ya thats true, i was hoping to lave a little space behind the seat for my rifle, by using a single 12 it should leave me some space but doubles eleminates that. I think with the price of the subs i might as well get doubles. wont beat my friends giant 15 but alteast when hes jamming i can give him a run for his money

You'll be better off with 2. Now you can find a 2 ohm amp a little easier.

I went back to @Vector W8 to look at his build and looked at his amp. when i said im clueless, i meant im clueless. It hadnt even crossed my mind that i could use a 5 channel in order to power doors and sub, i was alway told use one for sub one for doors. Im going a single pioneer 30002s4, with a Pioneer GM-D9605 amp, maybe a fix86 (depending how much i get from my old F-150). I think im going to be forced to run a second battery behind the seats also so i may be out of luck for that rifle mount but it should be enough space with that single 12 for a battery.

Why would you need a second battery for that set up? Also does your back seat fold down? I didn't think any of the 2018's did that. If you have a crewmax you should look into getting an under seat storage locker like a LockrDown or ESP, then you would actually gain ease of access/more storage space with the ability to lock your firearms up more securely.

There is a bracket that if cut 7/8th in shorter allows the seats too fold down (atleast on my dads its did). duel battery is for winch and sound system both.

The 3rd gen crew max tundras do not have a fold down rear seat, the 2nd gen (2007-2013) tundras did. If your dad has a 3rd gen crew max, please share what you did, I know there are several people on here that have wanted to make the back bench fold down.

Double cabs are different, I do not have experience with DCs, so hopefully someone else will chime in.

Ya i got the chance to drive a crewmax for a week while waiting for mine and i couldn't find anywhere to drop the seats since they didnt rise when you lift the bottom. Too bad i didnt get one i could do some experimenting and print brackets out that would allow it.

When i first started to plan my build i was going to use that amp. Bang for the buck its hard to beat.

I would look into sticking a second battery in the engine bay before you put it behind the seat. Search around here, someone made a bracket to hold dual batteries.

where i couldnt find it, i searched for a few hours looking to find an install that didnt require some super sepecialized battery. would 350W sound good on a 100-400RMS speaker? I know 350 is the 75% lower limit.

There is a lockrdown model for the DC...http://www.lockerdown.com/i-52-suva...double-cab-long-gun-safe.html?ref=category:79 that would free up the space behind the rear seat for 2 subs as recommended above. If that Pioneer amp doesnt have a bass remote knob the JL RD900/5 does and should be below $500 for the amp and knob if you order from Tech12volt. Here is a link to check out the amp's specs https://www.crutchfield.com/S-mwwXeS2i81M/p_13698642/JL-Audio-RD900-5.html

that amp is even lower output than the pioneer lol, and the pioneer does have a bass boost control. I do like those boxes though, to much for right now.

My subs are rated to handle (combined) 800w rms and am probably only giving them half that and its enough to shake my side mirrors. You'll be fine.

I have no idea where that battery bracket was. Maybe post a thread asking about dual batteries.

While it does put out 100 more watts to the subs it puts out the same to the 1-4 channels at 2 ohms, it also puts out more noise than the JL amp, but having said that it is a good amp for the money and I see that the remote knob comes with it.

ya im not one to enjoy cheaping out but that 300 dollar differance on a well reviewed amp is what keeps me away from JL. That 300 would be better spent in going towards getting better tires than the junk that they ship out with.

no, do not do this. i would not put a winch on a secondary battery. you also will not need the second battery for your stereo as you won't be pulling that much power.

my RF sub is 600w RMS. i'm using a 1000w 5 channel amp that puts 500w to the sub. it's way more than enough. besides, if your amp is under the RMS rating, you'll never blow the speaker.

the winch wasnt going to be on a sepeartate battery per se, I was going to run them parallel for increased capacity. Im also going to be running a compressor at some point so i wanted the extra umph offroad and camping. this thing will be semi offroad untill all my warranties expire, and once that happens it will be used heavily offroad capable.

I'd imagine you'd want to have a winch battery isolated from everything else....but i'm no expert on winches.

i still wouldn't do it that way. my winch and compressor are on the same (main) battery. there are no issues. secondary battery should be used to jump start if you need it or to power items like a fridge, ham radio, etc. if you feel you need oomph, you might be better off looking at larger alternators.

Im not looking to run just when the engine is on, im also wanting some run time without the engine on, but i guess since the winch doesnt run when the truck is off it should be fine.

Well bad news, james says there is no way to make a box for behind the seat of a double cab (dont know why 1 cubic foot isnt much). Gonna have to find another option for my subs.

No because i have nowhere to store my straps, tools, towing straps or hitch. And a bed tool box is a bad idea around here

Question regarding audio system upgrade. I purchased my tundra in January 2018 and my biggest and now only complaint with it is the damn mid tier factory stereo that it has. I think it is called Entune plus and it absolutely sucks and I already was aware of this before purchasing the truck. My intentions were to replace the factory stereo with a nice aftermarket one until one of the head mechanics at Toyota dealership said he would not recommend doing so until after the warranty expires.

I asked why is this and he said that not only bc he thinks doing this will void the warranty, but also bc of how with the new safety features and etc. are all connected behind the dash it is extremely easy to accidentally mess something up. He specifically referred to the safety features (pre collision sensor, blind spot monitor, and how the back up camera is integrated in it) again when clarifying this.

Has anyone else ever heard something similar? Does anyone know of some sort of hack that allows for me to mirror my iPhone to this radio so that I can use my apps (especially Waze and google maps) instead of the horrible scout gps link? Thanks for the feedback

When speaking with the mechanic at my dealership, i told him exactly what i was doing and he said it would be fine.
