I actually just ordered some more Trim Shield yesterday. The bottle I bought a couple of years ago is down to about half full. Got some of the new Wise Guy also.

We get a ton of rain this time a year so I’m excited to see how it holds up. I will be applying on the old fj this weekend. That thing has a lot of black that needs some love.

O that’s for sure. Figured I’d pack punch, bug off and some all purpose. Maybe some pearl and CarPro inside for the kids spills and such.

I always like to clean the ride back up after we get to where we are going.

Hey guys. We get an ass load of heavy rain down here this time of year. I have been using griots glass sealant and it really is not doing the trick that well. Works great for a storm o two but falls off really quickly. Should I just go back to rainx what’s everybody’s go to?

I actually like reload, sheds water well. Hydro2 as well but can leave some night halos for some.

I recently started using the Meguiars clarity kit. Comes with a glass compound with applicator and a sealant with applicator. Sealant works and smells like rain-x. Compound did a good job getting rid of the water spots

Maybe by normal standards the griots is good. We kind of redefine rain down here in the summer. I will try the reload. Got plenty of it.

I use my wipers only during misting or at a slow speed for rain, but for most part, my wipers last me about 2 or 3 years. I still havent replaced mine on my 2017 since I keep my windshield and windows coated every 6 months or so

I just put on aquapel yesterday. No results yet as the weather is forecast sunshine for the next week but it wasn’t hard to apply my only complaint is that a treatment pack only does the windshield only.

I’ll leave feedback based on how well it works and how long it lasts. It should be at least 6 months.

I would like to up my game a bit.

Currently: Twice a year I wax my truck with Meguiar's Cleaner Wax (Paste).
In-between waxings, after washing my truck, I use Mequiar's Quick Wax spray.
I use Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner as my soap.

What would you recommend if I want to pretty much continue with the same regime, but just use better products that might last longer or protect a little better?

I just read a review on this website for Griot's 3-in-1 Ceramic Wax. Can I simply spray this on after washing and be done, and get similar results to what I've been doing up until now?

    Thanks.

My guess if your keeping your paint protected and clean you probably don’t need to be using cleaner wax that much. I would move over to a wash, clay, polish seal with 3-1 ceramic. But let’s see what war has to say about this.

Very solid advice here. Griots Garage 3 in 1 Ceramic Wax would be perfect after this ^^^^^ process. It's easy to use, economical, and locally available.

Same recommendation. Griots 3-in-1 would be a great fit. Apply it, then use it as a drying aid on occasion and you’ll be good to go.

My brother recently bought a black chevy Silverado 1500 duramax. Of the dealer "threw in" the simonize glass coat which i know nothing about. He asked me to get him some stuff for washes and maintenance. He will also bring it to me for some stuff.
    I got him:
    Grit guard
    Carpro reset
A shit load of MF towels
    Griot's PFM drying towel
1 gallon of ONR and a spray bottle
    Griots 3 in 1
Carlro DLux which I will do for him, his plastic parts already look like shit, its a brand new truck. I also got some DLUX for myself.
This should be enough for him to do decent washes for a while. He won't go crazy with anything and will take it to me probably yearly for me to do some stuff.

Nice my mom just bought a Subaru and it has this simonize coat as well. I would love to know more about it. She asked me to look into it because she was interested in possibly doing something more to it to protect it.

In their own advertising, they call GlassCoat a sealant and a ceramic at the same time. There's a video out there about it. Application looks like any other ceramic product. I'm highly doubtful that the dealer does any legitimate paint prep prior to application, however, so all of the lovely dealer installed swirls are nicely preserved for you. I believe the dealership charge to be around 700.00 for it. It has a very good 'stated' warranty, but I'm betting collecting on a claim is not very simple. At least you can polish it away if you decide the swirled out look is not for you.

Thank you that video kinda explains what we dealing with. I think I’m gonna take a good look at the vehicle and if the paint looks good I will wash decon clay and use reload just to make sure it’s all protected

Maybe I should just decon with ironx. I will check it out and see. I’m curious to go over there and take a good look at it. They gave her a 10yr warranty on it but did not include any real instructions on maintenance

I think you can go directly to Simoniz to get maintenance instructions. I'd be interested to know how that gets tracked, if the warranty has any dependencies on the validity of a claim. I don't know of any current ceramic coatings that offer a 10 year warranty.

Simonize world HQ is a mile from me in a small town. I should walk in hahaha.
He didn't get any info on maintenance or claims with his "10 year warranty "

If you can swing it shine supply bug off is awesome. I used it yesterday on bugs that sat on paint for a month on paint that did not have much protection left on it and they took very little scrubbing more like wiping. On the other products it’s really gonna be up to you this forum can give you good options that you can usually get local and options you can get online. also if you order from shine supply get the wise guy tire cleaner trim shield and spiked punch. The products I’ve used so far from them truly exceeded my expectations.

Yeah sounds about right. The info given is very minimal and I don’t know how much faith I have in the dealership helping me get said info. The warranty is probably not transferable so they take the gamble that most don’t keep a vehicle that long. I’ll try and get some more info.

so last Friday PM we stopped at Sams Club to get some gas for the Tundra. I stepped out of the truck and before I knew it I was bouncing on my ass and shoulder across the parking lot. apparently I stepped in a nice puddle of diesel that was on the asphalt. ended up busting my ass good. lucky I didn't end up smacking my head on the the running board. I was covered in diesel and had to strip in the parking lot before I let the wife drive me home. wasn't willing to get diesel fuel on my leather seats.

so according the neurosurgeon I saw today I may have a torn rotator cuff and a few bone spurs. cat scan next week to verify.

what really pisses me off I was supposed to be starting a two stage paint correction on my truck later this week. I am guessing that is off the table for quiet a while.
