Any update from Toyota relates to the fuel gauge issue? Currently driving a 22 Tundra plat hybrid, and the truck is resetting the fuel gauge itself almost everyday when I back the truck out from a driveway(The fuel gauge is not resting to full, but sometimes it adds a bar or half a bar. And the average tank fuel consumption resets too, somehow the truck detects fuel is added while the truck is backed out from a driveway, driveway is normal slope). Tried both method to reset the fuel gauge manually, shifting D to P, holding the trip button tap start button twice. Both methods not working for me. This is getting annoying, and my distance to empty is also not accurate at all.

The fuel gauge went to full this morning, pretty sure it was half a bar from full the day before

I have the analog cluster and it only happens rarely to me when parked on an unlevel surface. I mentioned it to the service manager when I had my 10k service done a month or so ago and when I got the truck back he said that Toyota was aware and was working on a fix. Your case seems to be quite a bit more severe than others I have read about.

Make sure you carry a half way decent scan tool with you so you can reset all the blinky lights and get the truck out of limp mode when you run out of gas.... Ask me how i know.

my truck did it today :(

I reset my odo all the time, already went 150 miles, and all of a sudden my tank shows almost full with range of 465, it was higher when I started driving but took this pic when I got to my destination

really weird, since it was parked at work with no incline and that is when the issue happened, and my homes driveway is slanted and its parked there all the time with no issues

Its amazing that now over a year Toyota is still working on a fix. Its probably happened half dozen times to me, when parking on a unlevel surface.

that sounds like a float issue where it works on an incline and not flat surface.

Like I stated with another issue; Toyota is probably aware of a proper fix, but it is expensive, so they are still screwing around and trying to figure out a cheap work around.

I've had this happen to me twice. Found it happens when I "overfill" the tank.
Do the park reset and its fine after.

Sorry for this dumb question in advance, but what exactly do you mean by overfill? And when you’re talking about Park reset, do you simply mean put it in park on a level surface and reset it after filling the tank?

I hope they find a fix soon, I travel a lot and would hate to run out of gas in the middle of no where.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my truck, but this has happened to me twice in the last week alone, so I am somewhat annoyed by it. I brought it up to the dealer service I use, and they didn’t seem very interested in helping with it. Said they had never heard of the problem and moved on.

    Not a dumb question..
Basically when you're trying to squeeze in that extra couple bucks of fuel with the pump nozzle pulled out and it comes to the top of filler neck.

    Thanks
    I know....
    Its not a regular occurrence

... but time to time when fuel's a bit cheaper you try and squeeze bit more out ;-)

I've noticed my MTE jumping up. Figured from parking on a hill. But it never resets to what's actually in there, even after parking on flat ground.

I had it happen to me again I had went to the dealer the first time they said they couldn’t replicate it and basically reset some thing and it fixed it. Then it happened to me again so when I went in for my first oil change at 1800 miles I said there’s a TSB out on it and can you apply the TSB. Apparently they did some adjustment where it shows in my Vin number records that something is changed with the gas tank, software or whatever. But he wouldn’t give me a straight answer, whether or not it was the TSB fix hasn’t happened since I went in so we’ll see.

Did the TSB about a month or so ago and the other day I parked on a driveway with an incline and suddenly had a full tank of gas again! Clearly this is still an issue even after the TSB was performed.

Hopefully with an updated part that’s backwards compatible to the 2022 and 2023. My 2022 Platinum just had this issue for the first time at 13,500 miles yesterday. Along with the wind noise I’m starting to regret this $65,000 truck.

It helps if you know the reset procedure. The fuel gauge issue happens to me occasionally when I park at a steep angle. Doing the reset helps as a temporary fix to get my fuel reading correct again. Otherwise, I have to fill up again in order to correct the reading.

this happened on our 2023 plat non HV (build 8-dec-22) yesterday. only thing i can think of is that it was super hot yesterday (93F). it has never dont that before.

wife was wondering if i secretly snuck out tuesday night to fill up her truck.

i told her, heck no, why would i waste my money to fill up your tank. i will fill her tank but she has to give me her debit card to fill her tank (she has her own account that her paycheck gets deposited to pay her own bills)

2023 Platinum.... 1300 miles. Mine has had this issue on every tank of gas. Had in the shop today for this issues and they did a reset. Got home and the issue repeated again. Mine will hit 3/4th tank then reset back to full and back to full miles until empty. This is mind numbing.

I do the other method, come to a stop and turn off the truck in D, wait 3 seconds and shift to P, 3-4 seconds later the gauge wakes up and displays the correct level.

    Seems easier to me :)

This method is great too if you want to park but keep the radio playing without having to shut down and hit accessory and reboot everything for the radio.

On Wednesday I’m going to have the TSB done and see if it helps. My service advisor told me that they’ve had it happen on their loaner vehicles across different types and that it usually happens when the tank is full. To which I countered that it happened to me, with a half tank, on a trail at 8,000 ft and I would have been screwed had I not noticed and ran out of fuel.

I moved last year and I like my old service advisor better, if you have a good one be nice to them! Haha! My previous advisor loved that I was taking a brand new truck out on the trails and he did a complete paint restoration detail for my pinstripes for free with a loaner vehicle while they had it.

does this procedure work on the digital fuel gauge or only the analog one?

the posted procedure does work on the digital gauge, just went out and did it on the tundra and it reset back to 1/2 tank from full.

just an added note, filled up the truck about 15 minutes ago, and it only took 10gals. so the reset back to 1/2 tank wasnt a true reading since 10 gals used would only take it to 3/4 tank full.

probably didnt help i was on a front down incline on the reset

Mine is exactly the same as yours. 23 platinum.... it gets down to about 3/4th of a tank and then resets to full. This has happened on every tank of gas for the last 800 miles. Currently the truck has 1560 miles on it.... its going back into the shop tomorrow to check calibration. I am also talking with Toyota as well. I can tell you this....for a $70k truck this a bunch of BS.

Agreed. Was told they need to check calibration before starting a TAS case, so we are doing this tomorrow. I have also talked to dealership where i got truck and they are willing to make me whole if this doesn't work. Im assuming it isnt going to work. Its just really frustrating.

23 Plat back in the shop today for them to check calibration. They are keeping the truck to start a TAS case. At least another case sent up, not expecting much.
