I had the PC installed in my 2019 truck and loved it. My wife and I were driving somewhere and all of a sudden every dash light in my truck came on. It went into limp mode so I turned into a parking lot and turned it off. Cranked it back up and drove it home it sounded and ran fine but all lights were still on. I disconnected the battery uninstalled the PC, reassembled everything and it's been 3 months since I had that issue. It is currently in a drawer somewhere now I just use tow mode for the time being. I'm not going to drop another $300 bones on another potential issue.

Yeah but you bought PC which is known to do exactly what you described. The Banks is designed differently and with the way its wired to the vehicle I have yet to hear anyone having issues. You are about the 10th forum member in a couple months to have an issue with their PC. Could be due to more folks have PC than Banks and therefore we have potential to see more. But I think its more a quality issue.
I also don't blame you for wanting to try another throttle controller after the experience you had. I'm not trying to put you down, but help other future buyers to understand that the Banks isn't liking to cause the issue you had.

I’ve the Banks pedal monster for a few months with the dash monitor controller thing. So far it’s been great. I like how you can adjust it while driving. I am curious if they’ve figured out how to display transmission temp yet. This thing was super easy to install.

Good for the fun factor, but maybe not so good for motor mounts, u joints, clutch packs, etc. For those that have pedal commander, they are straight up dangerous due to the power being drawn from the pedal position sensor. It can blow the fuse and leave you with no throttle at a very bad time.

I have the non-bluetooth version and have had no issues at all and it's the second truck that I have used it on.

The point is with either one, you are adding stress to already relatively weak motor mounts, and other associated drive components. Then with the PC there have been several documented cases of power failure while people were in high speed high volume traffic which nearly caused some serious accidents because all acceleration was suddenly lost. Maybe you don't keep a truck long enough to see powertrain damages or can't determine the exact cause because there are so many factors or possibilities. Not trying to start a pissing contest, just shared what I have learned.

Watch the Banks video and you get clear description and demonstration of why the PC is prone to failure. My PC failed, got it “reprogrammed” by PC, then failed again in a near fatal accident. Asked for my money back past warranty period. No, but offered me a free replacement. Not on my literal life. Cut it up into pieces. Bought a Banks and had it 6 months or so. Like it.

Had PC installed on my 2015 for about 5 years now. No issues at all until last month mine left me in limp mode trying to get onto the highway. I was like wtf is going on! I’m pressing the pedal and nothing is happening! Shit! I got home limping it, then removed it and the engine light went away after unplugging my battery and all was well. I want to try the pedal monster since I miss the way the truck drove with the PC, but not sure if I actually need the idash. The only advantage I see is to be able to adjust it easier while driving. Can you adjust it on the fly while driving with the phone app?

You don’t need the Idash. It makes for easier adjusting like you said. You have to come to a complete stop to adjust the levels. My main reason for getting the Idash was the adjustability and was hoping it would read transmission temps. Hopefully in the near future it will.

Ya that’s why I thought about the idash, but saw that it didn’t have that feature. I guess I could always buy the idash part later if they ever get that figured out. I think I’ll just buy the phone app version. I need to get one to replace the PC in my 2013 gx460. I do not want to deal with that shit failing on me again. No thanks.

We (Banks) are working on adding Trans Temp to the iDash. We know many Tundra owners use their trucks to tow so this is a key parameter to keep an eye on. We hope to have some news for you soon.

Happy to let you know when that PID is available on the iDash. I should clarify, however, PedalMonster and iDash are two distinctly separate devices that can be used together or separately. So, you could convert from Pedal Commander to PedalMonster without waiting for the iDash. Moving to PedalMonster would give you the following things... It'll give you peace of mind knowing that the module is powered by a safe 12v from OBD and not 5v from the ECM's pedal circuit. This is why Pedal Commander causes check engine lights. The pedal circuit isn't designed to power modules other than the pedal itself. There's only 25-3- milliamps of overhead in the pedal circuit. The other helpful feature is Reverse Safety. Currently, when you back up using your Pedal Commander, you still have increased sensitivity, which could be tough to deal with when backing up a trailer. The Banks PedalMonster knows what gear you're in and instantly returns your pedal to stock sensitivity when in reverse. This feature is patented. Sorry for the long-winded response.

My PedalMonster doesn’t seem to recognize when the truck is in reverse. I’ve selected Toyota1 and Toyota2, still nothing. Am I missing something else?

For those that tow with the pedal monster, how does it work with tow/haul mode? Just leave it in the whatever setting you have while engaging tow/haul or do you need to revert back to stock, then hit tow/haul? Does it make a difference? Ordered one and it should be arriving soon. Excited to try it out.

Update. It arrived in the mail today. Hooked it up. Everything works as advertised and gonna mess around with it to dial in the settings to my liking. I got a low fuel alert though that won’t clear despite having over half a tank of gas. Gonna top off tomorrow morning to see if that clears it but that’s the only thing that appears off. Anyone else have this issue?

Would anyone with the Pedal Monster be willing to pull the plug out of the OBD outlet while driving?
I'm curious to see what this does before I consider purchasing this.
Obviously do it in a safe manner. Don't want you to get hurt.

I’m interested in trying one but can’t find an answer on this…. Can I turn it off easily and use tow haul for towing as I tow 3-4 times a month or is there a tune that is like tow haul, that keeps trans out of 6th gear ect. Thanks

PedalMonster does not interfere with Tow-Haul Mode so there would be no reason to deactivate it. All functionality of the truck will behave normally. In other words, with PedalMonster installed, Tow-Haul will still prevent the trans from upshifting into 6th. Now, a feature that you will appreciate is PedalMonster's Speed-Based Trim. By activating Speed Based Trim, you can prevent PedalMonster from adding throttle sensitivity below 10MPH. This is ideal for towing. As you exceed 10mph, PedalMonster smoothly rolls in its added sensitivity until it reaches your previously set sensitivity level. You'll find this feature in the app's Settings menu.

The apps has a stock setting that allows you to turn it off.

100% correct. However, I can't find a reason why he would need to set it to stock.

The stock setting in the app is very helpful though. I turned mine off when I went to the shop to have my windshield tinted last week. I also turn it off in torrential downpours......the roads here in FL are very oily at times when it rains.

Gotcha. Those are definitely good examples of conditions that could warrant Stock. Although I would love to suggest that your oil road scenario is a great opportunity to try Low Speed Trim. If you set it to High, PedalMonster would basically be at Stock until you exceed 10mph. So, you get your wet weather traction from a stop light and retain high-speed sensitivity. Of course, it all comes down to personal preference.
