    about an inch :D

I think the 5.5 is just easier to get around the contours of most vehicles as well as easier to control on the polisher since it's less surface area...but I could be wrong

the 5 will correct easier with a DA. And can fit into more areas.

But, seriously folks.....5.5 inch pads are easier to keep spinning....especially if you go to a thin pad

So things still gets diluted to around 100:1? Or more? Doesn't quite seem right to me.

Lakecountry sells a 5.5" "ccs pad" with the dimples in it and a "flat cutback da pad", same price. Anyone try either of these and which would be better for a beginner on a G9?

I've always wanted to try Lake Country pads, but they have so many choices it makes my head spin. For my normal cutting/polishing/finishing pads, I went with the Griots BOSS 5.5" pads. So far, they've tackled everything I've asked them to do. I did venture into some hybrid (cut/polish) URO-fiber pads from Buff and Shine. Really like these for paint correction.

Yeah they have too many pads, lol. I did see a review of Turtle wax new black polish on youtube and it came with lakecountry ccs orange pads, they are branded with TW logo.

Thanks for for explaining. Seems like a great deal. Was it super expensive? I won't be buying it, just curious

Need guidance, I purchased and use the Chemical Guys compounds and buffer. I followed the steps and still have a light cloud in the paint and wondered if its ruined or can be buffed out. Thank you in advance for the help.

Include pics if possible. But if all you did is compound, sounds like you still need to follow with your polish.

Like Andy said, pics would help. I’ll also say that I found the Chemical Guys correcting products to be pretty ineffective. I’m assuming you got the Torq buffer. Not the best machine in that price range, but not awful. The Griots G9 is far superior though, and costs about the same.

Did you get the kit that came with their pads and products? I was able to get decent results with a Torq DA, but not with their chemicals or pads. They did pretty much nothing at all.

My sense is you're gonna hear similar responses from here on out. All of the CG polishes/compounds, including VSS and their AIO, V4, are not the best. You could simply be talking about the hazing that can be left after the compounding steps....but without pics, it's hard to tell.

Curious if any of the Jedi Detailers here mask/tape off specific parts of their truck prior to polish, seal, etc. rubber window gaskets, etc. to avoid any splatter hitting areas where it may leave residue that is not easily removed? If so what areas? Thank you...

I mask off trim and rubber prior to polishing, but don’t generally worry about it when applying sealant or wax. I’m just pretty careful to keep wax off of plastic.

I bought the entire kit, including the Torq buffer. I used their step up process and followed the instructions. If their polishes are crap, I will need to order new stuff and try again. I'll try and get a pic, its only visible in the shade.

I do......I mask off all the plastic and rubber. I also mask off the grill surround (plastic chrome) when compounding/polishing. Probably not necessary, but plastic does not handle heat or abrasives as well as metal

Which is a shame....because the product itself seems to get good reviews
