The rag company has pretty good sales, if you are able to wait until they offer one.....I bought a pile of their eagle edgeless MF rags on a BOGO sale recently.

Question- will Meguiars ultimate wax remove light water spots like their NXT was does?

Both Meguiars Ultimate Wax and NXT are synthetic sealants, and as such, neither will remove water spots. According to Meguiars website, NXT will 'visually eliminate swirls and scratches'....which would speak to its filling capability.

How can I remove hard water stains off my windshield and other car glass. Some of those Amazon products work but leave small scratches if you use a hard sponge. What do you guys recommend? Thanks

You can try a clay bar. If you really want to do the job get glass polish pads and a DA with griots glass polish. This works really well. I use a g9 griots pads griots glass polish and griots glass sealer

Depending on how bad those water spots are, you may have to go all the way to Ceriglass(by CarPro). I have some seriously bad etched water spots on my windows, and had to get the CarPro Rayon pads and use them along with Ceriglass....and even that combo took some work to get them off

I saw discussions on the Griots 3-in-1 in this thread, but not this particular question. I've mentioned that my go-to is Power Lock, I've also mentioned how horribly hot it is here in Tucson during the summer.
So, my question (probably a stupid one) is would the 3-in-one be a good, easier thing to use as a refresher between the 3 or 4 times a year that I use the Power Lock?. I know that they are a different type of product, so my thought is no, it wouldn't.

A cheap and easy option is barkeepers friend in liquid form. It works very well on cleaning glass. I use it on my shower doors when they get a lot of hard water build up, and it’s done wonders on windshields. Only thing is you have to make damned sure you don’t get it on anything but the glass. Don’t let it get on your paint.

Not sure how well it will bond to Powerlock, as I haven’t tried it. I know Beadmaker doesn’t work well with Powerlock. It just wipes off. The only thing I’ve tried or even heard about that works well with Powerlock is Collinite 845.
3-in-1 is a stronger sealant than Beadmaker, so it may work, but until someone tries it I’m doubtful.

If you’re using Powerlock 3 or 4 times a year, you’re keeping a really good level of protection on your truck. I don’t know that you’ll get any benefit. I really think adding some wax to increase gloss would be all you’d want or need to do.

This stuff is straight up amazing on hard water spots. Used on the shower door first and was impressed. Used it on my truck glass and it worked just as well. I taped off all the rubber trim before I applied it and was very careful not to get it anywhere but the glass. Hardly any effort to remove the hard water spots.

Bought my son a Honda civic. Low miles and in powertrain great mechanical condition. Unfortunately on the back two fenders it looks like the cleat coat is gone and the paint is starting to "crows foot". I believe that is the term. Anyway my question is what can be done to prevent it from getting worse (besides taking it to the paint shop) or possible improve the situation?

Question about what you all might recommend to buff our minor scratches. They are small cosmetic scratches from branches, kids backpacks, etc. I looked through this thread but didn't see anything specifically called out.

Any suggestions? I'm a novice at this and figured I better treat my truck a little better than an occasional trip to the car wash. :D

Really appreciate this thread and all the recommendations and will also get some of the products on this one https://www.tundras.com/threads/detailing-top-products.70949/

Not sure there’s any way to improve it without a repaint. I’m afraid machine polishing would make it worse. As for keeping it from getting worse, just keep some wax or a good sealant on it. Even that’s probably not going to help a ton. Wax may hide the issue a little.

Best bet is to get a DA polisher, but between the machine and supplies it’ll run you a few hundred bucks. If you go that route, I’d recommend the Griots G9 along with some good pads from Lake Country and or Urofiber. Griots Boss line of polishes are great, but there are plenty of good options.

If you don’t want to spend the money, you can find Meguair’s line of polishes at Walmart or any auto parts. They work well, but it’s a ton of work to do by hand. Meguair’s Scratch X is also pretty good for light scratches and scuffs. Not a bad idea to follow that up with a polish also, but I’ve had success with it by itself in small spots.

Thanks for the info. Might start with a Meguairs product, and go from there. Its a just a few spots, so might have enough energy to do it by hand!

    Appreciate the help.

Thanks for the reply. Yes have had him waxing the 2 spots every week or 2. That helps a little but does not last. Thanks again.

Unfortunately the only fix to clear that has failed like this is to repaint. I just had the wife’s back door repainted because infinity white paint sucks and was applied wrong at the factory. It cost $450 for the whole door which was super cheap considering all the quotes I got for 1k and up. You could possibly sand it and wrap it but for the time and energy I would just spray it. Is it a part that could be swapped out by chance?

If your feeling brave or your son is handy you could wet sand and paint yourself. One of my first cars was a Honda loved that thing.

No I do not see that as an option.

Hmm...it may have to get worse before I'm that brave. The wet sanding portion I could do and get smooth I think. I'm sure it is similar to finishing wood furniture projects. However, the auto painting makes me cringe. I do not have that type of equipment.

You could sand it smooth then get creative with some vynal wrap. Color matched or something to accent, maybe just black.

I had finally ordered some beadmaker and power clean from autogeek before the hurricane hit. Was supposed to be delivered the day it hit. Just got it yesterday. So about a month later. lol. Now to find time to actually get to wash ol blue. It's been about 2-3 weeks since I've washed either vehicle. I miss my therapy.

Yeah I bet. Hopefully life is ok up there with all this weather. Most of us gulf coast members miss our good car wash weather.

Considering what others are getting now from Sally and what most of our friends/family went through from Laura, we're gonna be just fine. I should be receiving ins. money soon to get roofers going and i'll be ok. Spray foam and drywall after.
I'll probably take the kids out to wash the truck and wife's grocery getter van this Friday/Saturday. We have potential for another to possibly form and hit us now. Predicted to hit between New Orleans and Houston in the next week or so as a Category 1....and I'm smack dab in the middle of that in Lake Charles area. Laura was supposed to hit as a 1 or maybe a 2, and look what that did.:(
