Why did he get banned? I didn't see anything bad. He's not even listed in the Banned Memorial Thread. :notsure:

I have no clue how to fix that. I also just bought a G9 but I'm a novice. I would think that could be fixed without polishing but I'm not sure.

You may not have to. I know carpro makes a polish called essence plus that is made to use on ceramic without damaging it. Just be sure to get essence +, and not essence which is a regular polish. Idk why they don't just make 2 different names for the two products.

Should be a piece of cake.....G9 + decent polish + yellow Griots BOSS pad should handle that. You'll obviously have to redo the ceramic when you're done

I apologize if this has been asked before, but what is the best wheel cleaner for our aluminum wheels? Not sure if they are anodized, coated, or whatever and I don't want to mess them up.

There are several good ones out there.....'best' is subjective.....but you can not go wrong with Sonax Full Effect....has iron remover in it......once clean, coat your wheels and you'll only need soap and water

Would you guys think a ceramic coating is ok without polishing first? I wish I had the garage space to do a full detail, but don't unfortunately.

I don't think it would be worth the time, money, and effort to ceramic coat your truck without a full exterior detail first, especially since your truck is black and a 2011.

I wouldn’t personally, depends what your paint looks like. Any imperfections will be sealed under the coating. It all depends what you can live with. Maybe stick with a sealant or wax, until you have the space to do a polish. I find applying sealants and waxes much more satisfying, but that’s just me

Yea, I just find it hard to stomach the cost when I am able to do it myself. Just don't have the space.

If you could find a public parking garage with power you could do it there. You don't know anyone with a garage you could commandeer for a day? Kind of defeating the purpose of ceramic coating if you're not putting it on corrected paint. Good luck

Yea, agreed. It was just a thought, to see if it's been done and results from it.

Get yourself some ironX or similar, a clay mitt or towel and clay your truck. Then apply a good sealant like carpro hydro2 or reload or optimum opti-seal. Your truck will have months or protection and shine like it hasn't ever before thanks to the clay treatment and iron removal.
I wouldn't do a coating unless you do paintcorrection, not only will it lock in imperfections but it won't bond like it should. There are plenty of other things you can do to get it looking good if you can't polish it though.

Thanks @Pudge . That's what I did back in September after I got the new lift & tires/wheels. Did all that, but with the PS Bead Maker. Some of the co-workers thought I had a new truck.

Beadmaker does look amazing and is so slick. You could try using hydro2 then beadmaker over it and it should last awhile, or a good sealant like jescar powerlock+ as a stand alone that will last longer.

I agree with the other responses. You could definitely do it if you want, but it’s not going to be worth the effort. I honestly don’t think ceramic is worth the effort after having it done myself, especially on black. It’s going to get scratches and swirls again, no matter how careful you are. I’ve given up chasing it, and just use wax to hide the imperfections.

You could do something like Adam's spray ceramic. Goes on quick and easy, and you're not stuck with it for too long (months as opposed to over a year) since it's thin. Bird shit and salt hose right off.

Just got some Meguiars ultimate and some beadmaker. Is the correct process to apply Meguiars, then top with beadmaker?

Can I do it immediately after apply Meguiars ultimate or should I wait a certain amount of time?

Griot's Garage DA question for folks that have used their machines.

Relatively new to detailing and only using this for personal use (for now). Been eyeing the G9 DA from Griot's and am about to pull the trigger after some research.

I'm sure someone here has it/uses it...so just looking for your opinions/thoughts on it from someone more experienced than myself. Was going to pair with Lake Country pads via some of the research I've found on this forum. Thanks in advance...

Wish I could help you with the G9....I have the G8 and the predecessor to the G9...the GG6. You'll have a good experience with the Griots machine.....get the 5" conversion kit and go with the smaller backing plate. I've really come to like the Griots BOSS pads, but have heard many good things about the Lake Country line as well

Why the 5" versus the 6" it comes with?
