Hes a moron. Off roading is not barreling through shit. He has 0 skills. No wonder the truck gets ruined. That's the guy that runs his truck into wheel high water then wonders why his rear differential is shut after he drives home.

I think you are right. He is a retard. Saying "the gap closed".... If that's the case he should have damage on the back of his driver door too because that "gap closed" at the same point. It's wash out from the bright sun.

I had a 1997 f-150 double cab that had this type of damage. The truck had 300k miles on it when I sold it. Never was an issue. Touch up paint and keep driving.

I see that a lot. Usually guys that come across mud for work or whatever and they just keep them back there for when they need them. Their too muddy to keep on the cab so they leave them upside down like that so they won’t get wet from rain.

Also the mud rinses down to the ground not all in the bed when you put them like that.

Maybe his boots got pinched in there?

We don’t know what it can’t do because we don’t know how it happened. I don’t buy that exposé video at all.

I completely agree with test to failure. However that has to be done intentionally so you know why the damage is occurring. This dipshit didn’t even realize it happened. And, I’m not going to support some idiots YouTube channel so he can make money while he trashes a new pickup.

The damage came from the recovery. There's a pic with no damage right before mud recovery.

But is there a pic with damage right after the recovery? He showed a pic of it at Toyota but I couldn't see the dent there. He didn't mention what happened between his recovery and that Toyota visit either.

While we are at it we should start a thread about how the bumpers fall off on 2022s, it happened to this guy. The grilles fall apart too, happened to this guy. 2022s get stuck in mud really easily too, happened to this guy.

This guy isn't making any money off youtube. His views are way too low. He's just doing his best to kill a Toyota and being a weird creepy fucker.

lol...I think he split the front of his bed apart, one of the videos you can see that the bed sides are not how they should be (plastic not metal skins)

It looked kinda like there was a lot of upwards torque going on when it was being pulled back and it looks like most of it was on one side. There was probably just enough to cause a twist in the bed and seperating it.

I am not touching the "message" of this commercial. Not on this forum.
    I will say
Someone said on this forum recently, that the new Tundra is no longer targeting construction types, and going after the general SUV group.
IMO - We will know when this transition is "complete" as a group, when pickup trucks are no longer exempt from the gas guzzler tax, as they are right now, because they are categorized as "work" vehicles to qualify for the exemption.

You're not touching the message that the Tundra is the new hot thing and you need one if you're going to keep up with the Joneses?

I thought only heavy duty pickups were exempt.

Oh I know the message. But did they achieve the new Joneses status ---all reviews point to nothing ground breaking --- (except for beds, bumpers, grills, etc...) in this thread...8^0
    JK but maybe not......

Need to look into the gas guzzler tax for Ontario maybe a local thing.

Now im curious if people in Canada get better fuel economy than people in the US because speed limits are lower.

No its because gas prices are higher so we drive slower to conserve. *^0
Except every younger millennial i know (not me 8^0 ) does 70 mph + especially on the 404 above Newmarket - Ontario's autobahn

    @gmcguire7220
thank u for that. All I remember is the salesman telling me I did not have to pay on my 2018 when I bought it.

Interesting. In the U.S. gas guzzler taxes are built into the per gallon taxes. Buy more gas, pay higher prices. To add a gas guzzler tax is double taxing. We do however pay higher registration fees for vehicles considered over 10k weight. In Louisiana, We have to pay an outrageous registration fees. ;)

This thread's subject line is like a newspaper story where the headline is just wrong. It should read: Reckless 4 wheeling can bend your frame and otherwise severely damage your truck.

While it is pretty clear that the guy isn't an expert off roader, at the end of the day in this particular instance, he got stuck in a mud hole and was pulled out...I mean...it kinda happens and most people don't expect to cause damage to their truck by pulling the truck backwards. It's pretty clear to me what happened to cause the damage, and not really surprising. I think the toyota engineers commenting on his instagram post are also aware what caused this, and
they are trying to cover their bases..but they are aware with this being a potential issue with their choice of bed material. I would guess they didn't expect to address it quite this soon though...lol

I will say that I think he picked the wrong truck if he wanted to explore the areas he has been going. He probably would be better off with a Tacoma or a Wrangler. The stock Tundra is not the best tool for the job he is using it for.

In his video in the ozarks he had a whole lot of plastic crap fall off the truck, and while he pushed it a little hard, it wasn't that bad of an area.

Not "pretty clear to me" what happened. I for one HIGHLY doubt the damage was caused by simply pulling the truck from behind. The owner has clearly done some stupid stuff and we won't see a video of the actual cause, YMMV

Fair enough, we don't know what he did between getting pulled out of the mud until he took it to the shop, but the damage was not there prior to the tow. And it is pretty clear that his bed is not aligned properly after the tow...(coming apart or twisted). It really isn't surprising, you can only twist plastic so far, same as metal. They both have pluses and minuses, one tell you it has had to much and dents, the other just cracks or splits...
