Really eyeing those SXTH , but worried about life of the motor with an intake change or compromising the extended warranty I got with the truck.

    Inconsequential.

As long as you keep the filters clean, and change the oil, it wont matter.

Took about 2.5 months to receive the S&B kit and another 2-3 weeks until I had time to install. Overall I am not impressed with the fitment of the passenger side.

The bracket exterior of the box with the grommet to set it in place misses the prong(?) by probably 1.5” so it was either set the box on 2 of 3 or set it on 1 of 3. There is a lot of space between the exterior of the prongs and interior of the grommets.

The bracket to secure the intake tube doesn’t attach to a damn thing. Once it is secure to to the tube, it just kind of floats and I have no way to lock it down. It’s holding on with thoughts and prayers until I hear something from S&B.

Is this common for everyone else that has s&b? Or do most have good fitments?

Driver side box and tube lined up and installed well, its just the passenger side that has the issues.

same. The driver side bracket that comes off the intake tube to mount to the engine though….. whoever designed that bracket can go to hell.

So what about the bracket that mounts to nothing? Did you guys not run into that same issue?

No idea. I don't have the kit yet. Just trying to understand what @LowcountryDave is referring to and if others have had his same experience.

the bracket probably wasn’t installed correctly and or the tube not rotated all the way to line it up. It definitely could have benefited from a longer bolt for ease of install but it’s likely an alignment problem if he’s saying it bolted to nothing.

Exactly....if the box wasnt aligned right at the 3 studs, then it's likely that the bracket at the VC was off as well since the intake tube goes into the box, or like you said...its not rotated correctly.

Bracket was installed as directed by S&B instructions. I probably won't have much time to get back under the hood until the weekend, I'll just be checking periodically throughout the week to make sure everything is still secure on the passenger side.

    Update on the SXTH.

Ordered at the end of July...August, and Sept have gone and past. Been in contact with them the entire time. Same story...Oh, it will arrive at the warehouse soon...etc...was supposed to be in their hands Sept 22...then sept 30th.

I'm very much considering a chargeback on the CC shortly. Not thrilled with the pre-order communication. If I don't get any more updates come Friday, that one is off the list, and I'll more than likely settle with the S&B. IF i can find them in stock anywhere.

Yep, mine shipped today. Hopefully over the weekend I can install. I've got to do oil changes on the truck 30k miles, and one on the other car '14 Touareg.

I've been between ordering the magnuson and s&b kits. The Magnuson ones look good and I from the pictures, they feed from the fender hole. Not sure if s&b does that too. -looking forward to your feedback.

S&B was ok but also had a slight stumble/surge at idle. It pulled air from the fender as well but IAT's were slightly higher than oem box due to the large plexi tops and I'd assume its insulation properties are not as robust. I'm hopeful that the Magnuson kit will not have the same stumble/surge being that they're a bigger entity than any other manufacturer producing intakes for this platform atm and wouldve done more extensive r&d

I still point to the different sized MAF housings as the culprit for stumbling. That was the key for me.
Looking at the magnuson unit, they appear to have OEM sized housings.
I think you'd be good to go.

Additionally, I'd not be too concerned about the plexiglass. Sealed is sealed. As soon as you start induction on the units, they will evacuate that heat.

Definitely pulling from the fender well will help.

100% this. S&B uses a reducer insert to get close to oem maf housing size. Either the size is not spot on or the velocity was impacted enough at low rpm that it has messed with maf readings a bit. I've used air straighteners on other vehicle kits to help get rid of P0171 DTCs but I didnt try it on this kit. I've not had AFE, S&B, Stillen (Didnt even get to run it) and now Magnuson. So far TRD drop ins have been the most reliable but also the most boring.

Yes, from their video. At the MAF it's oem size

    I believe it has both.

The front cutouts and then from the fender well. Again, with the factory air to water intercooler, i'm not too concerned about IATs.
