We basically have this same set and they've been flawless for the 1.5 years we've owned them. They clean well and are much quieter than the older front loaders that came with our house.

Bought this used in 2003 or so for $400. It was about 4 years old at the time. I have replaced only a $10 plastic door switch. I like getting my money's worth. I definitely would not buy anything new other than Speed Queen.

My mom has that same Whirlpool. I think one step above that one. Extra large option.
It’s got to be over 20 years old. I have replaced the drain pump, the water-fill solenoid and the buffer ring. It’s still going! They don’t make them like that anymore. But speed queen does. That’s why am getting that next time.

Actually it’s called the snubber ring.
    https://youtu.be/PfU9Wc53M0k

The reason I had to replace it is the washing machine would go out of balance very easily. Went ahead and change the springs at the same time for good measure. It basically acts like a piece of cartilage where the drum rests on the bottom of the washing machine enclosure.

All right, I took the plunge.....

Everyone is getting banned if these don’t last 20 years. So in 2039, watch out...lol. (Joking of course)

I wonder if Toyota will update the Tundra by then?

We just purchased the dryer for now. We are struggling with the fact a queen size comforter cannot fit in the SQ washers.

Got to go with the older model not the latest and greatest. The originals are very stout

We have some Maytag Commercial Series that have done us well. One thing I hate about ALL new washers is that they are all high efficiency. They use very little water and can get mildewy if you're let cleaning slide or if you use too much detergent. Recently mine started to smell just a little musty so I took the whole $^%er apart and cleaned it with vinegar and bleach. Now we run a cleaning cycle with the Affresh additive twice as often as is recommended, and I've made my entire family go through training on how to add the right amount of soap..

I have a pretty sensitive sense of smell, it may not have been as bad as I felt it was.

Yeah The TR5000WN. That’s the one I have on my list. I should be getting it in a couple months. Tax return. I’m wary of the pushbutton. The TR5 or the TR3 get my vote. Interesting about a queen size comforter not fitting. I always buy the extra large washing machines just for that purpose. Funny they are a lot like Toyota’s, in that they don’t have a huge amount of features and minimal options. But all the research I have done says they last a long time. I have found a lot of negative’s but I think I’m still going SQ for the longevity. Although I am a little disappointed about what you say about the capacity.

I do like the simplicity of the of the maytag. It looks like it might be hard on clothes though.

I don't recall the exact specifications, I've not seen your comforter, and our SQ was purchased in 2015. That being said, I put our queen size comforter in our SQ on a regular basis. No issues.

We wash our queen sized, down comforter every 2-3 weeks. Fits without issue and it agitates as if nothing is in there.

Sidebar...regarding the "new" Speed Queens. I bought mine at the end of 2017. In speaking with my appliance store, we purchased when we did because they told us Speed Queen was being forced to comply with Obama era conservation regulations. When I spoke to Speed Queen directly, they confirmed that the "grace" period was expiring and they would be adding a setting that would comply. The rep said if that dial setting is not selected, then the washer would perform the same as the old Speed Queens that were not resource conserving.

I'm skeptical of the video with the yellow towel. I did the "open lid" mod on mine and can attest that clothes from the top get agitated to the bottom very quickly

Thank you for the information! I noticed those two washers in the video are different sizes yet they use the same amount of clothes. This can attribute to why it wasn’t moving the clothes around properly. Something is up for sure. I don’t see how a company can be around that long with people talking about how clean their clothes get, and have it not actually wash/agitate the clothes. Freaking fire departments use these things.

Wired up the SQ Dryer (4 wire). I was reading through the installation instructions (I know, stop the press, a guy that read the directions), and SQ recommends hard piping the exhaust over using flex piping to avoid fires.
When testing the dryer out, damn that has a blower motor on it.

Pretty amazing how big the front loaders with stands are. Once we get the SQ washer, I’m remodeling my laundry room a bit.

Our 12-year old Kenmore front loaded washer just crapped out yesterday, and just bought the SQ TR5000WN washer and matching electric dryer. Were highly recommended by our local appliance store we have dealt with for years, and our long time repairman. The little bit less capacity doesn't bother us and the smaller footprints are nice too. Can't beat the 5-year parts and in house labor warranty.

Follow installation to a tee. No thin flex hoses. They recommend hard piping.

I also had to snake out the lint my old 4" exhaust pipe to get the performance that SQ says it will have. Super fast drying.

    I did a thing today….

My front load Whirlpool had a pump go out. So instead of spending 270.00 and waiting a month we decided to retire it after 10 years of hard service.

Called around for a Speed Queen and put it on order. Two days later we had it. Already tested the hell out of it.

I did the same thing recently. Expensive Maytag front loader and dryer didn’t last 2 years. Dryer rebuilt twice under warranty, control panel on washer died after warranty. Maytag covered the control panel out of warranty, had to pay labor, but required wait-time on parts. Did the laundromat thing a few times and realized no time for this, need Speed Queen. Knee-jerked and ordered the TR5, but found a TC5 next day and was able to switch. Can’t believe how clean and fresh the laundry is. Going to sell the Maytag set to buy the SQ dryer, the mismatch is killing me. Lol. 275DD7A4-E547-4DFD-9498-8A932372F27E.jpg
