Well if anyone knows a hidden gem to order the S&B's from, to get this weekend or next, let me know. Can't seem to find anyone that will deliver before the middle of July.

They reuse the lower half of the oem box...so its $500 for a lid, filter and elbow. Spendy, imo.

They have but most are not active on the forums. I know a couple of them. I also have their intercooler and radiator but won’t be running their intake or exhaust since I already have ones I prefer.

The video shows them pulling off the front for the radiator install but the site says no need to. Was that just for cinematics or do these actually need to have the front removed?

after paying for an extended coverage bumper to bumper i read the fine print that said any performance mods to the truck make it ineligible for the policy. that the dealership just sold me.
and the truck they just sold me has the k&n open cone performance intake duo.

so that's neat. gotta call them monday.

I'm sure they went through that vehicle and they sold you the warranty so why would you want to?

Guys running SB…. Are you running the front plug open or keeping the box enclosed?

i'm not sure i understand the question, but my impression now is that allstate would just reject any and all future warranty claims and use performance modifications as a basis to do so. that plus some shady wording around self maintenance bits makes it fairly worthless to me.

I was under the impression you bought both the truck and warranty from the Stealership, hence they sold it to you and they didn't seem to mind/toss a yellow flag on the field crying foul with the CAI on it.

I did buy both from the same spot, but it was not a toyota dealership. but from an automotive group that does own some toyota dealerships.

Can you share with us your feedback about both? any temp improvements or performance gains "temps difference or dyno numbers"?.

are you able to put the plugs back on without removing the air box? Or is that a no go?

Cool… thanks for quick reply. I’m just wondering if you’re committed at install and if you change mind if you have to start over, I’d think you could reach in and put them back in.
I had AFE and went back and forth with the plugs open or not… got really weird hard downshifting coming to a stop so I abandoned the kit and sold it.
Did the STILLEN thing…. We all know how those shit boxes turned out.
Now I’m looking at SB and trying to decide if I really want to do this again or just keep my TRD drop ins, haha.

I had the same issue with the AFE with or w/o plugs. S&B has been good other than a slight stumble at idle, in gear with AC on on rare occasions not enough to complain. I didnt remove any plugs..didnt see a need

Placed my order with S&B two weeks ago and it is not expected to ship for another couple weeks. S&B says production is behind with the filter media if anyone else is looking for theirs as well.

I knew it was backordered when I purchased them, so its all good. By the time S&B charges my card I should have enough cash back available to redeem for the full amount of the intakes.

Looks good. Seems like a better lid than the S&B. Cleaned my filters and trying to get that stupid lid back on filled me with all kinds of rage

I thought the S&B lid just pressed into place? Or is there more to it? I plan on ordering one in the next couple of months.

It’s push to seal but like requires acrobatics to get the seal on one side then slowly work around to ge to sit flush. Basically just extremely tight tolerance

Looks like another solid contender in the intake wars.

What are y'alls thoughts on open to the engine bay intake holes?
Some have and others do not, correct?
Is that what is meant when talking about putting plugs in or out?
Additional intake air flow but also open to more engine bay heat?

Worst case you can block them off. Zip ties fix everything.
Air to water ICs should handle the charge temp change.
Good trade off for increased flow.
