So I’m not sure how these work but one thing to keep in mind is if you don’t get bags with internal jounce bumpers, you have to keep at least 5psi in the bags at all times.
I have the single air lift bags not these double convoluted. My single ones with internal jounce bumpers are stiff. I’ve heard these double convoluted bags are more comfy. I would go with the most comfy bags as they are both rated at 5000lbs.
As long as it’s ride rite of Firestone you can’t go wrong. I thought I needed the wireless compressor but manually filling the bags is super Easy so I wouldn’t get sucked into spending the extra money. I have the airlift 5000 with internal jounce bumpers. I’m having second thoughts on those because they feel a bit stiff. Let us know how these feel on your truck if you get them.

I’m actually considering sumo springs as I tow the same load every time. If I ever sell the trailer I’d probably remove the bags for comfort.

 

Torque air bags are good. A friend said you may want to consider "Air lift" (on sale) or "Firestone". If you call, ask. They know their stuff.

 

Yeah I wouldnt buy the torque ones. The brackets also look wonky compared to mine

That’s a good price. Just remember, as Tundyfundy said earlier, i don’t think those have the internal jounce bumpers so you have to have at least 5 psi in them.

 

Good to know. Not that I plan on bottoming out the suspension, but if it did happen I would assume the bags provide a softer impact as well.

 

You'll have to check it often. I had the Firestone Ride Rites and after a couple, three weeks, they'd be empty.

 

That’s another good tip!! In the reviews on the website lots of people actually mention that these seem to hold air longer. Some people say they left it for months and nothing changed.

So I’ll check it every couple of weeks until I get an idea of what kind of leak rate it’s got.

 

Might I suggest you put the fill valves somewhere more protected. They can get narled up out in the elements.

Putting the air valves in that location is an interesting idea. With two valves, I am assuming he ran separate lines to each air bag, which allows you to fill each bag independently. This would give you the ability to level the truck, side to side, to compensate for a load imbalance in the bed. If you do not feel the need for that ability, then you could use a 'T' connection with one valve, and air up both sides equally at the same time.

 

If I purchase the 2445 Firestone kit am I going to need spacers w/ my ProComp 6" lift?

You will need spacers-within one inch of your lift. so 3” spacers.

 

This is where you want them. Trust.
not only will you not be rubbing your paint with the air hose, you can actually see both side of the truck for leveling while you’re filling! I bought gorilla grip valve stem caps and they are easy to take on and off when they are wet.
Also you can get some custom caps and it’s like a new MOD!

 

You can also see the hitch to make sure it’s leveled when your filling from the back. Not so much from the gas cap area.

 

Personally i opted for no t connector and allows me to level the truck side to side.
As for the valve stems getting beat up, as somebody says, just put caps on them wherever you decide to mount them. If it’s good enough to protect your tire valve stems than it will be more than enough for the valves on your airbags.

 

Its meant to keep the brackets from pinching the bags at compression. Not sure if youd have to bottom out but I think you get the gist.

 

I use a 2 inch spacer with my Procomp lift. Also, I believe you have a 3 inch block with an AAL..

I dont think this is true. Where WD bars attach to the trailer you have an adjustment for the seats up and down. If you have the chain type, each rung of the chain is a different setting. The hitch ball bracket also has an adjustment. which affects if the trailer is level or not after loading. There are many videos showing how to set up a WD hitch and everytime you change ride height of the vehicle it needs adjustment. If there no adjustment on it then how does one product work on so many different vehicles correctly? The answer is......THEY ARE ADJUSTABLE.

This is what the shank looks like before the ball is installed. YOu can see it has multiple setting for height adjustment.

A WDH works on rotational force. The torsion bars apply a rotational force that puts weight back into the trailer wheels, and weight to the front wheel of the truck thru the trucks frame and suspension.

If you air up a WDH that was previously set up without bags, the torsion bars are not applying as much rotational force, and the weight goes somewhere....right back into your rear axles, which in turn takes away weight from your front wheels. Hit the brakes hard, trailer dives, you can lose control in your front wheels.

If you air up then set up your WDH you are much better off, but you're now applying rotational force to a compressible, rubber bag of air. While that is better than the previous setup mentioned it won't perform like it was ever intended to, especially under hard braking conditions.

I personally think that a properly set up WDH should be all you need. In the OPs case he's not not using one, so bag away. His setup is the ideal scenario for the use of bags.

Some manufacturers have compatability w airbags, and as long as the bags are set to pressure before hitch is calibrated he should be just fine I would think.
This is something I wasn't doing but after reading now I know the proper order.
