Any update on fuel gauge fixes?

Go to Texas website for lemon laws. You fill out form for small fee. Guy will call or email you after reviewing form. Then he contacts Toyota rep to get it approved. Toyota calls you and you meet at dealership. They inspect it and hand you a check. You get the cost of your truck minus a user fee based on the first time it was reported to dealership and not fixed. Kinda like a small rental fee. Mine was done w really low mileage so I got 100% back. Drove the truck for a year and a half!!!

 

Wow. That does sound pretty easy and straight forward. I however am in Oregon. Not sure it will be that easy. Nothing seems to be up here LOL.

 

Just happened to my 24 Limited TRD OF with 8500 miles. Built date 12/23. Hoping its a one time thing...

 

Nope, it will happen again eventually. Been 3 times for me... All when parked for a bit on an incline.

 

to resolve our issue of the tank gauge resetting to full ...

context : our driveway has incline upwards to the garage

use to park nose up in the driveway (see avatar pic), it would randomly reset to full

park rear end up now, it no longer resets to full

this only happens while in the driveway and after it sits overnight.

 

I thought that too but had it happen nose down. Happened last week parked for 10 min at a McDonalds in a slightly sloped space. (always at 3/4 of a tank)

 

Same for me. Backed up my driveway and I’m fine. Parked facing forward and it resets to full.

 

So I had a question about the gauge just reading wrong. I was reading less than 1/4 tank with 62 miles until empty. I have the 33 gallon tank and averaging 18.5 mpg, which should mean I have about 3 gallons left in the tank. But when I filled up it only took 23-24 gallons…is that part of the issues some people are having? Truck is a 24 4x4 TRD Sport

 

Haha same thing, showed 50 miles left but only 23 gallons fit in. Mine just did the fuel meter reset this week. I’m thinking maybe it’s trying to gauge better how much is actually left? At least that’s what I’m trying to convince myself. I get about 560 miles in a tank now with the most recent reset.

 

560 miles? I have never gotten close to that yet. I purchased a '24 Tundra Limited TRD off road on 08/01/24. The only add on would be the change of tire size going from the stock junk tires to Toyos LT 285/60R20 (didn't go too crazy with tires yet because of the perceived warranty issues I have heard some guys having by going all out with their add ons.).


Build was July '24 with 32.2 gallon tank. Currently have about 1600+ miles. Pulled into the gas station today. Gauge read 13.4 miles per gallon average for the current tank (just driving around town like grandma), with 21 miles to empty. Only able to get 26.3 gallons into the tank.

If you need better mpg , stay out of the boost

but that’s boring as shit, boost it and not give a shit, when it’s empty , fill it

 

285 is a good jump that will cost a couple mpgs. Lifted? Another 1-2. On empty there’s still 5-6 ga in the 32ga tank. Your mpg will continue to increase til 10K mi. If mpg matters you’ll learn to drive staying out of the boost unless needed.

 

Around town,no need to jump into the boost mode. I knew the change of tires would affect mileage to a degree, but I just have the stock lift which I believe is 1.5". The TRD suspension may be a little heavier than the non TRD 4X Limited, so that may be a little more drain on the mileage (unless I'm wrong about that). I noticed on the new '25's, they list electric waste gate valve actuators on their sticker - new upgrade?

 

I could have easily gone 600 miles on a tank. My best was 559.6 miles and I only put 27.722 gallons in it when I filled up. If it's a 35 gallon tank, I'm pretty sure I could have hit 600 miles!!

Electronic actuators has always been the standard on this motor (that was the part on the early ‘22s they had trouble with). My ‘23 Lim TRD OR with 19K on the odo has a lifetime avg of 19.7mpg. Runs about 18/21 unless down in So Cal where it’s hilly and stop lights every 1/4 mi. Then 15/21.

This is when mine seems to do it as well. I notice it at this level and when I back my boat down the ramp.

 

Just happened to my 22 Limited DC for the first time in over 2 years. I parked on an incline, nose up, with 3/4 tank. Started up and it went to full tank and stayed there. I checked the forums and found the trick to stop on a level surface, turn off engine, wait a few and restart in park. Worked great. Just another quirk to deal with right now.

 

Unhooked my negative battery terminal for about 45mins yesterday to mess around with some things. As soon as I hooked it back up and started it up my gas gauge was noticeably lower. Barely below half before unhooking battery. Barely above a quarter after hooking it back up.

I always park nose up so apparently I missed the gauge resetting at some point. About 5th time I’ve noticed it happening but could have been doing it a lot more than that. I guess it’s a good thing I always fill up with more than a quarter tank left.

 

had the wife park the truck nose down now in the driveway.

havent had the issue since.

silent side effect, she now backs into the driveway

 

Same here and every time I pull into a random parking spot I'm conscious of what direction the nose is facing

 

at least every few weeks the fuel gauge would reset back to full parking nose first into the driveway. since our build date didnt fall into the tsb we just park nose down.

we all know 23 platinum blueprint non-hybrids are the best ones anyways, HA!

 

i am really afraid though, once the heritage blue plat 4R comes, i think she will steal it from me and make me take the tundra. she really is not fond of the blueprint blue. she got spoiled on the 2018 blazing blue pearl tundra color

 

I like the blueprint blue, it can look like so many different colors from black in low light to purplish blue in the direct sun

cool color, but everyone likes different stuff.

yeah in bright sunlight, the blueprint is amazing to look at. but she complains it always looks like black.

 

I could see that, I wouldn't mind if they made it a few shades lighter

 

its such a dark shade that it really cant shine unless its bright outside. even a dull day its hard see the blue. example below. i mean i really cant blame her going from blazing blue to blueprint blue

 

ya, both look nice, I think your blueprint truck looks better, that other one is just to bright for my tastes, but again we are in 100% subjective land, lol

just a tad too neon for me on that older one
