Only concern I had about going with the 27f is that the positive terminal barely has any slack to go the extra length and height but, I don’t know, it might work.
I went with the ACdelco group 49 because it’s longer but not taller and it also has a slight bump in Amp/hour compared to the 27f. It also was less than half the price of the X2. Don’t get me wrong, if X2 offered a group 49 I would’ve bought an X2.

Any modifications to the charging system (mechanical or software) needed to get the non-hybrid trucks to charge the AGM battery correctly?

Not in my experience, my battery has been doing great and I’ve registered my voltage up at 14.3v which is what AGM’s like to help them stay healthy.

Well I'll be the anomaly... Picked up for 180 an everstart AGM battery. (4 year replacement warranty same as x2)
I've had pretty good luck with the lower end everstarts (I've got a battery from 2018 in my Camaro)

Reason why I went with it is because the vehicle is going out of state and wally world is readily available if there is an issue.

Not sure how relevant it is but if battery capacity is a concern and you don't want to install a permanent 2nd battery position, there is always the option of adding an alternator charger. I recently purchased one from Ecoflow, but I know companies like Bluetti makes one, that can charge the portable battery bank while you drive. But the more relevant information for this thread is the fact that you can reverse charge and trickle charge the starter battery, so that keeping the AGM topped off won't be a concern.

You mean use the Ecoflow to trickle charge the starter battery?

Correct, if keeping the AGM topped off is a concern.

That's pretty slick. I was looking into the EF charger, but I only have a River Pro and they're not compatible. I have to go the DIY route and use a Victron or Renogy DC-DC charger through my River Pro's solar port. So no fancy reverse charge. Idk that I would need that, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I do hear through the grapevine that if you can make an adapter that'll fit an XT60 or XT60i cable, you can at least do up to 500W but I think that limits it to only battery charging and no reverse charging. Take that with a grain of salt though since I know Ecoflow's documentation has changed on this product since launch.

Our ‘09 Venza batt lasted 9yrs, 16’ Tacoma batt 8yrs. Batts at the dealer are not the same as from the factories. Wish I could get the factory ones. Hope the Tundra goes long too but even though I limit start/stop all I can, it still happens.

I have factory batteries that lasted and some not so much. Wish I could say I knew what shortened the lives of some while others were good.

These days for me its about the warranty. Walmart has the everstart batteries. AGM are 4 years replacement.

Other brands that are more expensive have the same amount of time. (IE x2 or Odyssey are 4 years)
Downside to them are they cost twice as much as an everstart platinum agm.

Now if you have a specific need for reserve power etc, thats one thing.
For me, Between the no hassle warranty from Walmart and the fact that they have stores all over the place makes it a win for me.

BTW best way to see if the Walmart batteries are any good is by checking the date code sticker and taking a good volt meter with ya.
Obviously you want fresh but lets face it... its a sticker.
I also take with me a small volt meter to see how much of a charge there is or I take a battery tester to give me a little more info to help with picking a good battery.

    Bone stock (for now)
The start/stop engines come stock with an AGM battery from the factory. Mine was already corroding when I popped the hood in September so I don't think they are close to the X2 power quality battery that I had in my old Tacoma. Toyota did make it right and swap it out and replace the terminals free of charge FWIW

I'm in the minority on this subject. I have a barn full of automotive toys, none of which get a lot of use. I routinely rotate my battery tender from vehicle to vehicle. It does have the AGM setting.

I did a dual battery setup in 1981 Jeep CJ7 when I restored it several years ago. I used 2 Optima yellow tops. At the time, they were the newest batteries in any of my toys. They were also the first to stop holding a charge recently. Meanwhile, all the of the other standard wet batteries are going strong.

Perhaps AGMs are more susceptible to not getting used regularly, dunno, but I certainly wasn't impressed with the Optimas I had, especially for the price.

I have had my "Factory OEM" battery replaced 3 times. Switched to a 27f full throttle and it has been flawless.

No issues with my AGM. Less things hooked to mine than the guy above but probably just as much draw given my system I have
