When I first get in my truck, I always open all windows and turn on just the fan on high for a few minutes to try and clear some of the heat. Then on goes the max air. Still takes too long imo.

You've hit on something with the black interior. I bought my truck in march on a cool day sunny day, and when I first got in it to test drive, it felt like the heater was already on.

Can be dangerous if not familiar. Freon charge is pressurized, charge to a given pressure, need proper guages to monitor.

My 07 got the cab super cool quickly even in the summer. Had to turn it down after a bit. My 14 is the same way even with black interior. Takes a few minutes longer but gets super cold too.

I did this to T100 when it was low, worked for a bit, just didn't feel like paying arm and leg at a/c shop

Yea, shops can be high. Call around get some estimates so there are no surprises.

Having not purchased / added Freon in years, not sure what's available and compatible.

Sorry, no. I would look at private mechanics shops in your area first. Then the Firestone, Pep Boys, etc. types.

Take it to Gary at All Auto on Jones Rd. He is about a block past the Ace Hardware on Jones. He won't try to upsell or cheat you and his prices are the best around. He works on all our and our neighbors cars. Good dude!

If you are going to do it today, I'll be around after 2pm. I live about 3 miles from the shop. I'd call him first to see if he can get you in.

Sorry @ARamirez73 but Toyota's never have cold AC!!! All American cars and trucks have Arctic temperature AC systems, while Toyota just has minimally cold AC. I have had over 20 Toyota vehicles and none of the AC's are even close to an American version. Just the way it is! I drive with my windows down anyway so it doesn't bother me. I can see in the heat of Texas where you would want some cooling to work but that not going to happen fast. The best version for our trucks is to put it in "auto" for air. This will ramp the fan to a higher rpm than when you manually put it on "high". Don't ask why, but it does go higher on "auto", and set to "low" with recirculation on.

They AC systems in both my Tundra trucks will freeze you out of the cab, ice cold on a hot & humid day. My '07 has heat reflective ceramic tint, and it works as advertised.

Be careful with the windshield tint. The tint guy I've used for 10 years quit installing it after a client got in an accident and is now being sued for "obstruction of vision" despite being clear. People will sue for anything.

My observations with the a/c isn't necessarily performance, but rather that the out of the numerous clicks on the fan knob they are all low except for all out high and the clock right before it. This is my 2nd Tundra bought used, the first was bought new and was the same way. Coming from a long line of F-150s and living in southern Louisiana this was one of the first things I noticed. On high my a/c will have the truck cooled in about 10-15 minutes after sitting in the sun all day.

What I'm trying to say is that the Tundra has way more fan speed selections than my F-150s, that seem to do less per selection.

My Tundra is definitely lacking in the AC Dept. I live in an area with triple digit summers and I notice it immediately after riding in my other vehicle or work vehicle. My Sienna's AC sucked too, figured it was a Toyota thing

If you can hear your a/c compressor cut on, and the air just doesn’t feel cold enough, then you need a re-charge. Try the can. Did mine about a month ago. Takes less than 10 minutes and is super simple. Instructions on the can. Freezes me out now. Also follow the advice about turning off the recirculation first.

This one is what I used.
