Small sections, out of the sun, and use an IPA wipedown in between sections to check progress. Heat "cooks" polishes and compounds. The resulting film can be hard to remove and can act as a filler on certain defects. Nothing is more annoying than completing and entire job, just to see you missed entire sections of bad hard water spots or swirling because you were rushing. Ask me how I know. :frusty:

The Prius I undercharged unknowingly because I made the mistake of not verifying how bad it was before sending an estimate. Only got $200 for that. REALLY f'ed myself.

The other vehicle (Dodge Journey) was $300, interior only.

Gotta have an * in the pricing just for that reason. That's just gross. I don't know how people even let things get to that point

Yeah. I've made many mistakes starting my business. Shit happens, just have to learn and not repeat them. Now I ask for pictures of the interior of every vehicle requesting interior services. Quoting a mold/mildew job at ~$400 right now for a lady that has mold growing on her ceiling, among other places, but insists the only cause was the door drains being clogged and it's only been that way for a week......we haven't gotten rain in almost two weeks here so no clue HOW that is even possible lol. Don't understand why people have to downplay their issues lol.

You could get a little brush at the auto parts to clean the pads with. It’s generally what I do. Some guys will just hold a towel over the pad and spin it, but I haven’t tried that.

Sorry, I did not take a photo. (give me a minute) So, I was planning to not do anything to the top at all as I am going to repaint it myself once
all the supplies arrive. Then, I thought, what the hell, I am going to sand it anyway. So, I compounded a few times, polished a few times,
and...now wait some guy online regretted waxing a surface like this because...I cant remember...well I waxed it too. It looks much much better. The eyes are no longer drawn to the eyesore on the roof of the cab. In the photo above, you cant really see the roof and it is hard to explain but in person, it just doesnt stand out as much.

I am really blown away at how much better the truck looks. The paint was not taken care of for a long lone time.

Thanks guys. I wish I took a before photo but needless to say it was very dull.

The outside of the truck bed took a lot of passes to get rid of what I would say looked like water spots that just didnt want to come off. Another weird thing is that same area, but just on the passenger side, seemed to soak up the compound and polish. That probably sounds really strange but I definitely used more there per area worked.

Also, I went through about 80% of the meguirs compound bottle, not nearly as much polish or wax. I am looking forward to repainting that roof in the future.

I don’t have any experience with those towels but I have the griots x-large drying towel and love it. I also have a CarPro drying towel and it’s ok.

I have a drawer full of Super Plush Jr towels (https://www.autopia-carcare.com/cobra-deluxe-jr-towels-12.html#.XxWk7ExFxPY) love them. Use them for applying spray wax and Bead Maker. Drying towels you say?.....look no further than the Griots PFM towels for drying. There are lots of good ones, and I've tried a bunch, but the PFM is hands down the very best. They're not cheap....but they are worth it.

This is spot on. Those pfm are the best and hold up great after many washes.

^^ I'll say it for the thousandth time: I was skeptical as hell about these towels (I mean, how good can they really be?) - And then I tried one. I decided to go for it because the guys here hadn't dished out bad advice yet. Not only was my cynical self surprised, but my expectations were exceeded. One XL towel dried the whole truck and could have kept going.

The information you find on these threads from the members that post frequently is top knotch. I have even backed away from detailing forums because of the recommendations from this forum. There are so many products out there so this is a very effective way to get what your looking for while skipping marketing hype and Instagram fame. If you listen and keep an open mind about trying out new stuff the results are exceptional.

It folds up nicely and goes in the drawer with the 16x16 PFMs I have. They definitely do need to hang up to dry, and take a while if saturated. I'm going to order another one from Autopia during this sale. If I'm doing cars on consecutive days, which I did this past weekend, having two is a must.

You'll find these better than the usual rag. They are high GSM (600 I think) and come in handy for all sorts of more delicate tasks around the car.

Ordered a Griot's PFM and some of the pink ones too. Any suggestions on cleaning and protection for rubber weatherstripping on the edges of windows and particularly on the roof between the roof and the a pillar/door? I was thinking just regular car soap and a soft bristle scrub brush to clean and wasn't quite sure what to put on as I've not tested a lot of these newer products. Thanks

Shine supply trim shield and cerakote trim stuff looks very promising both to be used after you clean. Dlux from CarPro is looking legit as well but has a greater expense to it.

Anybody know where to get a shine supply foam gun or have a recco on one? I haven't bought a PW yet. Apparently they are decent cuz they are sold out everywhere.
