    That's cool.

    Not knowing when the next time it will happen, and whether or not it will put me in a potentially dangerous situation, would not sit well with me.

    It's bad enough knowing there's a chance my engine could grenade at any time.

    This is a huge problem for my 2022. Absolute worst. 40,000 Miles on my truck and it does it a few times a week. Ill be at a stop sign or a light and take my foot off the brake and give it gas and it wont go. For a second you're like "wtf?" as your brain processes why you're not moving. The guy behind you is about to hammer you because you're not going anywhere (because you took your foot off the brake and your engine is making noise) and your gap in traffic is now significantly smaller therefore your left with the only option of smashing the gas and burning out, giving yourself and your passengers whiplash, as to not get rear ended or T-Boned. Its NUTS toyota refuses to address this.

    Yep...Other than the acceleration from a stop my truck has been performing as it should. No word on my engine replace date as of yet. Just a "We will be in touch"

    2025 Platinum with 2200 miles and the hesitation is now becoming a nuisance and a danger.
    Never happened within the first 400 miles or so but now it's happening frequently.
    Makes me wonder what has changed since the truck was new that NOW it is an issue.

    I've tried turning the traction control ALL the way off. It still happens.
    It happened a couple days ago (yes, I was turning LEFT) and when I finally got going, tires were spinning as I attempted to not get crushed by oncoming traffic.
    I was so aggravated and embarrassed, as I drove away I mashed the pedal to the floor over and over and there is barely any reaction from the engine unless you leave it held down for a moment. Eventually it registers.

    I loathe this wired throttle and all the "smart" nannies on these new trucks. As if the truck knows how to drive better than I do.
    I promise that if you don't hold back horsepower I will be able to take off from a stop without breaking traction and without car-show Mustanging into a crowd of pedestrians. Ask my '09 5.7L with traction control turned all the way off. I've seen me do it.

    Hail Mary, I put 93 octane in it today. I know that's not the issue as the motor isn't gagging due to bad fuel or lack of air. There is no engine response from the pedal at all. The engine is just not getting the signal to go. Something between the pedal and the engine has gone stupid.

    From what I'm reading in here the TSB fix is temporary and some dealers claiming they can't "recreate' the issue so they don't even do it ...so I wont waste my time at the dealer.
    No one has a definitive answer other than "wait until you get a replacement motor"? Do you think your new motor will be different than my 2025? I doubt it.

    Seems the Pedal Commander (or other brand) is where I'll be looking.
    Such a nice truck. Shame that I need to spend $$$ on aftermarket products and potentially risk my warranty just to make it function as it should.

    Now what? Learn to drive it like this?
    Guess I'll need to get in the habit of two footing it, use the brake pedal like a clutch, giving it gas and let up on the brake when I'm ready to skedaddle.

    For those experiencing hesitation from a stop try this: Instead of gunning the throttle from a stop, lightly press the accelerator and then once the truck starts moving press the accelerator more aggressively.

    My 2024 SR5 had a 1/2 second or so hesitation when it was new (and I was new to it). I don't know if this technique cured the issue or if it was the transmission software update but my truck now has no hesitation from stop. It may be that I've just learned to accelerate this way (light then heaver throttle press) that caused the issue to disappear.

    I don't typically hot-dog my truck but the last time I needed to accelerate in a hurry from stop (needed the adjacent lane quickly for a turn and there was a car next to me) I pressed the throttle about 1/3 from stop and did not expect the amount of wheel spin I got (traction control enabled) and had to back off the throttle. It's amazing how little throttle it takes to get the truck moving in a hurry.

    Sorry to hear this.
    I've been very aggravated by this as well. After 3 years of living with it, I got used to driving it like this. No fix unfortunately. I hear that it may improve for me with the new replacement engine, but I would think 2025s should have latest and greatest engine already... So don't know, sorry

    Dealer said mine was normal and it was the Turbo's spooling up..., but when I mentioned my wife has the exact same motor and transmission in her 23 Sequoia (I know..., two G-damn grenades waiting to explode (probably done with Toyota)) and her throttle response is 100% different... After a slight puzzled look, they went back to Turbo spool.... Safe to say this power train stinks...

    If it were "turbos spooling up" it would happen every time ... and wouldn't the truck still move while "turbos are spooling up"?

    I can translate for you since I speak fluent "Dealership" ...
    "turbos spooling up" = "we are aware there may be an intermittent lag issue but we can't figure it out all by ourselves so we are at the mercy of Toyota Corporate to send us updated programing to correct it".

    Compounding this frustrating problem is the fact that not all Gen 3 Tundras suffer from acceleration hesitation.

    My truck, and many others here, have never experienced the hesitation.

    Mix in the fact that the hesitation is not replicable on demand, and it becomes a warranty/service nightmare. I hope they figure it out. It sounds like the trucks that suffer from this are down right dangerous.

    Yes. This issue is driving me crazy! I have a 2024 and Toyota won't even admit that it is a problem in my model year. My service rep just gets a frustrated look on his face because he has been hit with so many complaints about it but Toyota has tied his hands by ignoring the issue exists. Same thing with the uneven tire wear. They have put out service bulletins on previous years but are ignoring that it is still happening in later models.

    I have been using "Sport" mode and haven't noticed the issue again.
    Just gotta remember to spin that dial after I start the truck.

    Speaking of Sport mode ... When entering Sport mode, why does the display show the motor blue and also the suspension (not-blue)...
    Do some trim models have adjustable suspension that changes in Sport mode?

    ya its not the turbos lol.. These turbos are tiny and spool really easy and fast, hence the 479 at 2,400....

    Could the front radar be mistaking something (pedestrian, animal etc.) is in front of the truck when accelerating for the uphill left turn? As an aside, when I park in my garage, the brakes automatically slam when the front gets too close too the wall. If I switch off the backup sensor, it seems to disable the braking behavior in front as well, allowing me to get up close. Wondering if that would have anything to do with the hesitation?

    An unrelated anecdote, I've had two Gen2 Ridgelines. The earlier one, (a 2017) I was in the left turn lane behind another car that would not go through the intersection. I pulled left to go around her when she decided to then go herself. There was plenty of time for both of us to make the turn before the arrival of an oncoming car but the Ridgeline sensed a forward collision and completely stopped me for dead, left me helpless in front of the approaching traffic, would not go for a second or two no matter how far I depressed throttle, until it finally took off.

    My acceleration hesitation is gone since my motor was replaced with the recall. It drives much smoother, very noticeable change in driving the biggest being the throttle response compared to before. One other thing is I have zero turbo noise now, before you could hear the turbo spool every time I hit the gas and now it’s silent.
