Got this picked up at O'reillys. Gonna try it out tomorrow to give Jason a break on buying/testing all the newer stuff lol.

 

I remembered to look at it today when I got home. It's called Essential by gtechniq. It came with my wheels and tires that I ordered from Mr. Wheel Deal in November

 

Nice probably great stuff.

 

If I ever make the effort to really clean my wheels again I’ll try Cerakote on them. The couple of wheel coatings I’ve tried haven’t really helped any.

 

You'd try the Cerakote Trim Coat on wheels? Which wheel coatings have you tried? I'm looking for some options to use on a set of new wheels.

 

I actually did one wheel on my daughter’s Tundra the other day. Hers are pretty oxidized, and I’ve been putting cover all on them to make them look black. The Cerakote got it black again. As well as it worked on my metal nerf bars, I have high hopes. I’ll see how it does on that one wheel and decide from there.

I’ve used Shine Supply Beadlock and McKee’s wheel coating. Neither made much long term improvement.

 

With wheels its a tough one. They are the first components that see all the nastiness from the road.

Aside form actually coating them with a ceramic product, I've had relatively good results with Gyeon Can coat.

 

I plan on putting 2 coats of CQuartz Dlux Trim & Wheel Coating on my winter wheels hoping that will give it the protection from the salt. Pulling my 20" rims off and putting on my 18" Off Road rims for winter. My Tundra is not my daily driver so that helps a lot

 

@War Machine i had a chance to try out shine supplies clean and shine you sent my way. First impression is it is very good and seems like a 2step product that works well. The smell is fine and it distributes very easily. I’m curious how it will look in the coming days and the length it preforms. It is hard to find products that actually cut out steps in the detail world no matter what the manufacturer promises but this one seems to be legit. It would not be my go to for one of @Ckatz53 interior miracle jobs but for a quick clean and gloss it is legit.

 

For those of you that have used Cerakote, how has it held up? My "new" (15 years old) Mini has the notorious fender and body rail trim haze and discoloration. Want to coat it after a good cleaning without having to remove, sand, and paint. That would be my last step if I can't find a product that lasts.

 

Mine on my steps are still holding up just fine. I see it being able to hold up quite a while. My windshield cowl piece is holding up well too!

 

Granted these are dirty but you’ll get the idea. This is the steps on the fj it has been outside in the rain just about everyday for 2 months. The steps had pretty much looked grey and rough. You can see that they are still protected and look damn good. Rain down here can be rough on just about any product I use but this stuff is still kicking as* for $20 free shipping order on Amazon. Big thumbs up from me.

 

I haven’t had to reapply it anywhere yet. Not sure exactly how long I’ve had it on the different spots but it hasn’t faded anywhere.

Make sure that kit came with the anti lint towels. Some do some don’t. You’ll want them either way. I always buy 10 packs of them. I use them for coatings and throw away I also use them for detailing interior clear plastics and screens. They don’t scratch surfaces and no lint left behind.

Seriously, it’s pretty awesome. Anyone who has faded nerf bars needs to get this stuff ASAP.

Cerakote. Before you apply make sure that your vehicle is clean and COMPLETELY DRY.

 

Got my bed cap/tailgate cap and tow mirrors cerakote'd yesterday. It took me 2 wipes to do those. Still extremely impressed with this product!

 

Looks great. I love this product. It is super easy to apply and leaves a great finish.

 

So I finally got a polisher, the G9 and just finished up my black 19. I ended up using 3d one with white lakecountry pads. I tried their orange pad, which was doing a better job but it was leaving a haze and I didn't want to run around this thing twice. Is it perfect...hell no but I did manage to get rid of enough swirls etc to make it appear almost perfect. I then gave it two coats of Turtle wax hybrid ceramic.

I had never run a polisher before but other than being stiff and sore it wasn't bad at all. You don't realize how big these trucks are till you start a job like this, lol.
