval.

This would most definitely fit into the "big changes coming" narrative. And would be a truck engineered for around the world use.

    Flux capacitor!
I was told something very similar about the hybrid engine option. I was told it’s towing capabilities are very impressive! I’m excited about the next gen Tundra!
