Yeah that's why the paint is raised up right around where the emblem is cuz there's more paint material around where the emblem used to be I don't know if you bought it used but if you bought it new body shop probably had to paint the door because something happened to it and shipping or on the lot

That’s what I’m thinking. I’ve been led to believe that there is typically no clearcoat on super white. Just a single stage paint. Do you think it’s possible it was ceramic coated and that’s why it’s built up around the emblems?

No I don't think so I think it's been repainted I don't think a ceramic coat would be that thick

    @RowdyRon @SouthBoundSteve @nowayout @Darth Tundra @TUNDRA375 @15whtrd

I bought the truck used with 8000 miles on it, 4 months ago. Only has 11000 on it now. Bought it private party, but CarFax is clean and the guy I bought from seemed very honest, but who knows. The truck was spotless. Like mentioned above, I wonder if the dealer repainted it after discovering shipping damage. At this point I'm sure no one is going to admit to it.

Although I would love to be able to fix it and save the expense of a professional fix, there is a definite amount of material missing that I just don't feel could be blended or made up for. I did my best with the pics but they still don't portray how deep that crater is . I'm probably going to have to take to a body shop and get a quote. Any ideas what I'm looking at cost wise for a professional fix?

Thank you guys for your input! The whole thing makes me sick. Even if I put the badge back on, I would know its there and it would bother me down to my soul :(, especially on a 'like new' truck.

Yup I removed the other side iforce, and both SR5 emblems, and they were all perfect. Rolled off adhesive to find perfect surfaces underneath. This is the only one with the issue. I was going to keep the TUNDRA emblems in place as they don’t look bad in my opinion. I’d imagine if I removed the TUNDRA emblem on the same side as this issue it would probably be the same problem.

Do you think it is something I should bring up to the dealer? I figured they’d claim ignorance and blame the original owner.

I would replace with "Black" I Force emblems... for a body shop to fix that they're going to have to paint that door and blend the color into the fender. Which is probably what was done at the dealership before they sold it new. If you look at the end of the front door near the door handle can you see a slight color difference between the front door and the rear door?

You are correct-a-mundo Steve-O. If the owner paid cash and wasn't an insurance claim there will be no Carfax history

Well I definitely believe you are correct, it’s been repainted. There’s a very slight color and texture difference. Also found paint overspill where the door handle meets the painted surface that I hadn’t noticed before . Might get some black iForce emblems headed my way, not sure it’s worth the hassle of repainting an entire door :(

NOT.....COOL !!!!....They should have taken off the door handle and you might want to look around the rubber around your window opening and the outside of your mirror anything that touches the paint on that door. They should have removed everything before they painted it. That's b******* whatever shop did that !!!!!!!!!!

Mofo lied to you. That sucks.
Well every bit of me would want it fixed properly. But if you’re not willing to spend the $$ I would just get some black badges and cover it up.

Right!!?? On a brand new truck they treat it like it’s a quick cover-up on an old POS.
If I wasn’t going to have my truck fixed right I would just leave the dent instead of painting some half assed job on one of the doors. Ridiculous.

I'm guessing the previous owner is probably very anal so when it got wrecked he knew he was going to sell it and had it fixed cheap without an insurance claim so it wouldn't show on a Carfax. What a f****** douchebag

And since that's a white single stage from the factory the fact that it's been painted and blended with clear coat when the rest of the truck naturally fades that door and Fender are going to look even worse

Hey guys, local body shop in Northwest AR quoted me $100 to remove badges. After reading this I may try a diy with all the pretty Fall weather that's still. Has anyone tried removing the black T-U-N-D-R-A stickers inside the metal embossed TUNDRA on the tailgate?

    Yup

They come off easily with a little heat.

Takes about 30 minutes, including gathering all the supplies, clean up and quick wash/polish of area removed

    Welcome from NY.
As Bruce stated above, just use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm them up and they will peel off. Maybe use a plastic pry tool while heating to lift them up out of the stamping.

Thanks guys. Also wanted to pass on that I've been using Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer lately It's so easy to use after washing during toweling off and produces dazzling, lasting results on multi-stage paint jobs if you haven't tried it.
