Well the whole "energy" situation will be getting a lot more interesting in the next month.
I don't think it will be out of sight and therefore on our minds. Just saying.

    Geo-political
The US SPR releases are ending. The releases worked and brought gas prices down by bumping inventory supply levels up.
But that is coming to a close.
The price cap on Russian Oil coming from US and European nations. Russia doesn't care it will just sell to China, India, etc...
So where will Europe get the Oil from ?
OPEC spare Oil capacity is gone. Their recent 2 million barrel cut was a paper thing, as they weren't meeting quotas anyway.
The West took it as a defiant move.
Just these factors alone will set up for an interesting end of year. JMO

I’ve been thinking about all of that. I just bought my tundra but considering selling it after hunting season this year. Not sure yet. Always wanted a v8 so part of the reason I bought it.

I would be interested in a new Tundra if they design one that can give me 50 miles on straight battery power ....when I choose to use it as an electric. Otherwise the way I use my truck, loaded or pulling something it will never be in electric mode - lol.
To do that - straight battery power - would mean a re-engineer of the back seat - so copy the F150 as much as possible. I know its not happening.
It would be real nice to switch into electric as soon as I start going through the forest.
Until then I am very happy with my 2018. It's not a daily driver, its my truck and I use it as a truck each time I use it.
    Its my mule.

Mine is my family hauler, which we use pretty much everyday. What do you use as your daily driver?

PHEV is honestly the best compromise. 50 miles of range would cover most peoples daily nonsense and it wouldnt weigh 7000 lbs like a lightning or Rivian

Wife's Outback available most of the time. I don't commute and the work I do is from home.

Do you think Toyota will bring in a Tundra PHEV ?

Any truck actually vehicle that allows me to drive the way I like, and use some electric capability when I want to use it - I am for.
I won't buy a vehicle that forces me to change my driving style in order to take advantage of electric capability.
i.e. driving easy and feathering the pedal to keep gas engine from kicking in.

Right. I specifically mean for trucks since it generally seems like trucks are used for towing and road tripping and need good range, which BEV trucks dont offer.

if it was going to buy a car for commuting id get some super efficient BEV.

I had a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in San Diego 6 months ago and got the opportunity to charge it overnight twice. It was pretty cool and would run all electric no problem. I’ve heard reviewers say its one of the worst PHEV’s available, and if thats true, the other ones must be great because I found it decent.

IDK if Toyota will. The F150 Powerboost and IForce Max seem like they are a stones throw away from PHEV. The Lincoln Aviator is using a similar setup as the Powerboost and is PHEV

I ended up buying an F150 6 days ago. Today I have my first dealer visit for:

Snapped rear axle bolts, leaking rear main seal, trailer brake controller recall, moisture in one of my bed lights.

Truck is a year old and has 23k miles on it. What a POS. Might just sell it and go back to my 08 which I haven't sold yet.

Holy crap. Even though it's 'fun' to hate on other truck makes, as someone who's owned an F150 (actually two) in the past, that's a bit excessive for issues. Were these issues existent when the vehicle was purchased or did they just materialize recently?

Private party sale. I went to a dealer and pulled a service report on it and nothing came up (Ford calls it an OASIS report, basically if it had ever been in for warranty work it should have come up especially if repeated work like in a lemon case), so I went for a fly and drive. A good look over (as good as you can when you do a fly and drive, you pretty much have to take the vehicle) and off I went.

The bolt must have broken on my drive home, and I think the leak started on the drive too. It also rained hence the moisture in the light. I blame myself a bit, but also who makes a 22k mile vehicle with so many issues?

It should all be covered under warranty (I find out in an hour when I go to the dealer), but odds are I will be truck-less for a few weeks. I really like the truck itself, the features layout and all that blow the Tundra out of the water, but can i trust it? IDK. I could sell now after fixing and make money, that is weighing on me pretty hard.

Sucks to hear. I hope getting it all covered under warranty is as hassle-free as possible.

Gonna have to add "Built in the years of 20-23" to the adage of "Never buy a car built on a Monday or a Friday." Or sometimes 2018 for that matter...my '18 Tacoma needed new valves and a cylinder head at 26k miles.

For Tundras 2018 "a very good year". I hope I did not jinx myself....8^(
And where there is an incline - as long as I park with the front pointing down and not up, then the Cedar and Pine needles clear the SunRoof drain holes good. No more water down the drivers side pillar. Again I hope I did not jinx myself. Toyota Design defect. Never had another vehicle have SunRoof drain holes clog up like this.

    fwiw -
I would take any truck any brand over what has been built (any brand) since about half way through the Pandemic and well still going for now. Extended Warranty please.

(Tin-foil hat on) I think you're on to something ...maximize profits due 'supply constraints' AND sell warranties! (tin-foil hat off)

I walked through a parking lot and saw from afar a new gen Tundra. Or so I thought....Turned out to be a GMC. Certain similarity in side view and nose. I'm not loving the styling of the new Tundra. Mechanically they'll get it right in 2 to three years.

I just get a feeling that Toyota went cheap in so many areas on the Tundra that it will have to rely on incremental improvements to meet the marketplace needs and wants. Its as if they really didn't want to build it, but were forced by the market to do it or admit defeat and walk away from the half ton market.

Which is disappointing because it didn't take them two to three years to get it right on the 2nd Gen.

So I pulled into our local grocer today and my wife went in to get a few things. I waited in my truck. What do I see out the side ? It doesn't look too bad from this angle. But I liked the boat better.

Quiz - how many pickup trucks do you guys see in the attached picture?

I've been thinking about a way to top this '19 for versatility and reliability, I'm not seeing much. I donate vehicles to a non-profit dog rescue organization (PM me if you want a link, they need every donation dollar they can get). Maybe a used Expedition would work for better MPG towing over the Colorado Rockies. I have to balance cost, reliability, versatility, longevity. I won't donate something I have to apologize for.

I also counted 7 but maybe one of those is a Ridgeline or Gladiator so I'll say 6.
