After a few members have mentioned @WarEagleSteve having his own detailing thread, (whether he likes it not) He should have one.
For those that are not familiar with @WarEagleSteve, he’s known as the neighborhood Detailing Guru. He graciously takes time out of his day and provides expert guidance time, and time again on washing, detailing, and products he finds that work well. Hell, he’s even sent several of us some great products to try.

    The rules are simple-
If you don’t agree, move on.
If you’re going to be an ass, you’re out.

With that being said, I’ll link him to this thread.

Vehicle washing, by hand. I currently use the automotive washing soap that has wax in it. Yay or nay?

I️ have powder coated bumper caps, a rock nicked a small price and I️ can see surface rust underneath. What can I️ put in as a filler to prevent further rust? Hole is roughly the size of a pepper flake.

    Well, thanks Sean...
If you fine folks can cut me some slack. Mrs. War Eagle and I are gonna be closing on the new house in the next couple of weeks so I’m a tad pre-occupied with the bank, Insurance, blah blah blah....

Since our new home is in another state, we’ll be doing some traveling too.

This thread got of the rails quick....like usual...LOL!

The research I have found does show that our paints are soft. I know a member on here had an issue, after talking with Toyota, about his paint and some huge concerns.
I try and emphasize proper wash techniques and Care. Polishing/compounding all the time is something I would discourage. With that said, I’m reading more and more about manufacturers using thinner clearcoats and color coats but going heavier with the base. Now, each manufacturer is different so...
Here is a good read about hardness vs. softness and products...
