My Bronco Badlands Sasquatch arrived two weeks ago. I knew within 1k miles I wouldn't be keeping it. Fortunately, I was able to sell it for more than I paid. The Ford dealer offered me 3k more than the Toyota dealer as I shopped F150s and Tundras. I took less on my trade to get the Tundra because at the end of the day, I ended up with a better truck for me for about 7k cheaper. Both trucks are nice, however they have different strengths and weaknesses. A 23 Tundra Limited 4x4 comes in under 60k and has adaptive cruise control, more comfortable rear seats, heated and cooled front seats, standard bucket seats, garage door opener, trailer brake controller, trailer Blind Spot, and a few other goodies not standard on the base Lariat. The F150 Supercrew 4x4 with the 3.5 and similar features (501A package) is around 66k to get those features. The Tundra has a smoother ride my 23 has zero rattles or excessive wind noise. For me, the 23 Tundra Limited is hands down a better truck and value. I wish the Tundra had 4A like the Lariat. I dont know if the SoftTex will end up better than the leather in the F150 five years from now. I can always put Katzkin leather in the Tundra if the SofTex turns out to be trash. Other than the 4A and leather, there is nothing i prefer on the F150. I'm just as good with the Tundra bumper step as the fold down ladder in the F150.

I drove a Ford car for years. It’s what drove me to Toyota when I decided to buy a truck.

I was a little bummed to see CR drop the Tundra’s reliability rating to the depths of its competitors, but when I read what they’re basing it on, it seems kind of harsh?

If I’m buying “poor reliability,” give me the one with trim, wind, and rattling issues (and, okay, a turbo problem that seems like ancient history) over the guys who are complaining about… their engines?

If I may ask, just curious...

How long did you keep your previous trucks for?
How long do you wish to keep this one?

I had the 2015 Tacoma for 7 years. And would still be driving it if two kids and two boat had not come along and I needed to get back in a full size. If I had wanted to buy a full size that I knew would take me ten years I’d have gotten a 2021 Tundra. I wouldn’t have been excited about that in any way but I trust that gens reliably without question. But having owned and witnessed each get subsequent Gen of T4R and a Tacoma get more cheaply made, I do not think the current Tundra is any more reliable than any of its competitors.

BUT, I’ll add the caveat(and answer the question you hinted at) that long term reliability isn’t at the top of my buying list like it was when my bank account looked different. And even if I did trust the reliability of the Tundra I cannot get past the looks.

    If you insist:
Ran into a buddy yesterday; he had a 2019 Tundra till 3 months ago.
Got the "Raptor" bug and bought one 3 months ago.
..........after a month and 900 miles on the ODO, one of the turbos exploded at 60MPH while accelerating on a highway!
Raptor has been at the dealership for over 3 weeks now, as they don't have replacement parts available, and he had to throw a fit to finally get a loaner car after almost a week, after it broke down.

Needless to say, he was red in the face while telling me of his "new pride and joy."
Said he's never experienced service as bad as @ Ford before.

    Till we meet again folks.

My personal favorite is still the axle nuts falling off allowing the axle to slide out of the housing. Minor inconvenience as you swing through the starbucks drivethru

...for sure, but at the very least 3rd gen is an infant, just born.

Exploding turbos on a "mature" F150/Raptor platform? Color me unamused.
Anyway, I'll go and patiently await my own turbos implosion in the corner over there...

To be fair, Ford has constantly tweaked the turbos on the 3.5 EB. 11-12, 13-16, 17, 18-20, and 21+ have all had different turbos to my knowledge. Raptors had unique turbos from the regular 3.5.

That and the comment of part availability is 100% true and that goes for freaking safety recall parts even for Ford. It quite frankly embarrassing when I speak to customers whom are upset their trans is toast with back order no etA on parts, ni loaners due to shortage, rentals are hard to get for the same reason so nothing like paying 80k for a good looking driveway ornament.

Your posts are just terrifying to read... I wish you're not a real person and just a troll Ford hater... I'm about to buy back my half-broken ram 1500 that's still on a lot of a small dealership as of now, fix it and be happy with it so I can avoid a Ford lol.

Unfortunately l think you're speaking the truth..

Alright starting to see a rumor pop up that some point in late 2022 The 12 inch Sync 4 screen loses built in Nav and Sirius unless you’re at base Lariat and above?

If so what utter bullS&$t, my XLT Powerboost was just over 60k. Id have thought someone seriously trying to sell me that without integrated nav with live updates and Sirius was on crack. At some point I’d imagine these efforts to crank
Peoples’ arms behind their backs and force them up a trim level will start to backfire.

people will lose patience with getting a 60k plus quote for an XLT only to find out yet another thing that used to be standard in it got bumped up to the lariat the week before they asked.

Maybe. But I've had my truck since August and have not used either of those specific features even once. When you have Carplay with Spotify and Google Maps, why use anything else?

I know there's been a lot of rumors(some very much true) on options being cut because of chip shortages with Ford, but the options that are deleted are listed as they give back a measly rebate. My point is that Ford is cutting options, but as a buyer you will be able to see what they are if you read the window sticker detail, correct?

I think with the mid year changes things can get missed and sometimes even salespeople get it wrong. On the 5.0 I cancelled one thing I missed admittedly due to not paying enough attention was that the 60/20/60 bench with fold down console is standard on a Lariat unless the flow through is checked. It ended up making no difference because I cancelled but at one point when I tried to upgrade and still had a chance to fix it the salesperson swore to me I was getting the Captain’s chairs with console though I could clearly see the truck wasn’t coming that way. This wasn’t a recent change. So I’d imagine abrupt mid year package changes get missed until later in the process all the time if people order based on what they just researched for a few months and the salesperson misses that another box on the configurator now needs to be checked.

My only gripe is the MSRP reflects those features whether you use them or not and omission of them is straight profit to the manufacturer. The little 'discount' you get barely factors in the cost of the parts, and doesn't touch the baked in profit. This goes for all manufacturers.

Ford couldn't be bothered to set aside parts for the heated steering wheels on $110K MSRP Raptor Rs. They made sure the press vehicles have it though. But why should they care? People continue to:spending:

No I get it, you're not wrong to complain, and I'm not even disagreeing with you. I was just saying losing those specific features may not be an issue to many buyers so to answer your question it would not deter them. Heck on my Tremor they changed some things between the first year '21 and my 22 model. But I spent 30 seconds putting LED bulbs in the license plate area, and I don't care about lighted cup holders.

I was onboard for the '22 Raptor. Got my deposit back on the '23 after the deletes came out. Do I need them? Absolutely not. It's simply principle on my end.

I had a friend who bought a Platinum F150 a couple years back, he replaced the lights too as it was the only non LED in the whole truck. Just made me laugh reading your post as he had the same reaction
