Oh, you’re set for a year or two, and won’t need to buy anymore stuff? Ok Jason. Good luck with that. That lie may have fooled your wife, but we know better.

I had my cabinet emptied the other day while organizing. My wife came out while I had all my bottles laid out in the floor. She had this look on her face:

That was an accident. Forgot to remove a PERL from my cart before I ordered.

What if anything would you use on ppf? I’m helping a friend with his black M3 tomorrow and just noticed the entire front is covered. Bad thing is the panels aren’t wrapped. You can see the film lines on the fenders and hood. Plan so far is to use the foam cannon and wash then see what the film looks like. It’s covered in tree debris/road grime right now. I read that you can use polish if it’s faded but to be extremely careful as that is not recommended. I’m going to clay the rest of the car, hit it with VSS and Blacklight from Chemical guys.

I don’t have experience with it myself, but I’ve seen it brought up a few times. Compound is definitely a no-no, polishing is borderline like you said.

Clay bar is fine, and you can wash it with your normal products. From the MSDS, it doesn’t look like Blacklight has kerosene in it, which I’ve heard is the only thing to worry about. If you add wax or sealant, make sure you get it out of the gaps by the ppf, or they will really look bad.

The left over of someone else’s wax job is what caught my eye. The film has a white edge or lip. I’m sure after washing and clay it will look good. I may try the blacklight with a softer pad then recommended at first just to see if it does anything. Being the first time with ppf I’ll play it safe.

    Thank you @War Machine!

I could have sworn that carpro made a product specifically for PPF. Also I think Jim @driverdog said a toothbrush and peanut butter of all things is safe and effective for cleaning the cruddy edges of PPF

Can't wait to try the reset. And those guys at carpro are awesome throwing in this hydro2 with the order of reset, that little bottle will last a long time at 6:1.
And I'm good for a while on my tire coating I think. when I find something I like I make sure i get enough to last a while. I learned to strike when you find a good deal and get the necessities when you can. You never know when a favorite product will be tough to get, kinda like the waxaddict tyre stuff that is hard to get now or super expensive. I have a few bottles in stock of that but when it's gone it may be gone. I jumped on this optimum tire coating for 20% off plus free shipping.
I won't need to buy anything for a long time now..........lol yeah right.

I could use some 6" cutting pads. I will wait for another sale somewhere though. Unless someone wants to trade me for some 5" finishing pads? I have 2 lake country hdo black finishing pads I can't use. Up for trades if someone can use them.

Just finally got a chance to watch this. I’m very intrigued.

I watch a lot of Scott’s videos, and have listened to him being interviewed on a couple of podcasts. He comes across as abrasive and arrogant, but I do like him and he shares some good knowledge. He’s one of the few guys who is brutally honest in his videos. If something isn’t good, or can be done cheaper, he’s quick to say so.
Unlike others, it’s pretty obvious he isn’t being paid to push products. Most of the other big name detailers on YouTube give me the impression that they are being sponsored. Pan the Organizer is a good example. Every product he reviews is “amazing”. There aren’t any where he says a product sucks, which is impossible. With him, I don’t think it’s so much that he’s lying about a product being good, I just think if he doesn’t like something he doesn’t do a review at all.

Anyway, I’m considering giving this a try on my daughter’s Honda. It has some minor imperfections, but nothing extreme. It’s also a pretty small vehicle that I can do a one step polish on pretty easily.

I was thinking the same thing. I watch some of his videos too and yeah he gets annoying but hes always informative. I was thinking of getting a bottle and doing a one step correction on the 1995 Chevy 1500 maple sap truck with 30k miles on it. then trying this as a coating, probably do 2 coats.
I'd also try it on my truck seeing that I know I will never get my paint perfect enough to coat, so a little filler may suit me pretty well. Its cheap enough to try I suppose.

I like how he starts his videos..."Hello folks".....He's like the detailing industry's myth buster...like when he talked about getting away from the 'two bucket' method. He does a good job of finding less expensive ways to do what we do

Lol hes definitely not setting any trends I guess but every now and then I watch something of his and say why didnt I think of that. Between the guys here in this thread I get pretty much all my ideas and techniques and product ideas from tundras.com. but like I said now and then he does surprise me.
I'm thinking of ditching the 2 bucket method myself, and would love a spotless rinse system so I dont have to dry. I know that most of my marring is coming from drying. I just can't justify a spotless for my one car I wash. If I had time and ppl would pay me to wash a car a month, then I'd be all over it.
I just wanna say I love this section of tundras.com and appreciate everyones input. I wish I had a longer detailing season here in CT though. Or a heated, larger garage. I'm pretty much MIA for 4 months a year from the detailing threads.

@War Machine Im willing to give his product a shot as well, should this be considered equivalent to a sealant? Is clay bar necessary before hand if my paint still holding up pretty well after 4 washes. Also I think he mentions using any applicator, but Im in the weeds on that so considering a visit to purchase some Griots red foam waxing pads or other hand type applicator unless anyone can suggest another.

For the price, this is worth a shot for nearly any novice detailer IMO. I would do 2 coats for sure.
Technically you should do a full decon, iron decontamination as well as clay bar, then a full wipe down with an IPA solution or something like carpro eraser. You want super clean virgin paint, even if your car is off the showroom floor.
It's being called a true ceramic coating so prep is still the key even if you don't do paint correction, with 1-2 years of protection this is beyond a sealant, or so he claims. I just hope it cures to a hard finish. He doesnt mention a hardness rating like some ceramics do.
I like that it has filling capabilities as well as the obvious paint protection, I know I can not get my paint to 100% perfect so this is ideal for me, and many others who are weekend warrior in the detailing world. I plan to try this soon as well, but still do at least a one step (maybe more steps to get it as good as possible) correction and jeweling step first with carpro essence, maybe some other compounds polishes too, I planned on doing this anyway before I came across this video. He suggests using a microfiber pad for application. I will likely get a ceramic application kit with the microsuede mini towels and foam block when I do mine, they are cheap enough, it just seems like it will lay down better with something like that. But Microfiber pads are cheap, even on Amazon or right now detailed image has a 20% off sale, I don't think foam will work well for this product.
I would also use a ceramic topped like reload or hydrosilex or something similar after a few days of cure time. He also sells a topper on his website but it's not any cheaper than the ones I mentioned above.
Keep us posted man, I'm very intrigued by this stuff.

I love the waxaddict too, its amazing stuff and I will always have some for various uses. But this tire coating is unreal as far as perfect sheen and longevity over a month.
You do need to put it on CLEAN tires just like any sealant. But as long as you have clean tires, you have a good month of shiny tires, the only thing I have seen remove it is curb rash

I used turtle wax foaming interior cleaner to get some little spots out of my seats and now I'm left with this:

Maybe some product was left behind. I would try a damp MF cloth or towel.

I had the same issue when I was spot cleaning my cloth interior. I ended up cleaning the whole seat because you could see the spots I had cleaned like your picture. Once cleaned and dried a few days later I sprayed all my seats with scotchguard.

Thanks, i'll give that a shot and see what happens.
I've used this stuff before and never had an issue.
