If you can get a pic to go through, we can help a little bit better. If it's etching, it will likely need to be compounded/polished out. Depends on severity and overall paint condition.

I've had some vehicles that even after a heavy cut/polish these spots remained and appeared as "shadows." Extremely hard to see but were there if you knew where to look. The only way to remove those would have been to wet sand, but this was a 2019 Tahoe (GM black paint that lived in Hawaii for much of its life, so think tropical storms and harsh sunshine baking those in) that was super thin and the risk wasn't worth the reward of burning through clear).

Hard to tell exactly what it is, but I'd venture to say you'd need to compound then polish that out. Looks like chemical ghosting of the clear and more than likely the color as well given how thing toyota paint can be. Would still probably see some of that afterwards but could make a large improvement. Just depends how deep it has gone.

One other thing that has helped me....I bought some of those inline filters they use for RVs (Camco. Glacier) ....let the water run through them for a few minutes...and they're good to go. A friend of mine is a camper and buys them in bulk. I've also considered investing in one of those battery powered pressure washers and rinsing with distilled water. I already have a bunch of Ryobi 18v tools, so I have plenty of batteries/chargers.

Just washed my truck and have spots like this all over the hood. Doesn’t rub off. It was at the dealer sitting outside with pollen for a week.

This is a odd one. We have seen issues with 3-1 but not exactly like this. 3-1 is absolutely great but it does have rules you have to play by but I really don’t think this is caused by the sealant it’s self. I’m curious has @worktruckwhite tried to polish this or maybe a clay bar decon fresh start. I own a white truck (cue the jokes) and honestly it is the most forgiving with this product.

I’ve applied griots a few times, always follow the same process and this is a first. Might just be I only noticed it where I was buffing.

I haven’t touched it since, frankly the whole truck needs a polish (and ceramic coat) so might just fully commit before summer.

if not 3-1, any guess as to what it would be?

For those that are professional detailers, do you do anything different with high end cars?

A family friend thats a CPA just got a brand new White Porsche Cayenne, it being in the tail end of tax season, he's busy as hell and the car is pretty dirty when i saw it today. The car is only about a month old, it has PPF on the front up till about the front of the front wheel well.

    I was thinking about this:
    Iron-X
    Clay Bar (probably synthetic)
    Wash (probably carpro reset)
    Griots 3in1

After looking at the paint, i didn't see any need for deeper correction but i also didn't get a good look for any swirls.

He didn't have any additional paint protection (ceramic coating) done to the paint. Does the above recipe seem like a good one? I'm still undecided about the inside, which is all leather (didn't see any Alcantera), on my truck and the Lexus i use Lexol 2 part, but seems a little low rent for the Porche ;)

I’d go with that recipe. Also Lexol is really good stuff been in the game forever so that would be my choice.

I'm no professional....but if it were me....if it's really filthy.....maybe a pre-wash like Bilt Hamber Auto Wash, Bilt Hamber Touchless or Car Pro Lift. I might be inclined to do a light polish after the clay bar.....and you could go with something non-abrasive if you want...like Car Pro Essence or P21S paint cleanser prior to the Griots 3 in 1.

I've tried a few different leather products, including Leatherique and Lexol (which I liked better than Leatherique), but settled on Chamberlains.

not trying to make your job harder....just my .02

    I appreciate all the input!
I'll take a closer look at the paint (and probably take a few picture) this upcoming week when i go to sign my taxes. I wouldn't say the paint is abnormally filthy, but he parks under some trees at his office so they drop some stuff on it.
I'm a little hesitant to do a polish, but not 100% opposed to it. There is a decal that spans the width between the wheel wells and the PPF on the front.

Wife got new wheels n tires, so I was getting ready to dismount them to clean them really well then put the optimum tire coating on. She said, that's a little excessive, you don't need to do that. Ok....plan B it is. Put a 2x4 in the middle of the tire so I can get all side walls done without having to do some then roll it forward. Lol. She laughs until she sees the results.

That looks really good! I tried a product called Rejex on my rims and it really makes the brake dust come off easily. I used it on the whole truck and the bugs hardly stick at all. Goes on like a wax and comes off super easy with no buffing. Google it. Love it on my motorcycle!!!

For those with boats in here you'll probably know something better than what I use, but I'm looking for a boat specific wax/sealant that will give me at least a full season out of it. Client's boat is stored on the water but up on a lift. He likes our work but was dissatisfied with Meguiar's Flagship only lasting until late July when we had done it in March. Any suggestions? Never had any issues with trailered boats (less exposure to brackish water I suppose) but his saw some premature seasonal failure I'm assuming due to where it sits.

PFA of the boat in question. @AZBoatHauler @Prostar 190

I have always used McGuire's flagship with good results but my boat doesn't set in the water it's trailered. I also wax it three or four times during the summer and wipe it down after every use. Sorry can't be of much help.

Anyone have any experience with this type of issue? It's from a 2006 x3 I detailed for a friend. He's a mechanic, doesn't want anything to do with cleaning cars. He acquired it but has also had a different BMW car that had this happen on an arm rest. Is this just from the sun and whatever shit it's made of? It's like a factory coating that just semi melts and scrapes off over time. It's only on certain parts of the car but it's annoying the shit outta me that I can't make it look good but afraid I'll open a can of f#ckery if I try to "fix" it.

Bonus if you know beamers because I can pick it up for 4000 or so. I hear they are considered high mileage after 100,000. It's got 150,000 I think it's pretty sharp ride but don't wanna have it nickle and dime me to death. Just need it to be reliable and get better gas than the Tundra.

It's the top paint layer peeling/delaminating due to general usage mostly. Only fix is to pull the parts out, sand, and paint.

I figured...I see how well you take care of your boat. Flagship has been great on all our trailer boats. This is the only one water stored so the detractor appears to be how its stored. I posted in a coating FB group that works primarily with boats and they all said I Jescar Powerlock is an excellent sealant for boats (some seeing 6 months of protection on water stored vessels) so I may give that a go if I can't talk the guy into a marine coating...I'm a shit salesman because it feels tacky lol so we will see.

It's crazy, higher end vehicle having this. The other 1 was a 2016 sedan. It really messes with my OCD as far as cleaning lol. Had a Nissan Altima coupe I detailed and the dash was practically melting from never being protected. the material, which seems similar to the dash of this X3 was just sticky you couldn't wipe the dash without nit dragging.

Well if the Jescar turns out to be better in your experience by all means let me know. I can always use an edge. Lol
I always wipe mine down at the end of the day with Boat bling hot sauce. It takes away the water spots.

BMW is known for subpar finishes on the interior unfortunately. They've reached the point you're paying for the name and not the quality lol. It's a shame....gone are the days of most companies putting out solid products based off merit and not off bottom dollar revenue.
