Probably my next mod. I was looking at the pedal commander but banks is definitely a great brand so I would trust this based solely on their name. Gonna research these other brands as well before I buy.

Mike, couple of important things to consider about the Banks PedalMonster over similar units. The PedalMonster is the only throttle booster connected via OBD. This matters for several reasons. First, it draws 12v from OBD, not 5v from the pedal circuit like everyone else. The 5v pedal circuit has only 25 milliamps of overhead. It's not designed to power any module other than the pedal itself. That's why PedalCommander and others cause check engine lights. When the device draws more current than available, the ECM shuts off the pedal completely leaving you stranded in the middle of the road. The other benefit to being connected via OBD is the PedalMonster knows what gear you're in. This allows it to set your pedal sensitivity back to stock when in reverse. This is a patented feature. And to top it all off, PedalMonster is the ONLY throttle booster with any failsafe circuitry. If anything should malfunction, PedalMonster's normally-closed relays default to stock. This is yet another patented feature. We addressed all of the competitors' shortcomings when developing the PedalMonster.

Right on, thanks! It's looking like the monster over the commander for me. Sounds like it has significantly more engineering than the commander.

Does the pedal monster work with an aftermarket auto start plugged into the OBD currently, or will I have problems with that? I also have a flex fuel 5.7

It'll work great with Flex Fuel. But depending on how active the Auto Start is with its CAN communication, they could fight for ECM traffic. If this is the case, you'll know right away and we've accounted for it with a special feature. Using the mobile app, go into the menu and select NO-OBD mode in the vehicle selection. This will disable the OBD communication. So, you'll get all the great safety features, minus Reverse Safety.

Would there be benefits to running the banks on top of my bullydog tune ?

Looking at Bullydog (SCT), they do offer pedal sensitivity adjustment in their BDX tuner. I'm not sure just how much they tweak it in their Tundra tune. Regardless, yes, you can still use the PedalMonster with the Bullydog tune. The real question is, are you happy with the pedal feel. If you feel that it's still mushy, the PedalMonster will cure that. Since launching the PedalMonster for the Tundra, at least a dozen have installed it in addition to a tuner. We put one in Erica's truck, a member of SoCal Tundras on Facebook. Her truck was custom-tuned and she absolutely loves the PedalMonster with the tune.

Great, I have the GT tuner and while it does have the throttle tune the pedal does still feel soft and to adjust the tune requires a full update which isn't convenient.

So you said the pedal monster is less sensitive below 10 mph, if someone floors it do they still get full throttle response?

Well, according to your description, PedalMonster will make a night-and-day difference. If it doesn't, simply return it. But I'm pretty confident that you'll enjoy it. I've personally installed half a dozen in Tundras and I get the same reaction every time. https://youtu.be/kOZ7mFkpq6w

PedalMonster has an adjustable setting called "Speed-based trim". You can set this to your liking. By default, it's set to 0, where you get full added pedal sensitivity from 0 mph to max mph. However, if you prefer to ramp in the sensitivity above 10mph, you can change the "Speed-based trim" setting to level 5. For example, if you were pulling a trailer, you might want to select level 3, 4, or 5 in Speed-based trim so you don't jerk your trailer around leaving a green light.

Is there an option for the 12v other than OBD II? I already have a Scan Gauge 2 on my OBD II port.

Using an OBD splitter (like this: https://www.bankspower.com/i-2904) will allow you to use the PedalMonster with your Scan Gauge. To prevent the devices from fighting for OBD traffic, you'd go into the PedalMonster vehicle selection menu (on mobile phone app) and select NO OBD mode. This function deactivates its OBD communication so the Scan Gauge can still communicate with the truck's ECM. Having said that, the best solution is to use the Banks iDash instead of the ScanGauge. The iDash will do everything the Scan Gauge does and ALSO controls and monitors the PedalMonster. About half of all PedalMonster owners use the iDash because it's such a powerful tool, and allows them to monitor and adjust the PedalMonster on the fly. In short, PedalMonster and iDash work as an integrated system. Here's a quick iDash overview. https://vimeo.com/554920078

I called you guys about running the splitter/PedalMonster with my Edge CTS3 monitor (no tuning) and was told this is not possible for my diesel (2016 GMC 3500HD). Where they mistaken?

@ToyFan does the PedalMonster work on first gen Tundra by chance?

Edit- I see that it does

other than the splitter, can this be powered without using the OBDII? I don't want to throw away my scan gauge to buy an Idash.

I completely understand not wanting to toss the Scan Gauge. The PedalMonster's +12v power wire is located inside the OBD cable. Now, there's nothing to stop you from slicing open the cable and running the power wire to a fused location elsewhere. But, it's not something that we'd recommend. The reason we pull power via OBD is that we don't want to tap into the 5v pedal circuit like all the other throttle boosters. Your pedal circuit doesn't have enough current to power modules other than the pedal itself. That's why Pedal Commander and others cause check engine lights. So, we determined that the safest place to draw power is the OBD port since it's directly connected to the battery via a fused connection.

Does the Idash read transmission temps on the Tundras? I’ve scrolled through a few times and didn’t see a gauge selection for transmission. Do I have to add something else for the Idash to see it?

According to our (Banks) engineers, the iDash currently does not display trans temp in the Tundra. However, if you're up for it, you can help us with adding that parameter. Please email me with your contact info. jtilles at bankspower dot com

I see multiple people asking if there is an impact on aftermarket auto start. Any impact on factory auto start with smart key access? This would be for a 2021 Platinum Tundra.

Unless the aftermarket Auto Start is connected via OBD, which they typically aren't, the PedalMonster will not conflict. In other words, it will have no impact. Same goes for the factory auto start with smart key.

It all depends on the dealer. While some are aftermarket-friendly, others aren't. When in doubt, simply remove it. Removal should take no longer than 5 minutes.

Just installed the pedal monster in my 2019 tundra and when selecting the motor it only lists Toyota 1 and Toyota 2. Neither is allowing the reverse sensing to work? Does that feature not work with the tundras?

Well, that's odd. Toyota 1 should be the right one. Is the light green on either setting? Please email me with your contact info. Being in direct contact will speed up the process. jtilles@bankspower.com.
