I'll let you know. I sent him an email outlining a coating vs the potential of using another wax/sealant product.

I asked in that forum on FB and an overwhelming number of seemingly unrelated people cold commented to use jescar powerlock. Who would have thought lol

Got around to using my Bissell Spot Pro on my Tundra seats again-still smells musty-and I couldn't believe how many passes it took to stop the old soap foam from coming up. Must have gone over each panel 100 times. I would rub my hand on the clean seat to agitate and it would turn foamy white from product. I spent 4 hours on two seats. 8 tanks of clean hot water. Is there any shortcuts or something I am doing wrong?

Maybe it was in an earlier post....but what issue/problem were you trying to fix?

Still trying to remove slight must smell from the seats. Visibly look clean but they have a slight must mixed with a few old air freshener bombs. I feel like there is no end to pulling out dirty water with these seats. First tank and 5th tank on the same seat.

This may or may not help...try spritzing vodka. Watched a cleaning guru guy on Ryan and Kelly show the other day. Said it would take out the smell of campfire on clothes. Could be worth a shot just don't use the whole bottle you may need it if it doesn't work

I'm hoping CKatz53 will chime in on this one. In my experience, the Bissell machine is good for a lot of things, but legitimate deep extraction is not one of them. It simply does not have enough 'water lift'. Topical stains are one thing...those have became deeply embedded in the padding are another.

I missed the origination of this. Did the musty smell originate from cleaning it or was the smell there before and you were attempting to remove it? And it seems no matter how much you extract it keeps pulling dirty water up?

Truck was a heavily soiled/used construction work truck. Interior smelled of dust/dirt. I attempted to clean them best I knew how but apparently left some of the seats damp and for the last year there has been a slight must/dirt smell. I think the two Meguiars foggers only made it worse. I have tried my ozone machine with limited results.

Heavily used work truck I'd expect you'd have to remove the carpets/any padding and pressure wash and leave out to dry. The Bissell is good but only for surface contamination. Anything deeper you'd need a heated commercial unit like a mytee. Expensive and won't guarantee results for something heavily used. If you don't want to remove seats and carpet, try red solo cups filled with baking soda...It's a bandaid on a broken arm but might help over time (shake them up periodically). Also try sprinkling the carpet with Armor All pet odor elimator powder meant for the house and let it sit for a few hours and vacuum it up. Again...these are more than likely temporary fixes as you haven't removed the source of the issue but is less invasive/time consuming.

Thanks. Carpet has come out, was pressure washed. No smell from the carpet. The seats even after the last cleaning this weekend still have slight lingering odor. I have sensitive nose too which doesn't help. I guess at some point I will run out of steam-no pun intended and just live with it. I am considering taking the oem covers of the seats, wash them in a commercial washing machine and only reinstall when the smell is gone. Not sure how much smell is in the foam padding though. May be wasted effort.

Yeah I'd venture to say the culprit is the seat foam then if you've pulled the floor and let it air dry in the sun after washing. In that case you can pressure wash those too if you pull the covers but its likely to remain. With anything detailing related nothing is 100% and never will be short of a 0 mile factory car (and most likely even then there are issues lol).

Try the carpet powder and baking soda in cups trick. Distilled vinegar 2:1 in a spray bottle when extracting can help to neutralize smells as well....but then you're dealing with waiting for vinegar smells to dissipate which I think is worse sometimes lol.

Tried vinegar early on with the carpet-the smell never really dissipated until I pulled it and pressure washed.

I am leaning towards Cl02 treatment after I give the seats another go and try to extract more dirt.

I've used @Ckatz53 pet carpet sprinkle and baking soda in a cup method on a really trashed Corolla. I mean this thing was a biohazard. It did lessen the smell and held up well the next time I saw the car in a few weeks I took a whiff. So it helps but I don't know that it will totally ever remove it like he said.

Yeah sometimes that smell takes ages to fan out. Unfortunately I learned long ago that in this venture there is no such thing as perfect and some things just aren't doable. Can't tell you how many 3 hour jobs turned into 8 hours because I couldn't let something go. Now I know those things I couldn't let go were actually never fixable from a detailing perspective...the things you learn lol.

I totally get that. I have that personality and have tried to learn to 'live with' things instead of wasting countless man hours. It's not unlivable as it is, just enough to bother me. I have one final push and then I am closing this chapter lol.

    I have a water spot question…

My truck was professionally ceramic coated and typically I only use ONR or CarPro ECH2O with distilled water for my wash’s. Mostly spray and wipes with the occasional two bucket method thrown in. But due to an injury I have been unfortunately using this local hand wash that does a great job BUT the use regular water which I find is leaving hard water spots.

I am going for my yearly “refresh” soon and will probably have them removed but what is suggested to remove such stains that is safe for ceramic?? I have to go for surgery soon so my truck is going to the hand wash place more often than normal (I get lazy and use them when it’s extremely cold/salty). And eventually I would like to remove them on my own.

    Thanks!!

@Oey12 Undrdog WSP is great for removing water spots and is coating safe (although you don't want to use any company's water spot remover regularly as it is acidic and will cause premature degradation of any coating).

If you're in a pinch, distilled vinegar diluted 4:1 works well enough.

What coating do you have applied if you don't mind me asking? Certain coatings are better than others at preventing water spots from becoming permanent. There is not a single coating on the market that won't water spot in one form or another....the key is how easily they come off. A good coating will remove water spots upon a simple contact wash with soap and a microfiber mitt.

Ahh so Xpel Fusion Plus? I haven't seen much about it in the real world application outside of internet reviews. Not many Xpel installers around here. So, I can't speak on how good it is and if the water spots will come off with a waterspot remover or if they may be baked in. If you try waterspot remover, again I recommend Undrdog WSP, and it doesn't work then that means they've baked in and etched meaning they would need to be polished off and the coating reapplied.
