BBS TRD PRO Wheels, Which Years?

What was the reason Toyota went to a 17" wheel on the 2020 TRD PRO's?

 

They didn’t. 2020 pros are 18s

 

The only 17” on a second and third gen were from the TRD Rock Warrior.

 

Woops, I don't know what I was thinking (or drinking) when I posted that thread.....I'll try to be better.

 

I'll add mine for reference. I bought as take off's from a 2020 TRD Pro the OEM finish was "satin-smooth" seemed just a touch below gloss. I have a couple textured powder coat parts on my truck so I had the wheels powder coated satin textured to match. The powder coat is very subtle, change although they look more like the "TRD" wheels version.

I agree, never been into aftermarket wheels for my taste, the TRD Pro wheels look modern and powerful

What product did you use to paint your brake calipers?

 

Caliper covers by www.calipercovers.com good quality but pricey.

When you said pricey you meant PRICEY!

 

Yes they did, but these wheels have a lot of dark nooks and crannies that collect and hide brake dust.

What the best / simple method for keeping them clean?

 

PITA to paint by hand, but a lot less costly...

 

Patience is probably the answer.

I have also noticed that the center caps rotate with use, I'm thinking of dabbing a touch of RTV on their backside to see if that prevents that.

 

Need to add a little blower or compressed air near the calipers to keep the dust off the wheels....probably easier to invent "dustless" brake pads.
Sure would be nice if the dust could at least be washed off with a hose instead of soap / water washing!

 

Did you ceramic coat your paint job? If not, what wax do you use? Your truck looks better than new.

 

2021 TRD Pro built in November 2020

 

Ordered the 34200 TRD wheels, TRD Pro centers and black lug nuts from McGeorge Toyota - $2100 delivered. I will post pictures when they arrive.

 

Found a set near me for a good price! Planning to pickup tomorrow

 

Here are mine for reference and data collection. I have no idea what year they came off of. I like the fact that they're OEM and still look badass, and not made in china.

 

I'm beginning to think that they're all going to show the same P/N on the reverse. They're all of the same "pattern" until later when they're painted and machined with the text. Those characters are the ones we see after PT960-34190 on the parts websites. Total blinding flash of the obvious...right?

 

Thanks Badknees. Just Griot's 3in1 ceramic spray. The bumpers/grill/headlights and front 1/3rd of hood have XPel film. I have the enthusiasm to keep it nice.

 

Right -02 or -F2 are the differences yet not printed on the wheels.

 

Scooped em up! Cosmetic blemishes but not too bad and a really good deal. Off a 2020 Pro. I’d call it satin.

Will do! Scheduled install Tuesday morning. And if we’re tracking prices I paid $1300 with used 1.25” spidertrax spacers, center caps, and black lug nuts. They have minor scratches... but so does my truck. Only noticeable up close. Apparently a wheel brush did the scratches. They still look good to me.
