The best I have found so far has been waxaddict tyre feeder as far as looking really black and shiny. But it doesn't last long at all. Hydro2 helps water bead off and makes it easier to wash but no clean bkack appearance. I am thinking of trying the optimum tire coating. Also was wondering if maybe an interior leather ceramic coating product would work.

The best I’ve found for my Bakflip was Adams Spray Ceramic, but it didn’t last long. I put that on my nerf bars yesterday. We’ll see how that goes.

I used P&S Brake Buster yesterday. Worked great. The benefit with this product is that it is used on both the wheel and tire, instead of using two different products.

I’m not sure it cleaned the tire as well as Wise Guy does, but it was just as good as what I’ve been using for the wheel itself. Good price also.

    P&S Detailing Products RT40 - Brake Buster Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner ( 1 Gallon ) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0779HGRHB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_4yVXCbN52ZT3P

I also applied Shine Supply Beadlock to the wheel, and threw some Waxaddict on top of my Optimum Tire Coating. It came out well. I very rarely thoroughly clean my wheels,so hopefully the Beadlock makes it easier.

Is there a method that takes longer than that?

Yeah I don’t know what he’s comparing it to. Pretty much any method is just as fast or faster. Seems like you’d also be more likely to sling it around with that.

They laid some new hot asphalt down on the road in front of my work place, and now, I have petroleum on my paint [some splatter, a line here and there]. What's the best thing to use to remove it [that isn't hard on the paint]? I want to get it all off before I wax it, obviously. Thanks

Anyone use something that was a “no touch” engine and bay cleaner?

Trying not to have to brush or get my hands into small places to wipe or use a water hose putting risk to electronics

Be careful using the rougher grit Nanoskin. I have a Carpro Polyshave block in medium grit, and it caused some marring in the limited spots I used it in. I’ve stuck with fine grade after that. That mitt is pretty great though, glad you liked it. You take any pics?

I haven’t found anything better than the cheap aerosol ones at Walmart. I think they’re Sprayaway brand?

I have not. I’ve done very little engine bay cleaning. @driverdog has a good process somewhere, but I don’t remember what thread it is in.

I use Meguiars Super Degreaser at a 4:1 ratio. I do very little brushing, sometimes none at all. you can always use a nitrile glove (I don't). I don't try to make it perfect by any means. I spray and let the product sit for a few minutes, and then I scrub only the really dirty areas. I then follow up with spraying the degreaser off, and shine it up with chemical guys TVD shine dressing. It looks great and I don't brush very much at all.

Brush I use: Lisle parts brush

First pic, the front quarter panel is Nanoskinned and polished with M7, the door is just Nanoskinned. Second pic is the finished job. I need better pics, but the weather turned lousy and its been snowing and rainy since the last week here. My truck is super dirty again. lol

Looks great Aaron! I know we kid about colors a lot, but pics definitely don’t do justice on white. I can tell you got it looking really good though. I bet it looks even better in person.
By the way, I usually avoid my Tundra badges in my pics, since I’m usually too lazy to get them thoroughly.
You like the smooth feel? It’s crazy how much the clay bar / mitt improves the look of paint.

Did you use any wax or sealant?

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with out it came out. The smoothness is incredible. After the Nanoskin, I used Meguiar's M7 than Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax.

The weather is supposed to clear up this week so I'll try to get some good pics. It does look better in person. My neighbour came over just as I finished the wax and asked how old the truck was. Told him 14 years old. He paused, looked at it, looked at me and just said "No." LOL

It does look well taken care of for being that old. Very nice. Have you put any thought into headlight restoration? In the pic they look hazed over. Usually an easy fix with the Meguair’s kit they sell at Walmart.

I'll be completely replacing the headlight assemblies this year. They're cracked in a couple places and get water inside them regularly. Not worth trying to restore at this point.

So I finally got around to removing all of the badges off the Tundra. I was able to remove all of the adhesive tape but I'm left with the outline. Whats the best was to clean this up (obviously the truck needs a wash). IMG_2993.jpg

So quick question. I recently took the Dealership badge off my Tundra tail gate using a heat gun, on low, and my AAA auto insurance card to scrap off the left over glue. I used WD-40 on a rag and dabbed the left over glue. I then used a Hot towel soaked in Dawn dish soap to remove any left over WD-40 residue.

Did I ruin the Clear coat using the Dawn dish soap?

Should be no damage to the clear coat from the dawn. It does remove whatever you had on to protect your clear coat, such as wax or a sealant. You'll wanna protect that area with some kind of wax or sealant. or better yet clean the whole truck and give it a good detailing and apply a spray sealant such as carpro reload or hydro2, or some beadmaker, or meguiars quick wax or ceramic wax. All of those are very easy to apply and gives months of protection
