2nd key FOB wait time

Did they offer close to what you paid for it? I have a buyback request in as well. It's been 30 days and I haven't heard back yet.

 

The first request was denied. I had to involve KY AG, and only after this they started moving. On the 07/01/24 i received email that they agreed to buy it back but since then NOTHING. Next week i'll contact the AG again. I posted everything on this forum

My notice of approval for the buyback came in today. Within an hour I provided all the necessary paperwork and documentation that they requested. My case worker has actually been pretty forthcoming and helpful. Hopefully yours is resolved soon.

I wonder if the taco fobs are the same as the tundra

 

My next door neighbor got his 24 taco in march and it cam with 2 fobs.

 

Bought mine back in October. Just got an email from the dealership the 2nd fob is in last week.

 

Probably, by friend bought a Rav4 in Dec 2023 and it came with both fobs

 

Bought truck in March, built 12/23, and have appt for keyfob in August.

Truck purchased 12/26/23, FOB notification middle to end of June. So roughly 6 months.
Just got it today at my 5K service visit.

 

bought my 24 in may. guess ill see it around november-december?

 

I bought mine in late Feb 24 and still waiting. I checked with the dealer today, and still nothing.

 

Jan-24 build that I bought on 1/27/24. Back in May I contacted Toyota's Brand Engagement Center (per dealer suggestion) and was told sometime in July the 2nd FOB would be available. I suspect it will be next month at this point after reading through this thread.

Going on a road trip to Colorado from Texas next week. Fingers crossed I don't need a 2nd FOB.

I got my notification through the Toyota app, then called the dealership, they verified that i'm indeed allegeable and then were able to order it, so, the corporate DOES handle it.

 

Was it 2 FOBS or 1 FOB and 1 Key Card

 

Finally got my letter yesterday that I can have a dealer order my second FOB. Purchased end of November 2023.

 

In my case my dealer told me they do not have any control on it, actually last time i asked them just one week before i received notification. The rep checked something on the computer and told me that it was supposed to be in June. I guess your dealer is better than mine

 

Got mine in four months. Called the Toyota number and went nuts on them a few times. It worked.

 

Purchased my new Tundra mid February ’24 and just picked up my second key. No email, letter or phone call notifying me. The notification came via my Toyota application under Health > Service Campaigns. Called dealer and they had a key for me.

I think it is BS that I can order another FOB from the dealer or off EvilBay but I have to wait 3-4 months for the second FOB that is supposed to come with my truck. These trucks are not cheap (mine is a 2024 4x4 hybrid 1794 short box). It does not make a difference that I paid below MSRP. If Toyota has them in stock to sell, then deliver the truck with the second FOB. When we bought the truck, we paid for that second FOB.

All dealers screw you on a trade in if you only have one FOB, how about some reciprocity then....

Someone should set up a betting pool or at least a matrix on how long it has been taking for the 2nd FOB to arrive. Maybe a comparison of "it should only take 2-4 months" vs "hey, come to the dealership and pick up your second FOB". Would be interesting....

I’m still waiting as well. Purchased Feb 5th.

 

has there ever been a valid reason as to why they fobs are taking so long, when the Tacomas and a few other toyotas are coming with two fobs right from purchase? besides supply issues? seems odd when i can buy on in the parts depts.

 

They are still calling it a chip shortage. I find that hard to believe, considering all the options my truck came loaded with and they didn’t have 1 more chip for the 2nd fob.

 

Just got my notification for key fob. Purchased February 5th and got notified today August 23. So a little over 6 months.

 

Got my notification today too, 1/24 build date, purchased 2/24.
