I think I will stick to my original plan and go with 285 60 20s Ridge Grapplers. My UCAs are fairly close to the tire now with 275 55 20s Terras...

Sorry for the late reply. With the 275/65/20 tires and 1.25" spacers I do get minor rubbing in reverse on the driver's side only. This is with the small front wind deflector/flap removed. I will use a heat gun (when it warms up around here) to reshape the inner fender a little. The rubbing is so minor that I could have gone with 285/65/20.

Thank you! I just dropped off my truck to get the Bilsteins 2.5” strut in the front only. I’m really hoping it will make a difference and i can put a taller tire, that’s my goal. You did the 2.2” or how much? @plumber802

Yes,I went with the top setting and it will make a difference in ride quality. The Bilsteins handle bumps, potholes and ruts a lot better than than the stock struts. Make sure to do a wheel alignment after.Nice pic ^^^^. We are expecting 8-12" of snow here in Vt. tomorrow.

Just got my truck back, def can tell the difference. 2.5” setting in front. Measures exactly the same in the back. Extremely satisfied. Now to go with 285/65/20.

I ended up going with 275/65/20. I probably could have fit 285/65/20 but this size was not available in the Continental Terrain Contact AT that I wanted.

Great!! So Reading here, you ended up with 5100 on the top setting with 1.25" spacers. Any lift on the rear end of your truck?

    Thanks for the reply

You've got any side pics? I plan on doing the same, 3" up front, nothing on rear but running 285/65/20 with no spacers. You running stock UCAs?

Please let me know. I want to add 3" to front and run 285/65. If not, I'll have to do the same as you and drop to 275/65.

with just 3" in the front, you may look a bit lower in the rear. This is with 285/65/20 BFG KO2s on a Bilstein 6112/5100 2.75"/1" lift. You are going to have to loose the front spats and curl the skid plate up a little if 4x4.

Are you running stock UCAs? Or running any spacers? If so how much room between the them and tires?

Stock UCAs. I would have to look but there is plenty of room. only issue was the skid plate at full lock either way.

That is the look I'm going for. And no wheel spacers on factory rims. So it can be done! I am so ready for that look.

    Thanks.

Ok - so leaving my 2-cents for those that follow since I searched high and low to get a straight answer on this subject. So on my 3rd Tundra now - actually went back down to a 2014 Limited with the factory 275/55/20's - absolutely hated them on my other 2 trucks. Had been wanting to go bigger, but didn't want to go through the hassle of a lift, spacers, etc. I already have other vehicles that I've done that on, but just wasn't willing to tackle it with my Tundra. Upgraded to 275/65/20's A/T's - (2 sizes taller) a couple of months back. What a HUGE difference. The truck now looks like a truck, has a more aggressive tread obviously, and truly drives better. The gearing in the Tundra, in my opinion, is better suited to the taller tire anyways. Honestly should have done this years ago. While I'm sure I didn't gain any mpg's, the shift points now seem to be better suited to the power band. They are E-rated so heavier and harder, but the Tundra had zero issues with the extra weight. On the hardness, it rides a bit stiffer, but nothing over the top that I really noticed. The biggest thing was the noise from the A/T tires, but got use to that in a couple of weeks. No lift, no fender or flap trimming (not sure where that ever came from) - the only minor thing that some others have mentioned is you have to either bend up the front ears of the skid plate or trim them - took me all of 2-minutes with a cheap pair of normal pliers. Turn the tires, reach in there and just bend the ear up a bit on the corner of the skid plate -couldn't have been easier. Only rubbed on full hard turn anyways. Will never go back to the smaller tires - ever.

The only potential issues you may run into is the front to back clearances (wheel to wheel well) is tighter - might be an issue if your wheel wells were packed with snow/ice. I have driven over curbs, through medians, and an occasional ditch since switching with zero rub noticed. If you do heavy off-roading, you probably want a lift kit or the 5100's anyways. But stock setup on the 20's worked beautifully in my opinion. I have had several positive comments since switching and the guys at Discount Tires couldn't believe how much bigger 2 sizes up looked compared to the stock tires and how much better it made my truck look. Love my TRD exhaust and sway bar, but this was the best upgrade yet. Just a note - the guys at Discount Tire were more than happy to test fit one tire to see if it would clear before putting all 4 on.

Grabbed some pics this morning. Some notes - the one on pavement is the stock 275/55. Included one with the front clearance with the tires straight, one in the front hard lock and one in the rear hard lock. Same width other than being an A/T tire which has more of a square profile - see inside clearance photo. Keep in mind its not that it makes the truck look like a monster truck or anything, but it now looks like the tires are the right size plus you get the extra ground clearance. Also, you can see the skid plate edge that I bent up - very easy to do.

Also as a follow-up note. I had previously mentioned that I felt the truck drove and accelerated better. Keep in mind this is my 3rd 2nd Gen Tundra with over 200k miles in the drivers seat so I do have something to compare to. The tire is approx. 6.8% bigger and grabs that much more pavement on each revolution. The Tundra is a powerful truck and from the drivers seat you wouldn't know it was slinging more weight on the tires. The only downsides really have to do with the A/T tire vs. a P tire. There is more noise and the truck "wanders" a bit more with the tread type and squareness of the tire, but nothing horrible. The more aggressive tread will pick-up and hold rocks some. Like I said if you off-road a lot the lift may come in handy, but for me I spend 95% of my time on pavement with the other 5% crawling around job sites - the 275/65 20's was just what the doctor ordered.

Thanks so much. This really helped me make my decision. Great look on your truck.
