No there was no evidence that was the cause - the diagnostics were inconclusive. I don't mind "one offs"...

I had the same issue when i purchased my 2016 CM. They told me the same thing about the gas cap and I had to take it back several times. They finally were able to figure out after numerous visits that it was the gas tank and the connections. The whole gas tank was replaced and have not had further issues.

My 08 Tacoma did that all the time. Glad all is well.

Rory, just curious, someone posted an introduction email here and said they put an aftermarket locking gas cap on. Was that you? I’ve heard our trucks are temperamental to the aftermarket gas caps. Just a thought.

Glad it wasn't anything major (I think you have a much better chance of winning the lottery than having a major issue with a Yota at 700 miles, actually!)

BUT if it happens again, I'd go demand further investigation by Toyota. (I can't believe they didn't offer to, at a minimum, replace your gas cap.)

When my 05 Tacoma was only a year or so old, I brought her in for an oil/filter change and the mechanic came out and told me he saw a tiny amount of oil seeping out of a gasket and wanted to replace the whole gasket if I could stay another couple of hours. (Free, of course) That's a big reason I like going to them, they always give it a once-over and come let you know if they find anything.

Not a regular occurrence, but always needs to be checked out if it comes on. Happened on my 17 Tacoma and ended up being trans solinoids and the ECM chip. All had to be replaced. I ended up trading it in for my Tundra.

It's never too late to start. There are lots of good resources to help you get started including the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association). I got my Private license back in the late 1970s and did not fly that much (too heavily involved with sport parachuting at the time). I miss flying and may go get current again (rusty pilot here).

Flying a plane is the most enjoyable way to pass time. Well that's a bit of an exaggeration now I think about it - almost the most enjoyable way to pass time.....

I had a '13 and the transmission had an issue at 35 miles. Take it to the dealer - let them fix it and bitch like hell for the extended warrantee gold coverage.

Drive it! Unless it’s in limp mode. It’s very likely to be something stupid. Go enjoy the truck and don’t think about it. Even the best can have problems. Not one thing man made on this earth will be completely perfect.

At least your front bumper is on straight. I got mine home and a few days later noticed the bumper was crooked. Took it back to dealer and after the realized that it was not install properly they went out to the lot and found 3 more brand new trucks just like mine.

I smell a hint of douche-baggery here... this qualifies you how exactly? looks like you didn't put your gas cap on right.

nothing embarrasses me more than reading posts where 'fellow' aviators come off sounding like complete snobs.
